Job description

Our websites receive more than 1.1m unique visits every year and play a key role in helping us to stand together, speak up and push for progress with and for the brain tumour community.

The Senior website content officer is responsible for making sure our small portfolio of websites are accurate, up to date and easy to use.

With the support of other marketing colleagues, you’ll be responsible for producing and overseeing the production of a mix of content – from copy to images and video – ensuring it’s SEO optimised, accessible to all users and consistent with our visual and verbal brand.

· You’ll conduct content audits to identify gaps and redundancies.

· You’ll assess user journeys and website structure – making recommendations for optimisation.

· You’ll plan content schedules that align with organisational comms planning processes.

· You’ll train people in the use of Wordpress and in writing for web.

· And you’ll work with the Website manager and Marketing Insights officer to produce reports on performance.

Who we’re looking for:

You’ll bring a great mix of creative flair, technical ability and organisation – as well as a passion for working collaboratively with people.

You’ll have excellent writing, editing and proofing skills and be able to adapt to our house style.

You’ll have a strong understanding of SEO, content optimisation and analytical skills and you’ll be comfortable operating on content management systems (we currently use Wordpress).

You’ll be highly organised, with the ability to work on multiple projects with different teams at any one time. You’re a self-starter who can work autonomously, identifying needs and using initiative to get things done.

And you’ll be a natural collaborator who can work with colleagues at all levels from across the organisation because you understand that just as it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a whole team to grow and maintain a website.

Key accountabilities:

· Responsible for the oversight of the content and structure of our small portfolio of websites, including our ecommerce microsite

· Work with the Website manager to continually assess and optimise the structure of the website and subsequent user journeys based on analytics and insights

· Work with colleagues from across the organisation to produce and oversee the production of high-quality written digital content.

· Conduct content audits to produce reports that identity gaps and redundancies and plans for continual development of web content based on these reports

· Develop and oversee quality assurance processes including approval of new and edited content

· Work closely with the brand and copywriting colleagues to ensure our verbal brand is applied to all written content and is optimised for web

· Be the in-house CMS (Wordpress) expert

· Optimise content to improve search engine rankings and build website authority and trust

· Work with the Marketing Insights Manager to provide regular reporting against SEO and website performance, tracking improvement and feeding into our test and learn strategy

· Maintaining the website, ensuring all information is current and links are working

· Develop and deliver training on WordPress

· Support the copywriting team to develop and deliver tone of voice training to ensure it covers optimising copy for web
