Job description

Company Description Bench Outreach is a South East London–based organization that supports people facing significant social challenges. The team helps individuals overcome drug and alcohol dependence, secure safe and stable housing, and rebuild their lives. Bench Outreach focuses on person-centered support, aiming to promote dignity, independence, and long-term wellbeing. The organization works in partnership with local services and communities to ensure vulnerable people can access the resources they need.

The role involves providing direct, practical support to individuals who have experienced homelessness, helping them to sustain tenancies in line with Housing First principles. Day-to-day tasks include conducting regular home visits, developing personalized support plans, and working collaboratively with partner agencies to address health, substance use, and welfare needs. The Housing First Support Worker will advocate for clients, assist with appointments and benefits, and help service users build skills that support independence and community integration. Record-keeping, risk assessment, and safeguarding responsibilities are also key parts of the role.

  • Understanding of substance misuse, mental health, and trauma-informed practice is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and external agencies.
  • Organizational and record-keeping skills, including accurate case notes and data entry.
  • Relevant training or qualifications in social care, housing, or related fields are an advantage.
