The role
You will be responsible for the development and delivery of our Community Services; ensuring they
deliver against our strategic ambitions. Working with our Head of Home and Hospital and Head of
Information and Advice you will also ensure effective integration between service areas, and that our
people are consistently led and managed.
Background to the role
The post has been vacant since October, since then we’ve undertaken a review of our community team
and our current community delivery – it’s important we get these things right if we are to deliver our
ambitious strategy. By the time you begin in role there will be a clear plan for development which you will
lead on delivering.
This is a challenging and rewarding role; you’ll have expertise in the needs of older people as well as
experience of change management and of leading operations. You will be resilient and will have values

About you

This role reports to the Chief Communications Officer and will requires collaborative working with members of the Society's governance structure and the Heads of Scientific Programmes and Development Opportunities respectively, responsible for creating and delivering the society's overall communication strategy across all channels including social media and website, overseeing policy and membership engagement activities, promoting member expertise to policymakers in the UK and internationally and encourage member engagement through opportunities the the Society's 'Get Involved' campaign.
The postholder will have experience working within science communication, displaying strong scientific knowledge while delivering high impact engagement campaigns. It is essential to have experience in People Management as this role oversees the different branches of the Engagement and Storytelling theme covering Communication, Policy and Membership.

Summary of Responsibilities

About the role:

Role Requirements
- Develop, implement and monitor a fundraising strategy across all public fundraising areas aligned to the voluntary income strategy.

About the role

Key Activities
Donation Processing
- Responsible for the timely recording and processing of all incoming donations (including via our website, bank account, third party platforms and cheques) into the Medair UK CRM (Salesforce).
- Ensure all donors receive gift acknowledgements / thank you letters corresponding to each gift received.
- Maintain up-to-date records of donors, staff and other contacts in the Medair UK database.
- Process and record completed Gift Aid declarations and support in the regular reclaim of Gift Aid.
Financial Administration
- Inputting of all financial data (income and expenditure) into Quick Books.
