About the role

As Events Manager, you’ll lead Birmingham Hospice’s events programme end-to-end, combining strategic planning with hands-on delivery. You’ll work closely with the Senior Fundraising Project Manager to shape an ambitious events programme that strengthens Birmingham Hospice’s brand while delivering real financial impact.

You will:

• Act as the events lead within the Income Generation team, sharing insight and supporting colleagues across the charity
• Lead the development and delivery of the annual events plan, creating a dynamic, costeffective programme that inspires supporters and drives income
• Line manage two Events Officers, providing regular 1:1s, development support and inspirational leadership
• Manage a varied portfolio including mass participation, third-party challenges, adrenaline events and special events
• Deliver against agreed income and expenditure budgets, contributing to an overall events income target of around £250k, including a £50k headline event
• Track income and expenditure day-to-day, produce post-event evaluations, and use learning to continuously improve future activity
• Identify new growth opportunities, using market insight and sector trends to expand participation and reach new audiences
• Build strong internal relationships across clinical, retail and corporate teams to promote events and maximise engagement
• Ensure all events meet high standards of health & safety, compliance and supporter care
• Oversee volunteers, apprentices and placements, ensuring a positive and professional experience for everyone involved

About you

You’ll be a confident, motivated events professional with charity sector experience and a strong track record of delivering successful fundraising events. You’ll bring:

• Proven experience delivering fundraising events, ideally including mass participation and third-party challenges
• Experience working in the charity sector
• Experience of line managing one or two staff, with a supportive, confident leadership style
• Strong event delivery skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines
• Experience managing budgets and contributing to income targets
• Excellent communication and organisational skills, with a collaborative approach
• A proactive mindset, keen to test new ideas and grow audiences

The role is Birmingham-based, primarily at Selly Park, with regular working from Erdington. The team typically spends at least two days per week onsite, alongside event delivery. This is a truly generalist HR role where we are seeking a CIPD qualified HR professional and purpose-driven manager who will bring energy, empathy, and expertise to our employee and volunteer experience. You’ll be equally confident in advising managers and leaders on people matters as delivering operational processes, from recruitment and onboarding to pay and contracts.

You’ll be able to navigate processes with confidence, ensuring our people feel supported, valued, and equipped to perform at their best You will have experience of creating a positive, engaging and inclusive experience for everyone who chooses to give their time and skills to The Charity both an employee and a volunteer. Whilst we recognise candidates won’t necessarily have experience of managing a volunteer workforce, a passion for volunteering or volunteering experience is desirable.

You’ll be curious, digitally minded and comfortable using insight and feedback to drive improvements. But above all, you’ll be motivated by our vision to find a cure for brain tumours and will be inspired by how incredible people and volunteering practices can play a part in making this happen.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Managing people operations and advisory support

· Support managers with employee relations advice and guidance (informal and formal people processes), acting as a trusted expert on all people policy and process matters.

· Oversee the employee lifecycle from recruitment through to leaving The Charity, ensuring inclusive, legally compliant and engaging processes throughout each stage.

· Work with the People and Culture Officer to design recruitment campaigns and talent attraction that contribute to building a diverse talent pipeline.

· Manage onboarding and induction processes to ensure a positive first 100 days at The Charity.

· Oversee the communication and administration of policies, contracts, payroll changes, and compliance checks (Right to Work, DBS, references).

· Partner with People & Culture team members to plan and deliver initiatives relating to wellbeing, performance, reward and recognition, and EDI.

· Maintain accurate records on PeopleHR (our HR database) and Team Tailor (our Applicant Tracking System), ensuring compliance with employment law and GDPR.

Managing volunteering operations

· Lead the operational plan with respect to volunteering, ensuring volunteering supports departmental priorities. This will include acting as the central point of contact for volunteering operations, providing guidance, support and inspiration to teams and volunteers on volunteering policy and process.

· Oversee the recruitment, induction and training of volunteers, working with the People and Culture Officer, Learning and Development Lead and People Administrator, developing digital and in-person learning resources. This will include promoting volunteering opportunities internally and externally, ensuring clear and engaging communications.

· Support the Head of People and Culture to develop recognition initiatives to ensure volunteers feel valued and connected, including campaigns such as Volunteers’ Week and Trustees’ Week, working alongside the Internal Communications Manager role.

· Support Volunteer Coordinators across teams with advice, training and problem-solving to ensure a consistently excellent volunteer experience.

· Ensure volunteering activity is safe and aligned with safeguarding, risk and data protection standards through ensuring policies and procedures are up to date and compliant with legislation.

· Manage the volunteer management system (Volunteero) and use data and feedback to evaluate and improve the volunteer experience.

Supporting values-led best practice through our work

· Build strong collaborative relationships with team members across The Charity to maximise the contribution of both employees and volunteers.

· Champion our values of being bold, collaborative, innovative, and community first through all people and volunteer initiatives.

· Keep abreast of external best practice in HR and volunteering to ensure our approaches are inclusive and effective.

· Provide line management support to People and Culture team members where relevant, ensuring clarity of expectations and activities, and supporting their development and wellbeing.

Guts UK is the only charity that covers the digestive system from top to tail, including the gut, the liver and the pancreas. The charity focuses particularly on the conditions that have no other specific charity or voice - conditions that are underserved, such as pancreatitis, diverticular disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), childhood gut and liver disease, and digestive cancers. With their mission being to improve the lives of the millions of people affected by digestive conditions, they are looking for their first Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy Manager to help them reach that goal.

The Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy Manager is responsible for developing and implementing plans to maximise income from corporate partners and high net worth individuals with the propensity to donate significant sums. There is huge scope to develop both income streams at Guts UK, as this is the first dedicated position covering these income streams.

With some fantastic corporate partnerships in place already, there is great potential to build on the existing foundations and leverage those corporate partnerships to secure more ranging from transactional right up to transformational.

The philanthropy function has green shoots to nurture and develop. This is an exciting role for a candidate who wants to grow and shape this income stream, and demonstrate their personal impact on generating income, and providing donors with an incredible supporter experience.

Who are Guts UK looking for?

This role would suit an experienced, corporate and/or philanthropy fundraiser with well-developed relationship management skills. Someone who is excited by the opportunity of shaping, developing and elevating these important supporters for the charity.

Guts UK are open to applications from those looking to develop their expertise and will be fully supported, should they not have equal experience in corporate partnerships and philanthropy. The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate experience across areas such as corporate prospecting, pitching and account management. 

Guts UK is a small charity with big ambition so a background that includes working within a smaller charity would be helpful for the candidate to have but isn't essential.

In this pivotal role, you’ll bring communities, healthcare partners and local insight together to dismantle barriers, build trust, and shape a model that could change outcomes across the UK.

What the job involves

As the Project Manager, you’ll lead an innovative pilot designed to tackle late diagnosis of prostate cancer in Black men. Day to day, you’ll shape and deliver a regional model that breaks down systemic barriers to early diagnosis - from coordinating the unification of efforts to address drivers of inequity in prostate cancer to establishing a new bridging fund to support cross-sector partnerships. You’ll work closely with community organisations, Primary Care Networks and NHS stakeholders, bringing people together to build trust and drive practical, measurable improvements.

What we want from you

You’ll be someone who cares deeply about health equity and is motivated by making real change happen for Black men in prostate cancer. We’re looking for someone who has experience designing or delivering community‑based health projects and feels confident working across sectors to build strong, equitable partnerships. You’ll bring strategic thinking, the ability to turn insight into action, and the communication skills to engage, influence and inspire. You’ll be comfortable managing timelines, budgets and reporting impact, and you’ll bring a strong understanding of public health, health equity or programme management. Most importantly, you’ll champion inclusion, cultural sensitivity and our values in everything you do.

As this role is supporting our work in the West Midlands, candidates must live within, or no more than 30 minutes from, one of the following NHS Health Trust areas: Herefordshire and Worcestershire, Black Country, Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, Birmingham and Solihull, or Coventry and Warwickshire.

As Finance and Operations Manager at Fight Bladder Cancer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and building our finance and operational functions at a strategic level.

You will support all aspects of the charity’s work and development through the provision of strong financial assistance - ensuring accurate financial reporting, sales and other invoicing, bookkeeping, grant management and payroll management.

You will also take day-to-day responsibility for organisational administration. 

This role will involve close collaboration with our small team (currently 7.5 FTE) to ensure our day-to-day finance and operational requirements are met, working closely with the CEO and Board of Trustees to build greater financial resilience and strategic financial awareness within the charity.

To enable Operation Smile’s global surgical activities, OSUK’s Partnerships Team works to maximise high-potential income channels such as corporate partnerships, major donors, community fundraisers and trusts and foundations.

We have an exciting position in our team for an experienced and ambitious trusts fundraiser. Working as part of the Partnership Team and line managing one Grants & Programmes Manager, the Senior Grants & Programmes Manager will secure critical income from new and existing trust and foundation donors through compelling pitches and excellent stewardship.

The position will build on existing multiyear relationships with donors giving at the six-figure level per year, aiming to grow their contributions, as well as making approaches to new prospects, working closely with the Director of Partnerships. The role is also the key liaison between OSUK and teams at Operation Smile Inc and in programme countries around the world, leading on donor reporting and sourcing programmatic information for new funding opportunities.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Trust and Foundation Funding Development

• Ensure achievement of annual income target for trusts and foundations
• Take primary responsibility for managing the current pool of trust/foundation donors, to ensure their growth and longevity – strategic input into the growth of each relationship will be essential
• Develop and maintain a pipeline of new funding prospects, creating propositions/proposals and making approaches, working with the Director of Partnerships, with a focus on the highest value prospects (those worth six-figures per year plus)
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting to donors and internal stakeholders
• Represent Operation Smile UK in global funding discussions, applying any global strategies to develop successful fundraising plans for the UK
• Lead on development and management of any trust/foundation cultivation events

Programmes Liaison

• Lead on interaction with global teams at Operation Smile Inc (US) and programme country teams around the world, regarding OSUK’s funding of programmes
• Identify funding opportunities for new prospects and existing donors, sourcing relevant programmatic and financial information
• Support the allocation of OSUK’s funds to a portfolio of programmes that best meet our donors’ interests, and work with colleagues internationally to reallocate funds when needed
• Monitor projects’ progress against KPIs and ensure donor reporting (programmatic and financial) is complete and timely, and meets donors’ needs and expectations

Additional Responsibilities

• Line-manage one Grants & Programmes Manager, supporting them to manage their own portfolio of new prospects and existing relationships, including small trusts mailings
• Create and maintain annual trusts and foundations income and expenditure budgets and business plans, including current donors and forecasting new business income

• 4 years’ experience in a trusts/foundations/institutional funding role
• We promote flexible and hybrid working, with 2 days per week in our London office in Battersea (nearest stations Clapham Junction and Wandsworth Town). There will also be some UK travel for meetings, conferences and events.

About African Rainbow Family

African Rainbow Family (ARF) is a UK-based, lived-experience-led grassroots organisation working with and for LGBTIQ+ refugees and people seeking asylum of African heritage and the Global Majority.

ARF was founded in 2014 in response to the criminalisation and persecution of LGBTIQ+ people across parts of Africa and the Commonwealth. The organisation provides advocacy, peer support, advice, training and counselling, while campaigning locally, nationally and internationally to challenge injustice and promote equality and human rights.

ARF operates from its head office in Manchester and has centres in Leeds, Birmingham, London and Swansea.

About the Role

The Operations Manager role is a new and senior position within African Rainbow Family and will play a key role in supporting the organisation’s strategic and operational development.

The postholder will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the organisation, managing staff and volunteers, ensuring effective service delivery and leading on income generation and funding applications.

The role works closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Trustees, staff, volunteers and external stakeholders to ensure ARF operates effectively, sustainably and in line with its values and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

The postholder will be responsible for:

• Managing the day-to-day operations of African Rainbow Family, ensuring efficient and effective organisational delivery

• Line managing staff and volunteers, including recruitment, induction, supervision and performance management

• Overseeing service delivery across all ARF centres to ensure consistency, quality and compliance with funder requirements

• Managing organisational budgets and monitoring expenditure against agreed targets

• Leading on income generation, including researching funding opportunities and writing grant and funding applications

• Developing, reviewing and implementing organisational policies, procedures and systems

• Ensuring compliance with governance, safeguarding, health and safety and regulatory requirements

• Building and maintaining relationships with funders, partners, commissioners and key stakeholders

• Supporting strategic planning and reporting to the CEO and Board of Trustees

Person Specification

Essential

• Minimum of two years’ experience in an operations, project or organisational management role

• Proven experience of managing staff and volunteers

• Experience of managing budgets and financial reporting

• Demonstrable experience of researching and writing successful grant or funding applications

• Knowledge of charity governance, compliance and operational processes

• Strong organisational, communication and leadership skills

• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities

Desirable

• Experience working within the charity or voluntary sector

• Experience working with LGBTIQ+ refugees or people seeking asylum

• Knowledge of asylum, immigration or human rights policy

• Experience using databases or CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce)

• Experience in advocacy, campaigning or media work

Guts UK is the only charity that covers the digestive system from top to tail, including the gut, the liver and the pancreas. The charity focuses particularly on the conditions that have no other specific charity or voice - conditions that are underserved, such as pancreatitis, diverticular disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), childhood gut and liver disease, and digestive cancers. With their mission being to improve the lives of the millions of people affected by digestive conditions, they are looking for their first Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy Manager to help them reach that goal.

The Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy Manager is responsible for developing and implementing plans to maximise income from corporate partners and high net worth individuals with the propensity to donate significant sums. There is huge scope to develop both income streams at Guts UK, as this is the first dedicated position covering these income streams.

With some fantastic corporate partnerships in place already, there is great potential to build on the existing foundations and leverage those corporate partnerships to secure more ranging from transactional right up to transformational.

The philanthropy function has green shoots to nurture and develop. This is an exciting role for a candidate who wants to grow and shape this income stream, and demonstrate their personal impact on generating income, and providing donors with an incredible supporter experience.

Who are Guts UK looking for?

This role would suit an experienced, corporate and/or philanthropy fundraiser with well-developed relationship management skills. Someone who is excited by the opportunity of shaping, developing and elevating these important supporters for the charity.

Guts UK are open to applications from those looking to develop their expertise and will be fully supported, should they not have equal experience in corporate partnerships and philanthropy. The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate experience across areas such as corporate prospecting, pitching and account management. 

Guts UK is a small charity with big ambition so a background that includes working within a smaller charity would be helpful for the candidate to have but isn't essential.

You’ll bring experience from the retail sector with a proven track record of contributing to sales targets. You’ll understand what great customer service looks like and be keen to instil your passion and standards in those around you. Organised, approachable and proactive, you’ll enjoy coaching and motivating volunteers, encouraging new ideas and supporting a culture of continuous improvement.
