Our UK core team is small — just our Director and our Programme Manager — supported by wider BTS colleagues, our global BTS Spark team and a network of 30+ UK-based coaches and facilitators.
Job Description
Working closely with our UK Director, but with a significant degree of independence, you'll support almost every part of our UK operations:
- Plan and enable smooth programme delivery — allocating coaches and facilitators, scheduling group sessions, and managing logistics for face-to-face events
- Set up and launch coaching and leadership programmes on our digital platforms, and use Claude and other AI tools to speed up routine tasks like data entry, reporting and client updates
- Act as a trusted first point of contact for clients, managing relationships, delivering briefings and platform demos, and preparing data-led impact reports
- Handle new enquiries, follow through with quotations and information, and support business development and proposal writing with the Director
- Help grow our profile — co-ordinating social media content (particularly LinkedIn), updating our website, building landing pages, and supporting our alumni and marketing campaigns
- Forecast income, keep our financial systems up to date, and manage letters of engagement, purchase orders and invoicing requests.
- Provide occasional live support for virtual workshops, and executive assistant support to the Director
The balance of your week will shift through the year, with programme launches taking priority at times and more space for development work during school holidays. A key priority is to make full use of our AI capability (especially Claude) to speed up our processes and free up more time for the relationship-building and engagement work that matters most. This is something we’ll support you to build into your working practice from day one.
We're looking for candidates with the following attributes:

Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse (AAFDA) is a well-established and respected national charity offering specialist and expert advocacy and peer support to families bereaved by fatal domestic abuse. We have an exciting opportunity to build upon and grow our fundraising success to date, in the role ofFundraising and Grants Manager. We are seeking an experienced fundraising professional, with the drive and determination to manage all aspects of our fundraising function.
AAFDA is currently funded by statutory bodies, trusts and foundations, corporates, events and individuals. Under your management, you will identify, cultivate and grow these existing and new fundraising streams.As AAFDA’s Fundraising and Grants Manager, you will be responsible for oversight and growth of voluntary and statutory funding income, including from individuals (regular and one-off gifts, major donors and legacy giving), community groups, trusts and foundations, corporates, the statutory sector (including Police and Crime Commissioners) and other benefactors. Starting from a strong foundation with multiple opportunities for growth, you will lead on the delivery of our ambitious, multi-year, multi-disciplinary fundraising strategy with an annual fundraising plan agreed with senior management. With keen funder and customer awareness, you will regularly monitor and review both the plan and the strategy, in addition to working closely with our Finance Manager to manage diverse income streams and achieve income targets to fund AAFDA’s unique support and advocacy work with families bereaved by fatal domestic abuse. Holding responsibility for maintaining and developing the website and building social media programmes, you will undertake an ambassadorial approach in all activity to assist our CEO and Director of Services to lead and manage the AAFDA brand and corporate identity, with a focus on generating earned income, by extending awareness of what AAFDA does and how successful we are.

We have two fantastic opportunities to join our Service Charges team as Regional Service Charge Managers. Based from our office in Basingstoke, you'll combine office and home working in line with our hybrid approach, with occasional travel to our Wembley office for team meetings.
The Role
Reporting into the Head of Service Charge Setting and Administration, you'll be responsible for managing and coordinating the Regional Service Charges team in the South West region in the delivery of the service charge calculations (all tenure types) and annual service charge statements to customers in line with legal and regulatory requirements. The portfolio consists of approximately 20,000 units with a total annual service charge income budget of c.£20 million. Responsibilities include:
Managing the Regional Service Charge team with a focus on articulating a clear vision, providing direction, and promoting a culture of accountability, high performance, and continuous improvement
Setting the annual service charge expenditure and income budget across all tenures within the region
Accountability for the annual service charge estimate and final account process, ensuring the risk associated with rechargeable service charges is effectively managed and regulatory time scales are met
Working collaboratively across the business to support continuous service improvement and deliver excellent customer service to customers across different tenure types, ensuring compliance with legal requirements
Reviewing and approving the certification of annual service charges, documenting the calculation and apportionment process, including the reports and supporting documentation to facilitate the certification
Producing and analysing regular reports on recoverable repairs and maintenance expenditure, estimated service charge income and ad-hoc reports dependant on business requirements
What we're looking for
You should have previous experience in a similar management role within service charges. You'll need to demonstrate strong technical knowledge, being adept in managing fixed and variable charges in a large and complex setting, preferably in a housing context. You'll also need:

Thorough understanding of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985 (as amended) and other guidance and best practice for service charges

Strong experience with Microsoft Office applications, including intermediate / advanced excel
Knowledge and experience of using housing management and property management systems (e.g. Workday, SUN, Agresso, NEC, Active H or similar)

About the Role
As a Payroll Manager, you will take ownership of the full payroll lifecycle for a workforce of approximately 1,500-2,000+ employees, ensuring an accurate, compliant and timely payroll service.
You will lead a small payroll team, working closely with Finance and HR to ensure strong governance, reporting and continuous improvement across payroll operations.
As a Payroll Manager, you will:
- Lead the delivery of end-to-end payroll processing across monthly cycles
- Ensure payroll is accurate, compliant and delivered on time
- Manage payroll reconciliations, reporting and audit requirements
- Oversee complex payroll elements including statutory payments, deductions and variable pay
- Lead, coach and develop a team of Payroll Officers
- Act as a key point of contact for senior stakeholders across Finance and HR
- Provide payroll insights and reporting to support financial planning and decision-making
- Identify and implement improvements to payroll processes and systems
- Support system optimisation and work towards reducing manual processes
- Ensure submissions to HMRC and pension providers are accurate and timely
About You
Ideally, you will have significant experience managing payroll operations within a medium to large organisation, along with strong leadership and technical expertise.
You will be confident working in a complex, fast-paced environment and able to balance multiple priorities while maintaining high levels of accuracy and compliance.
You will need:
- Proven experience managing payroll for a large workforce (1,000+ employees)
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and compliance requirements
- Experience leading and developing payroll teams
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience working in a controlled or audit-focused environment
- Experience using payroll and HR systems (e.g. IRIS, Cascade or similar)
- A proactive approach to improving processes and systems
Experience within the charity sector or working in a complex, multi-site organisation would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts and project financial reports.
- Participate in regular management accounts meetings with budget holders; conduct variance analysis against budget and forecasts and provide commentary for senior management.
- Complete reconciliation of project related balance sheet accounts including accrued and prepaid expenditure, deferred and accrued income accounts.
- Respond to internal and external finance queries in a timely and professional manner.
- Process the month-end transactions in the accounting software (Xero).
- Prepare budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with the Head of Finance & Resources and budget holders to ensure accurate upload into the financial system.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of financial procedures and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist with the preparation of year-end accounts and liaise with auditors as required.
- Contribute to the compliance with relevant financial regulations, internal policies, and reporting standards.
- Undertake any other duties as required by the Head of Finance and Resources tp support the effective running of the finance function.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds an Association of Accounting Technicians Certificate, or an equivalent qualification.
- Has at least two years’ experience in a management accounting role.
- Has experience working within the charity sector.
- Is confident preparing accurate, timely and informative monthly management accounts.
- Has experience working with budget holders and providing clear financial advice and guidance to non-finance colleagues.
- Can analyse budgets, forecasts and variances, and explain financial information in a clear and accessible way.
- Has strong numeracy skills and experience working with multiple projects or funding streams.
- Is confident using Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel, including advanced Excel functions such as IF formulas and Pivot Tables.
- Has experience using accounting software; experience of Xero would be desirable.
- Understands, or is willing to develop knowledge of, charity finance, Charity SORP and relevant financial regulations.
