About the Role  

The Head of Finance will support the Director of Finance and Resources in providing strategic financial leadership across the charity. They will oversee day-to-day financial operations, ensure robust financial management, and deliver timely and accurate financial reporting to support decision-making. The postholder will play a key role in safeguarding the charity’s financial sustainability and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. 

Key Responsibilities  

Financial Planning 

• Preparation of annual budgets and long-term financial plans. 

• Provision of  financial analysis to inform strategic and operational decision-making. 

Financial Management & Reporting 

• Oversee the production of monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and cash flow forecasts. 

• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of year-end accounts and the coordination of external audits. 

• Provide regular financial reports and analysis in accordance with organisational timetables set by the Director of Finance & Resources. 

• Monitor restricted funds ensuring compliance with donor requirements. 

Governance & Compliance 

• Ensure compliance with Charity Commission, Companies House, HMRC, and other statutory requirements for filing of accounts. 

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of charity finance regulations, SORP, VAT, and tax issues relevant to the sector. 

Systems, Processes & Controls 

• Ensure that financial processes and procedures are fit for purpose, up to date and efficient. 

• Lead the development and maintenance of efficient financial systems, policies, and procedures. 

• Ensure effective internal controls are in place across the organisation to  facilitate accurate and timely delivery of reporting to support organisational decision making. 

• Oversee grant reporting and donor compliance. 

Team Leadership & Collaboration 

• Develop and support the finance team to deliver a high-quality service. 

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the finance function. 

• Work collaboratively with non-finance managers across the organisation to build financial awareness and accountability. 

Person Specification 

Essential 

• A relevant professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA). 

• Experience gained in a financial management role within a small or medium-sized organisation. 

• Experience in business planning, performance management and impact reporting.  

• Significant experience in managing a high-performance team. 

• Strong IT skills, particularly with accounting software and Excel. 

• Understanding of charity finance and accounting practices. 

• Strong understanding of charity law, governance best practices, and regulatory frameworks. 

• Excellent written and verbal communication. 
• Strong interpersonal with an ability to establish and maintain good working relationships.

We are a small but growing team of lawyers, communications experts, and campaigners. Our work is global, and we work in partnership with lawyers, civil society, unions, and people impacted by Big Tech.

The role

As Head of Operations, you will lead all operational functions of Foxglove. You will ensure that our finance, HR, legal compliance, fundraising, systems and internal processes enable the organisation to carry out its mission effectively. You’ll work across Foxglove and closely with leadership, as well as with external partners to build a resilient and well-governed organisation, able to manage growth and complexity while staying mission driven. This role manages one member of staff and multiple consultants. 

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Financial Management & Accounting

1.Oversee financial operations: budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, expenditure controls, financial reporting, payroll.

Operational Systems & Processes

2.Ensure proper policies and procedures are in place for procurement, vendor management, travel & expenses, and record-keeping.

3.Oversee the infrastructure that supports remote / hybrid working, ensuring tools and systems support collaboration, security, and productivity.

Compliance, Risk & Governance

1.Lead on organisational compliance: legal, regulatory, health & safety, data protection / GDPR, employment law.

Our partner, an established UK charity with a focus on fighting poverty by transforming access to health care services in lower- and middle-income countries in Africa seeks a highly dynamic individual for a one-year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of an extension. The position is part of the management team, and the post holder will be expected to lead on the financial accounting, management accounting, and budgeting for the organisation as well as taking forward some strategic finance and operations projects as we expand our programmes in existing countries. The individual will also be expected to support the Co-CEOs with administrative, compliance and IT related tasks.

Finance
•Maintain a strong control environment, ensuring accounting records are complete and accurate.
Financial accounting
•Prepare annual statutory accounts in accordance with SORP 2015.
•Prepare for the annual external audit and host auditors ensuring the audit process runs smoothly. This includes supporting Vision Action’s country offices in hosting their respective audits.
•Ensure annual statutory accounts are finalised and submitted to Companies House and the Charity Commission by the appropriate deadlines.

Management accounting
•Coordinate the month-end process with the Finance Officer (UK) and Programme Finance Lead, and review transaction postings.
•Prepare monthly management accounts with cash flow forecasts, modifying the format as needed to suit the preferences of senior management and the Board of Trustees.
•Prepare the annual organisational budget and mid-year reforecast.
•Improve existing budget templates to enable straightforward and transparent budgeting for donors.
Support to country offices
•Collaborate with the Programme Finance Lead on a monthly basis to reconcile intercompany accounts, ensuring that reconciling items are cleared promptly.
•Support country office teams in fulfilling any reporting and financial compliance requirements.
•Conduct internal process reviews (internal audits) of country offices where required.
•Review the bi-weekly payment runs for the UK office and the monthly country office fund requests, ensuring cash flow planning is in place for these payments.

Administration

Interim Director of Finance & Resources – FTC until 31 December 2026 (with possibility for extension/ permanent)

The Director of Finance & Resources role is a pivotal position at Leukaemia UK. You will be part of the Senior Management Team reporting to the Chief Executive, working closely with them and fellow Directors to drive the charity’s long-term business strategy and organisational culture. You will oversee the day to day Financial, HR, IT, and Facilities Management operations, and work closely with the CEO on charity governance.

We are a ‘small but mighty’ charity with one big ambition: to stop leukaemia devastating lives. Over the next 10 years we want to help save and improve the lives of more people with leukaemia through finding and funding life-changing research, awareness and advocacy.

Despite progress in recent decades, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a blood cancer every 16 minutes and survival rates are among some of the worst of any cancer.  And the physical and psychological impact can be lifelong.

The Director of Finance and Resources is key to our strategy and to leading the charity to the next level as part of the Senior Leadership Team. We are looking for an experienced Director to help us lead the transition from one strategy to the next in 2026 by leading our financial planning and reporting, together with our people first culture. The role of Director of Finance and Resources is central to almost every area of our work. You will be responsible for:

· effective financial management,

· people and organisational design and culture,

· governance and legal,

· IT and premises.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the post holder will be able to work strategically, autonomously and collaboratively as a critical member of the Senior Leadership Team which consists of this role and a Director of Research & Advocacy, Director of Fundraising, and Director of Communications. You will have responsibility for working with the Board and managing the Finance Committee, People & Culture Committee and Remuneration Committee. The post holder will consistently embody our values of bold, curious and collaborative in their strategic leadership of the Directorate.

You will be able to step into the role quickly, already being experienced in senior financial leadership alongside oversight of other support functions. Your background could be within the charity sector or other dynamic organisations,  and you will bring a real drive to be part of making something great! The role mixes strategic oversight with hands-on doing as is usual in smaller organisations, and you will be comfortable balancing these ways of working.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

• Qualified accountant.
• Successful track record in leading a finance function, ideally in a charity or not-for-profit organisation.
• Previous experience in managing external audit, risk management, payroll, pension, and procurement functions.
• Successful track record in line management, building teams and engaging working climates, where staff are motivated, performing to a high standard and engaged.
• Experience building an inclusive culture and creating workplace systems and processes in line with this culture.
• Evidence of working with board members and other senior management to help deliver strategic objectives, good governance and financial priorities.

We’re looking for an Income Officer to join our Fundraising Team on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract. As an Income Officer at the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association, you’ll play a key role in ensuring all income is processed efficiently, accurately, and with the highest standards of supporter care. You’ll help maintain the integrity of our income data and make sure every supporter’s contribution is handled with respect and precision. Key Responsibilities:

• Process income and related data accurately on the CRM database, ensuring all income is accurate and coded correctly
• Allocate restricted income in line with supporters’ wishes and organisational guidelines
• Maintain strong relationships with supporters, responding to enquiries by phone, email, or post with professionalism and care
• Manage over 7,000 regular supporters through Direct Debit, Standing Order, and Payroll Giving, including reconciliations and regular transaction processing
• Carry out Gift Aid checks before HMRC submissions and help maximise Gift Aid income
• Maintain and manage financial and data systems with high data integrity, ensuring compliance with Data Protection and audit requirements
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to streamline processes and identify practical improvements to manage increasing transaction volumes

Finance
