OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced and driven policy professional to lead Asylum Aid's external policy and advocacy work at a pivotal moment for refugee protection in the UK. 

The UK asylum and immigration systems are under sustained pressure.  Successive waves of hostile legislation and increasingly difficult political environment have cause serious harm to people seeking international protection and made already complex systems even harder to navigate.  At this time there is an urgent need for effective, well-evidenced voices in Parliament, Whitehall and the courts that keeps human experiences at its centre. 

Our proactive and prioritised policy advocacy is evidence-led, based on the experiences of survivors, collective expertise and/or the HBF group’s research findings. Asylum Aid, as part of the Helen Bamber Foundation group, uses its legal expertise and evidence to secure ongoing policy and systems change by:  

·Providing evidence and recommendations to central government through reports, briefings, consultation responses, oral and written evidence to parliamentary select committees and parliamentary lobbying. 

·Ongoing direct engagement on improvements to policy and practice with civil servants in the Home Office, Ministry of Justice and other relevant departments.  

·Working collaboratively with others in the asylum, trafficking and children’s sectors to highlight issues in the asylum and trafficking systems, and push for recognition and respect for international asylum, trafficking and human rights obligations.  

·Undertaking strategic litigation to secure change that cannot be achieved through policy advocacy. 

As Policy  Specialist, you will be Asylum Aid's policy and advocacy lead - responsible for shaping our policy positions; driving our advocacy strategy; building and managing coalitions across the sector; and ensuring that the voices and experiences of our clients directly inform our external work. You will be managed by the HBF Group Director of Policy, Evidence and Communications, and work closely with AA’s Executive Director and legal team. As well as coordinating and undertaking joint policy work with HBF, you will ensure close working relationships with partner organisations and coalitions and be a visible and credible presence in the wider refugee and human rights sector.

Overall Purpose

The Partnerships and Philanthropy Manager will both raise money to support the sustainability of NHS Charities Together and contribute to supporting NHS Charities to increase their income.
The focus of the role is on developing and leading partnerships with corporates and philanthropy.

• To generate income across a portfolio of corporate partnerships and charitable trusts and foundations
• To support NHS charities to raise income from partnerships

Key Responsibilities

Partnership Development & Delivery

• Manage the range of existing partnerships across corporate and philanthropic audiences, creating and implementing bespoke solicitation and stewardship plans, generating income for the organisation or NHS Charities

• Share learning and best practice from partnership relationships to inform future developments and sector growth.

Job Title: Strategic Legal Projects Manager

About the Role

This is a new role which will be pivotal to the work of the Strategic Legal Projects Team. The post-holder will work with the Director of Strategic Litigation and Advice to coordinate the delivery of the Strategic Legal Fund (SLF). This is an innovative programme of grant funding, supporting strategic legal work that benefits people who are disadvantaged or discriminated against because of their immigration status. We define strategic litigation as work where the impact goes beyond an individual case and results in changes to law, policy and practice that will benefit a wider group of people. The fund supports pre-litigation research, and third-party interventions in cases before the courts, as well as advocacy related to the legal activities undertaken. Grants can be awarded to non-governmental organisations and law firms.

The post provides an opportunity to contribute strategically to supporting the legal sector working on migrants’ rights in the UK. You will gain experience of all aspects of the grant-making process in the intersection of legal and policy work on issues facing people seeking asylum, migrants and refugees in the UK today. 

The ideal candidate may be someone wishing to develop a career in philanthropic work in this area or build relationships with esteemed human rights lawyers and social justice organisations. Whatever their interest, they will bring to the work a flair for organising, project management to include building relationships and supporting joint working and the vision to see the separate grants as part of a coherent whole.

Main Tasks:

· liaise with applicants including legal practitioners and organisations working with migrants across the UK;

·  co-ordinate the meetings of an expert panel and decision-making panel;

About the ILPA Team 

You would be joining a small team, of around 12 team members. Purpose of the Role

The Head of Centre will provide strategic and operational leadership for Equal Education Academy, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, inclusive, and trauma-informed online provision. Serving as the Academy’s Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), the postholder will embed safeguarding, inclusion, and wellbeing into all organisational decision-making.

Key responsibilities include leading SEND and safeguarding strategy (including overseeing the Single Central Record)  delivering high-impact staff training, and driving rigorous quality assurance by monitoring and reviewing teaching and learning practices. 

Working collaboratively across the Academy and the wider Equal Education Limited group, the Head of Centre will serve as a vital operational bridge, facilitating seamless collaboration and synergy between Equal Education Academy and Equal Education Limited. Operating at the intersection of both entities, the post-holder is uniquely positioned to identify and leverage cross-group resources, optimising them to drive the growth and development of the Academy. By championing alignment across the ecosystem, this pivotal role ensures that the Academy’s functions, team, and strategic objectives are seamlessly integrated within the wider organisation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership & Quality of Education

• Support the Executive Headteacher in setting the Academy’s strategic direction and ensuring compliance with OEAS/DfE standards.

• Monitor and review teaching and learning across the Academy, using lesson observations, work scrutiny, and data analysis to drive pedagogical improvement.

• Contribute to the Academy Improvement Plan and lead on inspection readiness and quality assurance activities.

• Lead on developing and implementing a program of CPD and training for new staff. Ensuring the team is aligned under the vision and values of the EE Academy.

• Facilitate operational synergy between Equal Education Academy and Equal Education Limited, leveraging group resources to optimise performance.

2. SEND Leadership (SENCO)

• Coordinate all SEND provision, ensuring the identification, assessment, and effective support of learners with complex needs.

• Oversee EHCP management, annual reviews, and the development of targeted Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).

• Oversee PEP management for Looked After Children

• Champion inclusive pedagogy, ensuring all staff adopt trauma-informed and adaptive teaching strategies.

• Manage multi-agency collaboration with families, local authorities, and external professionals to secure positive learner outcomes.

3. Safeguarding and Wellbeing (DSL)

• Serve as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), maintaining oversight of all safeguarding systems, referrals, and online safety protocols.

• Ensure policies remain compliant with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and best practice.

• Promote a culture of vigilance, ensuring learner wellbeing, attendance, and emotional safety are central to all Academy functions.

• Lead on multi-agency safeguarding processes and provide expert advice to the leadership team.

4. Leadership & Staff Development

• Design and deliver high-impact staff training programs, specifically focusing on safeguarding, online pedagogy, SEND frameworks, and inclusive, trauma-informed practice.

• Lead staff appraisal, coaching, and professional development to ensure high standards of accountability and growth.

• Foster a collaborative, reflective culture, supporting recruitment, induction, and retention.

• Support learner engagement, attendance and successful transition pathways

5. Partnership Working, Influence and Professional Representation

• Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders to drive seamless integration between Equal Education Academy and the wider Equal Education Limited group.Work closely with the Executive Headteacher, Group CEO and relevant members of operational teams to ensure effective collaboration across the group. 

• Develop and sustain effective partnerships with families, schools, local authorities, virtual schools, and external agencies.

• Support policy development, implementation, and review.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

• National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO). 

• Significant (3 years minimum) senior leadership experience in a school, AP, SEND, or online setting within the last year. 

• Proven experience in designing and delivering whole-school staff training.

• Extensive (1 year minimum) experience as a DSL (safeguarding) and SENCO (SEND provision).

• Deep understanding of KCSIE, the SEND Code of Practice, and OEAS/DfE requirements.

• Experience in reviewing teaching and learning to drive quality improvement.

• Significant experience supporting children and young people with barriers to learning and/or emerging or complex needs, including those with SEND, SEMH needs, interrupted education, Children Looked After, and learners requiring specialist or alternative provision.

• Significant experience supporting learners with EHCPs and complex needs, while coordinating multi-agency support and collaborating effectively with local authorities, schools, and external agencies.

The post holder will be responsible for managing relationships with partner agencies and coordinating co-locations within the Gaia service as well as negotiating for staff from the service to co-locate with partner agencies.

You will build capacity for a community response to meet the needs of survivors of VAWG by drawing on the expertise of other specialist and by-and-for service providers, such as those working with LGBTQ+ victim/survivors, disabled victim/survivors or victim/survivors of so-called ‘honor’-based violence in order to provide a wraparound support as part of a broader service offer.

The post holder will also support a team of the Peer Support Mentors and volunteers who will be leading on some practical aspects of individual and group support for survivors accessing the Gaia Centre.

The successful candidate will be skilled at working with a diverse range of audiences and will be adept at creating and developing new partnerships and pathways that contribute towards coordinated community response and improve the lives of survivors of domestic abuse and gender-based violence.

The role

The CF Therapist will report to the Senior CTS Therapist (CF & NM & Finchley).

The purpose of the role is to provide adaptive therapeutic massage to patients under referral from clinical teams, at the Chase Farm site within step-down, rehabilitation and chemotherapy infusion suite settings, supporting patients' comfort, relaxation, and well-being during recovery.

Unlike many complementary therapy roles, this position offers the best of both worlds.

The two-day-per-week structure provides the security and satisfaction of working within a respected healthcare setting while allowing you the flexibility to continue building and maintaining your private practice. For therapists who value variety and professional independence, this role offers an ideal balance that may not be possible in a full-time position.

You will also gain experience that is difficult to find elsewhere, delivering massage to patients within a busy hospital setting. This provides a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on people's wellbeing while developing specialist skills and experience in healthcare.

The team

Patient support brings together volunteering, complementary therapy, and wider charity patient-facing support into one integrated, site-based team at each of the four main hospital sites. Each hospital has a dedicated “charity space” with a core team that works together to provide a consistent, responsive, and easy‑to‑navigate offer for patients and families. Patient support site managers work closely with NHS site teams to ensure support reflects the clinical needs and demographics of each hospital. Volunteering and therapy roles are embedded locally rather than operating as separate teams, enabling continuity, flexibility, and equitable provision. A small central social rights and benefits team provides targeted, discharge‑focused advice for financially vulnerable patients.
