About the team
The Investment Team is responsible for selecting portfolio partners, managing our charity investments and supporting our portfolio partners to improve and scale their impact.
The Investment Team also leads the Impetus Leadership Academy, a leadership development programme to support talent from ethnic minority backgrounds in the UK youth sector to progress into senior leadership roles.
The team is made up of 19 people, including former teachers, charity chief executives, charity impact leads, management consultants, social investment portfolio managers and impact consultants.
The team is led by a Portfolio Director who sits on the Senior Management Team. The Portfolio Director has 5 direct reports: a Deputy Portfolio Director, three Sector Leads (who lead our work in School engagement, School attainment and Employment Sectors) and an Impact Lead. Sector Leads line manage 6 Investment Directors. Investment Directors line manage Investment Managers (currently 6). Investment Directors and Investment Managers tend to primarily focus on a sector but might have mixed portfolios, depending on need, experience and interest.
The Investment Team has a good track record of role progression. All four Leads and a number of our Investment Directors were promoted from within the team.

We support a portfolio of 23 high potential charity and non-profit partners in the youth sector, helping them deliver benchmark-beating employment and education outcomes for young people, and to grow.

Key responsibilities
Finding high potential charities and non-profit organisations to join our portfolio
- Supporting the annual cycle of identifying new investments - mapping the landscape of charities in thematic areas (e.g. Apprenticeships and Skills), conducting structured analysis of key impact and financial data and reviewing the current evidence base to identify high potential charities and inform options for Investment Directors.
- Contributing to due diligence of new organisations by reviewing quantitative and qualitative charity information ) and preparing clear assessments of suitability for investment; This includes considering impact and scale potential, financial stability and summarising risks and recommendations for senior review. Requires strong relationship management, in co-ordination with Investment Directors, when engaging with potential charity partners.
- Supporting Investment Directors in developing, preparing and presenting high quality investment propositions to our Investment Committee.
Supporting and managing relationships with portfolio partners
- Working closely with Investment Directors to support portfolio partners across all areas of our work - leadership, impact and sustainability – owning defined(e.g. impact management or financial analysis).
- Building trust-based relationships with portfolio partners including senior leaders and delivery staff, acting as a valued advisor on practice improvement contributing insight and support while escalating strategic issues to Investment Directors and Programme/Impact leads.
- Working with Impact teams at portfolio partners to develop and refine impact management practices; including data collection, dashboard development, performance review meetings, programme design and evaluation.
- Supporting portfolio partners functional leads (e.g. Director of Impact) to develop as leaders by contributing insights and tools to help drive and strengthen impact-led approaches within their organisations.
- Coordinating pro- bono projects leveraging our large network of corporate volunteers to provide targeted support for our portfolio partners in key areas (e.g. strategy, marketing advice, financial analysis).
- Supporting Investment Directors with the design and delivery of theory of change workshops, conducting preparatory analysis of charity impact data developing and analysing pre-workshop surveys and co-facilitating workshops.
- Supporting the coordination and delivery of Impetus’ quarterly peer learning forums for our portfolio partners, in particular the Impact Forum.
- Supporting investment governance by preparing clear and accurate reports for Investment and Steering Committees.
Support to Impetus
- Developing knowledge and expertise in Education and Youth Employment domains, staying up to date on relevant sector developments and applying this insight to support analysis and decision making.
- Working collaboratively on Impetus’ public affairs and philanthropy objectives by contributing evidence, insight and content to case studies, research, policy campaigns, donor reports and events.
- Sharing the learning from our work across the team and organisation and supporting communication of insights externally where appropriate.

In this role, you will support the development of high-quality, compelling communication materials that connect donors and partners with our impact for children. You will help devise and implement engagement products for donors and prospective partners, and lead storytelling and communications projects such as End of Year Communications for donors and the Unrestricted Funding Communications Pack.

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for somebody passionate about MAP’s work with a keen eye for detail, looking to enhance their data processing skills, to play a key role in maintaining MAP’s Dynamics 365 CRM system through a period of significant development. Key Responsibilities
The Supporter Database Officer is responsible for supporting the effective operation of MAP’s Dynamics 365 CRM system, with a particular focus on data imports, income processing and data quality. The role involves carrying out regular and complex data imports from payment providers, response handling agencies and internal teams, ensuring secure data handling and adherence to established processes. The postholder supports ongoing improvements to import procedures and contributes to maintaining clear documentation.
A significant part of the role involves supporting accurate and timely income processing. Working closely with the Finance team, the postholder applies correct coding to income, assists with daily and monthly reconciliation processes, investigates discrepancies across systems and helps maintain appropriate audit trails and financial controls.
The role also supports CRM development and system enhancements by working with colleagues across Fundraising to understand requirements and assisting with testing new functionality or third-party integrations. About You
You will have experience working with CRM systems or large datasets and an understanding of data import processes. You will possess strong Excel skills and be willing to develop your technical knowledge further, including SQL. Experience supporting income processing and financial reconciliation is desirable, alongside an understanding of CRM system design principles.
You will demonstrate excellent attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to investigate and resolve data discrepancies. You will be organised, adaptable and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, with strong communication and teamwork skills.
An awareness of GDPR, fundraising regulations and financial controls is essential. Experience within a charity CRM environment, supporting fundraising communications or working with supporter data, as well as familiarity with SQL or data visualisation tools such as Power BI, would be advantageous.

The Head of Development is a new role joining the organisation's leadership and focusing on leading and developing the organisation's future income-generation strategy. With some current funding support, this role will build relationships to secure income and build the future income pipeline with donors, including corporate partners, local authorities, individuals, grants, and other avenues. Overseeing a small team, this role will ensure there is a consistent pipeline of fundable propositions aligned with Forest Creation and Forest Action.
To be successful as the Head of Development, you will be an experienced fundraiser who has developed and delivered an income generation strategy and achieved income growth across multiple income streams, including grants and high-value. You will also be an experienced team leader and ideally have a passion or knowledge of the nature, forestry, farming, or environmental sectors.

About the Role
We are looking for a Head of Proposition Development to join us on a six month fixed term contract, to lead the creation of compelling, strategic fundraising propositions that will help Sense secure significant funding across multiple income streams. This is a full time, hybrid role working 2-3 days on site at our offices in Kings Cross, London.
Working across a large and complex organisation, you will collaborate with fundraisers, programme leads and senior stakeholders to develop clear and powerful narratives about our work. You will translate our strategy into fundable opportunities and persuasive cases for support, ensuring our fundraisers have the tools they need to secure transformational funding.
You will also establish strong impact tracking and reporting frameworks, enabling us to demonstrate the difference our supporters make and strengthen long-term relationships.
This role offers the opportunity to work across the organisation, bringing together strategy, storytelling, data and impact to help grow sustainable income.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop compelling cross-organisational fundraising propositions aligned with Sense’s strategic priorities.
- Translate complex programmes and budgets into clear, persuasive cases for support.
- Work closely with fundraisers and programme teams to identify fundable projects and opportunities.
- Create toolkits, collateral and resources to support high-quality fundraising proposals and pitches.
- Develop frameworks for impact reporting and stewardship, ensuring we clearly demonstrate the difference supporters make.
- Lead cross-functional projects and collaborate with teams across the organisation.
- Track and analyse proposition performance to optimise fundraising outcomes.
- Develop engaging storytelling and supporter-facing content that resonates with a range of audiences, from individual donors to major funders.
- Ensure compliance with fundraising regulations and organisational policies.
About You
We’re looking for a creative and strategic communicator who can turn complex programmes into powerful and persuasive fundraising propositions.
You’ll be highly organised, collaborative and comfortable working across multiple teams to bring ideas to life.
You will bring:
- A proven track record of developing transformational fundraising propositions, ideally within philanthropy, major gifts, trusts & foundations or corporate partnerships.
- Exceptional writing, editing and presentation skills.
- Strong storytelling ability combined with analytical thinking.
- Experience translating complex programmes and budgets into clear, fundable propositions.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience developing impact reporting frameworks and stewardship materials.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence across teams.
- Experience with CRM systems (ideally MS Dynamics) and strong data analysis skills would be advantageous.
