About you
We are looking for someone with a background in service delivery; with experience of providing information and advice, and designing and delivering training and learning.
The ideal post holder will be equally comfortable planning strategically and rolling up their sleeves to deliver. This means we need someone who is a great communicator with excellent leadership skills who can also turn their hand to managing budgets and client accounts, helping us to plan the future development of our services offer.

Job Purpose
We are looking for a versatile and enthusiastic public-facing team member to support the development, launch and operation of ANT’s new commercial ventures - including plans to launch ecotourism, commercial rental offerings at Lower Chew Forest and carry out scoping of green burials - to start generating commercial income which can go back into supporting the charity’s ongoing work.
This is a dynamic role that will involve supporting the successful launch and operation of new ventures through focusing on optimising and improving the experience of paying visitors to the site, taking into account all aspects of their journey with us - from hearing about us and booking to their actual visit, and onto aftercare and follow-ups to encourage repeat visits. As part of this, the role will also support the development of new branding and marketing materials and ‘added value’ extras that can enhance the visitor experience and generate additional revenue.
You will be joining a small but mighty team working hard to make exciting new ideas a reality and a success.
Main responsibilities
Leading on ensuring excellent visitor experience, including facilitating bookings; fielding customer service needs, enquiries & issues (digital, on the phone and in person); identifying and solving or escalating issues; and tailoring our digital marketing and on-site offerings to ensure guest satisfaction
Supporting with the development of new branding and marketing materials for commercial ventures as required, focusing initially on our new ecotourism offering at Lower Chew Forest
Supporting the operational setup and smooth running of ecotourism at Lower Chew Forest, for example through researching possible operational approaches, systems and tools, making recommendations and supporting their implementation and smooth running
Researching, proposing and implementing ancillary offerings for guests (such as experiences, events and memorial items) which both add value to their experience and generate additional revenue for the charity, and forming the partnerships to deliver them - including working alongside our fundraising team
Collecting, collating and analysing visitor data - such as reviews, feedback, spend and engagement with our various offerings - and reporting on these with recommendations to management and trustees
Supporting a small but busy and growing Business Development team flexibly as needs change - for example by supporting the development of new ventures such as biochar production, or the scoping of emerging commercial opportunities across the Lower Chew Valley and beyond
Work with the wider Avon Needs Trees team to help build a resilient, multi-site charity with a flourishing commercial arm, undertaking other work necessary to pursue our aims

About the Role
The role sits within the Communications, Engagement and Fundraising (CEF) directorate and reports to its director. We are seeking an experienced fundraising professional to join us as Head of Fundraising. Coram is the UK’s oldest children’s charity founded by Thomas Coram in London helping vulnerable children and young people since 1739. One of the twelve members of the Coram group, Coram Children’s Legal Centre (CCLC) is the UK’s specialist centre for children’s rights in education, immigration, community care and family law, and provides significant international legal systems consultancy. The centre is located on the Coram Campus in central London with a base in Colchester. We champion access to justice through information and advice, legal practice and representation, policy and strategic litigation. Our Legal Practice Unit provides advice and representation primarily under legal aid contract. Our Policy and Practice Change team promotes practice change through training and capacity building to professionals and secures systems change through research, policy and advocacy.
About the role
This role will provide leadership and management for CCLC particularly focused on the Legal Practice Unit’s legal aid billing operations. Through systematic and efficient management, the post-holder will play a pivotal role in CCLC’s financial and operational sustainability. The role will be accountable for maximising the unit’s legal aid billing in controlled work, certificated work and inter partes costs and will hold responsibility for the unit’s billing systems. It will also be responsible for private fees billing. The post-holder will oversee the smooth running of legal aid billing including through line management of the billing team. The post-holder will work very closely with legal, operations and administrative staff. The role will act as a key point of contact for a range of internal and external stakeholders including Coram’s central finance team who will support the role with grant fund management and overall accounting functions for CCLC. The post-holder will support the Managing Director of Legal Practice and Children’s Rights and department heads in the successful maintenance of our relationship with the Legal Aid Agency. Where appropriate they will be deputising for the Managing Director on legal aid and financial matters.
The role would suit a highly organised and efficient legal, or a finance or billing professional with solid experience of legal practice and a deep understanding of the challenges of legal aid. Whilst candidates with direct experience of legal billing (and more specifically civil legal aid billing) are welcomed, we recognise that this is a highly specialised and niche field. As such, this role could suit a highly experienced solicitor who appreciates the important role developing sustainable businesses plays in ensuring access to justice and who therefore wishes to move into practice and financial management. They will need an aptitude for processing large amounts of data, developing and managing spreadsheets and improving organisational systems. However, they will be well supported through training, an enthusiastic and competent junior billing team, the central finance team and an outsourced legal cashiering company, as well as a friendly and collaborative management team including the Managing Director and the Heads of Education Law, Community Care Law and Immigration and Asylum Law.
This is a largely office-based role in order to fully provide support to the billing team. However, some remote / hybrid working may be possible depending the experience of the candidate after the initial settling in period and there will be flexibility over how the four days will be spread across the week (within working hours). The team are mostly based in the London office and with one billing team member in Colchester so the post holder may require some occasional travel.

You will ensure that our external partnerships are well managed, and that we are continuing to secure the resources and relationships needed to effectively deliver on our strategy in this fast-moving space.
The programme is structured as three workstreams, which work across our projects and products. The workstreams Leads are responsible for delivery, so a key part of your role will be in supporting and enabling them and their teams to effectively deliver on their goals:
The workstreams all work across Forest 500, Forest 500 – Finance, Floresta 250 – Cattle, Deforestation-free Finance Sector Guidance, Forest IQ, and DEFT Pathway.
You will also hold overall budget and fundraising responsibilities for the team and be supported by a dedicated Finance Business Partner and our Development Team.
You will ensure that we are making the most of the technical expertise, data and other synergies across Global Canopy as a whole, leveraging the time and skills of regional and cross-cutting programmes, such as the Brazil-based team and Human Rights and Learning & Development functions.

Salary: £70,000 full time equivalent (This role sits within Band B on Global Canopy’s remuneration framework.)
Nature of contract: Full- or part-time (0.8 FTE), fixed term (24 months). We are a flexible employer and welcome candidates wishing to work flexibly.
Base: Our office is in Oxford, with flexible home-working arrangements in place. Ability to attend the office fortnightly at minimum would be desirable. We will support UK visa sponsorship for this position.
Holidays: 36 days (including bank/public holidays) for discretionary use across the annual leave year. Option to purchase up to an additional 5 days or equivalent of one week’s leave.
Pension: Employer pension contribution of 8%.

Role description:
This role works very closely with colleagues across multiple internal teams including our Clinical Team (working with a Health Lead), our Marketing team (including Social Media Manager, Senior Marketing Manager, and Brand and Creative colleagues) and our Policy Team. This role will need to be well networked across teams including Nations and Regions teams and Strategy and Planning.
Externally, this role will work closely with peers at the British Heart Foundation, and Cancer Research UK. The role will also work with colleagues at Tesco, which will also include their PR and communications agencies.
You will also play an active role in driving and supporting best practice across the team and charity and will also contribute to cross-team projects and other tasks as required.
The ideal candidate:
The ideal candidate will have account management experience with a track record of delivering six and seven-figure strategic partnerships either within a charity or corporate setting. Good time management and organisational skills are required to manage a busy and diverse workload. You’ll need strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and negotiate effectively with a range of stakeholders at all levels of seniority. Using your excellent communication skills, you will be able to convey ideas succinctly and persuasively to create impactful proposals and other communications.
You’ll have good understanding of commercial principles, understand what drives businesses, and how to lead and deliver multi-stream income generation that are mutually beneficial through partnership. You’ll have a passion for identifying new financial and non-financial opportunities and be proactive in your approach to seeking these out. Having a collaborative approach to work is vital in this role, so you’ll build excellent relationships with internal colleagues and external stakeholders, operating with trust, respect, and transparency.
