Background

UKHarvest is a food waste and food education charity supporting vulnerable people experiencing food insecurity in the community, though a number of impactful and groundbreaking projects. Our mission is to reduce food waste and increase food security. Our education programmes (NOURISHed), Community Food Hubs, Grub Clubs and Community Grub Clubs are designed to overcome social barriers and food insecurity by connecting people through food.

We operate two community food hubs that deliver hot meals and community food education and engagement; Nourish Hub in London and Nourish Hub Cafe in Bognor Regis. Both spaces fulfil our mission to create warm, welcoming community spaces where people can regain their independence and confidence through the medium of food. Our projects are supported by our food rescue operation that collects quality surplus food and redistributes it through projects in the community.

Purpose of the Role

The Charity founder and CEO is retiring from her post and in this period, UKHarvest requires an interim Chief Operating Officer. This COO will provide strong, calm and effective operational leadership during a period of transition, ensuring continuity, stability and confidence across the organisation.

This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role focusing on day-to-day operational delivery, financial discipline, staff reassurance whilst maintaining confidence among funders, partners and stakeholders, while ensuring UKHarvest continues to deliver impact against its strategy.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operational Leadership & Continuity

• Lead the organisation’s day-to-day operations, ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with our agreed strategy.
• Maintain operational focus and performance during a period of leadership change.
• Ensure effective coordination across all functions, projects and locations.
• Act as a visible, accessible and reassuring leader for staff and volunteers.

2. Financial Discipline & Organisational Sustainability

• Take responsibility for robust financial management, budgeting and cashflow oversight.
• Work closely with the finance function and Board to ensure strong financial controls, reporting and compliance.
• Ensure resources are deployed efficiently and in line with charitable objectives.
• Support funder confidence through clear financial governance, delivery assurance and transparency.

3. People Leadership, Staff Reassurance & Culture

• Provide clear, confident and empathetic leadership to staff and volunteers.
• Maintain morale, clarity and stability across teams during the interim period.
• Ensure appropriate structures, line management and accountability are in place.
• Foster a values-led, inclusive and supportive organisational culture.

4. Functional Oversight & Line Management

• Hold overall responsibility for core operational and enabling functions, including:
  • Operations, logistics and programmes
  • Education
  • Finance and administration
  • People and volunteer management
  • Marketing, communications engagement and PR
• Provide clear direction and support to functional leads and teams, recognising direct accountability for these areas.
• Ensure external communications, reputation management, media engagement and events activity are well managed, coordinated and aligned with organisational priorities.

5. External Relationships & Stakeholder Confidence

• Act as a senior operational point of contact for funders, partners and key stakeholders.
• Support confidence among funders and partners through consistent delivery and professional operational management.
• Represent UKHarvest at appropriate external meetings, events and forums.

6. Governance & Board Support

• Work closely with the Chair and Board, providing timely, accurate and relevant operational information.
• Support effective governance through clear reporting, risk management and delivery against agreed priorities.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, safeguarding and health & safety requirements.

Essential Experience & Skills

• Proven senior operational leadership experience, ideally at COO, Director or equivalent level. (10 years)
• Experience within the charity, not-for-profit, food, logistics or community sector or demonstrably transferable commercial experience.
• Strong experience of financial management, budgeting and operational controls.
• Demonstrated ability to lead generously and reassure teams during periods of change.
• Excellent communication skills, judgement and emotional intelligence.
• A belief in social justice, environmental sustainability and reduction of food waste. 
• Comfortable operating in a hands-on, delivery-focused interim role.

Desirable Experience

• Experience overseeing marketing, communications, media relations and events management.
• Experience working with a diverse range of functions, funders, partners and volunteers.
• Previous interim leadership

Youth Arts & Health Trust are a registered charity based in Exeter and East Devon who specialise in providing creative therapies and inclusivity-informed arts activities for children and young people aged 5 to 25.

We are in an exciting phase of our development, with new premises in Exeter, growing activities in East Devon, a dynamic team, a supportive and experienced Board of Trustees, and much shared passion to make a difference to children, young people and families.

We provide our services for children and young people via local authorities, organisations, schools and for families directly.

We are looking for someone with vision and passion who can lead and nurture our highly capable and ambitious team to build further upon our compassionate, inclusive and trauma-informed services for children, young people and families.

This is a 0.7 - 0.8 post (25-30 hours per week) with terms to be agreed with the successful candidate.  We are open to flexible working arrangements with the right individual, whether that’s flexitime or compressed hours, or some other agreed arrangement.   

It is expected that the post-holder will work within our premises for 1-2 days a week depending on service needs, and the remainder of hours worked from home, in the community at meetings or events or working on a hybrid basis.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

• To develop and deliver our strategy including a business plan and regular progression reports for the Board to ensure the charity is financially robust.
• To develop existing and new income streams to secure the future of the charity and enable us to meet our charitable objectives of benefitting children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties through arts therapies and arts activities.  This is likely to include grant fundraising, exploring procurement and commissioning routes, philanthropy, appropriate business sponsorship, training delivery and pathways for private purchasing of our service.
• To line manage, support, and collaborate with our Operations and Clinical Director who oversees our team of therapists and practitioners in ensuring all staff are adequately trained, registered, supervised and supported to provide an excellent service to our clients.
• To provide leadership for the charity both internally in regards to a positive and nurturing culture and externally in regard to reputation, partnerships and opportunities.
• To ensure all relevant policies are implemented effectively, developed and reviewed as required.
• To act as one of three Designated Safeguarding Officers and ensure policy is implemented effectively.
• To ensure the charity fulfils all its statutory obligations, working alongside the Board to achieve this.
• To ensure the charity has appropriate systems in place for the management and mitigation of risk.
• To ensure the charity meets its obligations under health and safety law.
• To lead on the development of innovative arts therapy programmes, in collaboration with our Operations and Clinical Director, our staff team and stakeholders.
• To ensure evaluation and impact data is collected and utilised for our learning and to provide evidence for the effectiveness of YAHT’s services.
• To act as an ambassador for the charity.
• If relevant, to carry a small caseload of children and young people to remain practising as an Arts Therapist or other registered mental health professional (if relevant, see desirable criteria).

To enable Operation Smile’s global surgical activities, OSUK’s Partnerships Team works to maximise high-potential income channels such as corporate partnerships, major donors, community fundraisers and trusts and foundations.

We have created an exciting new position in our team for an ambitious and confident relationship fundraiser. Working as part of the Partnership Team, the Philanthropy Manager position will secure critical income from new and existing major donors through compelling, donor-centred approaches and excellent stewardship.

The position will build on existing relationships with individuals who make significant personal donations, aiming to grow their contributions, as well as making approaches to new prospects, working closely with the Director of Partnerships.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Philanthropy Development

• Ensure achievement of annual income target for philanthropy
• Develop and implement plans for a structured philanthropy programme, for both new and existing donors, aligning their giving with our strategic priorities
• Take primary responsibility for managing the current small pool of major donors, to grow and sustain their giving – strategic development of each relationship will be essential
• Develop and maintain a pipeline of new major donor prospects, creating propositions/proposals and making approaches, working with the Director of Partnerships
• Seek peer-to-peer introductions to new prospects, from existing donors, board members and other contacts
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting to donors and internal stakeholders
• Work with the Communications team to generate media presence and content to attract philanthropic interest from new prospects
• Represent Operation Smile UK in global philanthropy discussions, applying any global strategies to develop successful fundraising plans for the UK
• Lead on development and management of any philanthropy cultivation events

Additional Responsibilities

• Create and maintain annual philanthropy budget and business plan, including activities from current supporters and forecasting new business income

• 2 years’ experience in a philanthropy or business development role
• We promote flexible and hybrid working, with 2 days per week in our London office in Battersea (nearest stations Clapham Junction and Wandsworth Town). There will also be some UK travel for meetings, conferences and events.

Our Senior Trusts & Foundations Manager is primarily responsible for managing and generating income from our Trusts & Foundations portfolio (including Corporate Foundations). They identify new prospects, write compelling and persuasive proposals to secure significant gifts, actively develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and provide brilliant stewardship.

We are looking for someone who has a sound understanding of T&F fundraising. You’ll have a strong track record of nurturing relationships, securing multi-year and five-figure+ gifts, and a genuine passion for youth development. You are a creative problem solver with the ability to work independently and take ownership of projects – ensuring they run smoothly and effectively.

About the role:
As the Bid Officer, you will support statutory and non-statutory funding across Advance’s services, with oversight by the Development Manager and support from the Development and Fundraising Co-ordinator. They will also provide assistance to the Head of Fundraising. You will plan and produce compliant proposal documents, bringing together expertise, best practice, research and data to develop compelling tender responses. Your role will be responsible for shaping service delivery models in collaboration with internal subject matter experts, bid writing and editing, coordinating the final document review and document governance. 

Please note: In this role we are always exploring new technology and tools to support better ways of working, however the sector we work in means that we are often required to submit bids that are written without AI involvement. We need someone with great writing skills in this role and will be testing this with an in-person assessment as part of our recruitment process.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Plan and write compliant, professionally produced proposals within defined timeframes and coordinate supplementary documents required

• Foster collaboration and coordinate proposal input from a variety of stakeholders including Services, Evidence and Insights, People team, Finance and Governance team, Safeguarding

• Undertake editing of proposals, including spelling and grammar checks, and share with internal stakeholders for final approval in advance

• Follow team processes for filing and version control

• Work alongside external partners to inform competitive bid submissions

• Support preparation for tender handover following contract award with Implementation Manager

• Monitor statutory and non-statutory funding opportunities (local authority, central government, trusts) via portals and support existing services to prepare for retender

• Brief leadership on go/no go decisions

• Conduct post-proposal reviews and support continuous improvement of the department

About You:

To be successful as the Bid Officer you’ll need the below experience and skills:

• Experience of writing successful tenders, proposals or grant submissions, with excellent written and verbal skills that support coordination of clear, compelling and concise bid responses

• Excellent attention-to-detail and accuracy with strong editing and proof-reading skills

• A pro-active approach to developing strong working relationships with staff at all levels of the organisation and with external stakeholders

• Be highly organised and solutions-focused, able to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines under pressure

Our Charity client is made up of an astounding group of professionals who believe that people's sight matters. They have ambitious growth plans to increase the investment they are able to make in life-changing eye health by supporting the work of Moorfields Eye Hospital and its academic partner UCL, and by funding innovative research, equipment, patient care and training through the delivery of innovative fundraising programmes. The team is looking to appoint a Philanthropy officer, and Prospectus is leading the search. 

Philanthropy officer

Full time, 37.5 hours per week

£37,596 to £43,863 per annum 

The Philanthropy officer will manage a mixed portfolio of individual, trust and foundation and corporate prospects capable of making significant gifts at the five-figure level to secure philanthropic support towards priority projects (the existing portfolio is largely trust-focused, however the role will support the growth of corporate and individual prospects giving at this level). This role will support the team in achieving its exciting growth ambitions and in supporting the charity's wider plans to embed a culture of philanthropy across the partnership.

The successful candidate will bring experience of fundraising and securing major gifts at five-figure levels (from individuals, corporates and/or trusts and foundations). As such, you will need to have experience working within a charity or membership organisation. As the new Philanthropy officer, you will be self-motivated, pro-active and solutions focused, and have an ability to work on your own initiative, as well as being part of the charity's busy, friendly team.

Senior Legacy Development Officer

Location: London office with flexibility to work remotely
Salary: £33,044 per year, rising to £35,109 after 6 months and £37,174 after a further 6 months, plus excellent benefits

Are you ready to inspire people to make a lasting impact? We’re looking for a Senior Legacy Development Officer to help shape and deliver creative campaigns that encourage gifts in wills and secure vital future income for our work.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team that generates a significant proportion of our income. You’ll play a key role in planning and delivering legacy marketing campaigns across multiple channels, working closely with colleagues and external partners to engage supporters and grow pledges.

What you’ll do

• Lead on planning and delivering gifts in wills campaigns, including advertising, email and direct marketing, and engagement activities.
• Create project plans and briefs, ensuring all communications are on brand, accessible and values-driven.
• Monitor and evaluate campaign performance, using data insights to improve strategy and results.
• Manage relationships with suppliers and agencies, including free will service providers and fundraising organisations.
• Respond sensitively and efficiently to legacy enquiries from supporters and the public.
• Ensure compliance with fundraising regulations, GDPR and charity law.

What we’re looking for

• Confidence and ability to learn quickly, with experience in marketing campaigns (direct and email marketing essential).
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and budgets.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence to speak sensitively about gifts in wills.
• Ability to analyse data and report on campaign performance.
• Knowledge of fundraising codes, GDPR and safeguarding principles.
• Comfortable using technology and digital tools to deliver campaigns.
• Event management experience is desirable but not essential – training can be provided.
