The Job
Reporting to the Senior Fundraising Manager, this role sits within the Communications, Engagement and Fundraising team. The Church Engagement and Events Officer will play a key role in building relationships with churches, supporters and volunteers across Britain, Ireland and Europe, helping them engage more deeply with USPG's vision and mission.
You will lead the planning and delivery of USPG's events programme, including the USPG Conference, Founder's Day, In Conversation Dinners and the annual Carol Service, as well as supporting the organisation's presence at festivals, synods and other national events. Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you will help create inspiring and engaging experiences that raise awareness of USPG's global mission.
As the first point of contact for many church supporters, you will provide excellent stewardship, support and resources that inspire churches and communities to engage through prayer, giving and action. You will also contribute to the development of USPG's church engagement activity, helping to strengthen supporter relationships and increase engagement across the church year.

You are a confident and proactive relationship builder with experience in planning events and working with churches, supporters, volunteers or Christian organisations. You are passionate about helping people engage with mission, justice and the global Church.
An organised and effective communicator, you can manage multiple projects and events, build strong stakeholder relationships and work independently while contributing to a collaborative team. Marketing and External Engagement

Key Areas of Responsibility
Strategic Leadership and Service Development
- Contribute as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team to WCT’s organisational strategy, business planning and future development.
- Provide strategic leadership for the community-based services portfolio, ensuring services remain relevant, effective and aligned with WCT’s mission, values and strategic priorities.
- Use service data, community insight, evaluation and feedback to identify opportunities for improvement, innovation and growth.
- Work with the CEO and colleagues to identify funding and partnership opportunities that support the sustainability and development of services.
People Leadership and Management
- Lead, support and develop managers and team leads within the service area, setting clear expectations and ensuring effective supervision, performance management and communication.
- Promote a positive, accountable and inclusive culture that encourages teamwork, professional development, initiative and continuous improvement.
- Ensure staffing structures, deployment and resources are appropriate to contractual requirements, service demand and available budgets.
- Support recruitment, induction, development and, where required, formal peoplemanagement processes in line with WCT policy.
Contract, Performance and Quality Management
- Oversee the implementation and delivery of multiple contracts, grants and commissioned services across the community-based portfolio.
- Ensure clear systems are in place to monitor outputs, outcomes, quality, contractual milestones and service-user experience.
- Analyse quantitative and qualitative information and produce clear, accurate reports for funders, commissioners, the CEO, Senior Leadership Team and Board of Trustees.
- Ensure subcontracted or partner-delivered activity is appropriately monitored and managed where applicable.
- Address underperformance promptly and support managers to implement effective improvement plans.
Financial Management and Sustainability
- Lead the development and management of service budgets, including budgets of significant value, ensuring expenditure remains within agreed funding and organisational parameters.
- Monitor income, expenditure, forecasts and variances in partnership with the Head of Finance & Resources and relevant managers.
- Ensure resources are used efficiently and that services demonstrate value for money and financial sustainability.
- Contribute to funding applications, tenders, business cases and service-costing activity where required.
Risk, Governance and Compliance
- Identify, assess and manage risks relating to service delivery and ensure significant risks are escalated through WCT’s organisational risk-management arrangements.
- Ensure services comply with contractual requirements, WCT policies, data protection requirements, safeguarding arrangements and relevant legislation and guidance.
- Contribute to the development and review of organisational policies and procedures within the postholder’s areas of responsibility.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries, confidentiality and information-governance standards.
Partnerships and Representation
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with commissioners, funders, statutory agencies, VCSE organisations, local communities and other partners.
- Represent WCT professionally at strategic and operational partnership meetings, networks and forums.
- Promote collaboration across WCT services and with external partners to improve pathways, reduce duplication and strengthen outcomes for local people.
- Protect and enhance the reputation of WCT in all internal and external relationships.
Safeguarding, Health & Safety and Organisational Responsibilities
- Actively promote a culture in which safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and ensure
concerns within the service area are managed and escalated in accordance with WCT

About the Role
Research in Practice (RiP) works with organisations across social care, health, criminal justice and education to support professional learning. We create learning opportunities and resources by interpreting the latest research evidence, working with professionals to share practice wisdom, and listening to people with lived experience, in order to achieve positive outcomes for people of all ages.
This role is in our Partner Engagement Team which works with member organisations in the Research in Practice Partnership Network to build learning cultures and make best use of their membership offer. This role works across adults and child and family services and supports the implementation of evidence-informed workforce development across all levels of seniority.

The Role
We're looking for a proactive, experieced and highly rganised Fundraising Officer to lead on our relationships with trusts and foundations. This is a varied role at the heart of our organisation - you'll manage existing funder relationships, research new funding opportunities, and write winning applications to help fund our work.
Reporting to our Communications & Partnerships Lead, you’ll play a key role in growing income from trusts and foundations to support both our core running costs and specific projects.
Day to day, you'll:
- Manage our existing portfolio of grant awards - keeping track of conditions and reporting requirements
- Write clear, engaging funder reports and thank-you communications that build lasting relationships
- Research and identify new trusts and foundations whose priorities align with our work

About You
We're looking for someone with a passion for creating positive change and the drive to make that happen, someone who combines strong research and organisational skills with the ability to write winning applications. An experienced fundraiser you'll have:
- A proven track record of writing successful trust funding applications and funder reports
- Excellent written communication skills and great attention to detail
- Strong research and organisational skills, with the ability to manage deadlines and priorities
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Experience in a small or place-based charity is a plus but not essential - what matters most is your ability to write persuasively, collaborate creatively with others, and stay on top of a busy portfolio.
