The Role

The Head of Finance is responsible for the financial systems and accounting of Quartet to ensure the sound financial management of the organisation. They also oversee the effective delivery of many of Quartet’s administrative operations to enable the smooth running of the charity.

Responsible to: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The postholder will be working closely with staff throughout Quartet, the Board of Trustees and the Finance and Investment Committee.

About you

To succeed in this role you will:

• Be a qualified accountant or QBE with substantial financial and management accounting experience.
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrable experience of leading and engaging with finance and other corporate functions to develop a mature and rounded service.
• Have an excellent understanding of financial and management accounting processes, financial reporting and audit planning as well as being adept at managing both your own and your team’s priorities.
• Leading on communication with Investment Managers, analysing their quarterly performance and advising the CEO, Finance and Investment Committee and Board on risks and returns.
• Working with the CEO, Leadership team and trustees, you will be a strong leader able to communicate well with your peers and teams members and have resilience to adapt quickly to changing priorities and demands from internal and external stakeholders.

Our partner, a collaborative platform supporting a network of conservation-focused organisations across Africa, is seeking an experienced finance trainer to design and deliver a high-impact training session for CEOs at an annual partner convention in Southern Africa.

The organisation works with multiple locally-led partners, providing sub-grants alongside tailored capacity strengthening across governance, leadership, finance and operations. As many of the organisations are founder-led, this training will focus on equipping CEOs with the financial knowledge and confidence required to effectively lead and oversee their organisations.

The successful candidate will design and deliver an engaging, practical finance session (c. 3 hours) as part of a wider one-day CEO training programme, tailored to the needs and experience levels of participants.

Responsibilities

Design and deliver an engaging, practical finance training session for non-finance CEOs, tailored to conservation NGOs operating in Africa. The topics they have suggested they would like to cover include:

• Understanding basic financial statements and what they mean for organizational health
• Budgeting and how to effectively review and monitor budgets
• How to manage and engage with a CFO or finance manager without having a technical accounting background
• Key questions CEOs should be asking their finance teams
• Identifying red flags and early warning signs of financial mismanagement
• Practical approaches to fraud prevention and detection, including essential internal controls
• Financial governance and the role of the CEO in ensuring accountability
• Donor compliance and managing restricted funds
• Cash flow management and financial sustainability
• Using financial information to support strategic decision-making

Requirements

• Proven experience designing and delivering finance training for non-finance audiences, ideally at a senior leadership level
• Strong understanding of financial management in NGOs, including donor compliance, restricted funding and financial governance
• Familiarity with the operating context of conservation NGOs in Africa and the associated funding landscape
• Ability to translate technical financial concepts into clear, practical and engaging content
• Strong facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse and senior audiences.

Working arrangements

• The training will take place in Namibia in July 2026.

Duties will include but not be limited to: 

Business Development

• Work with the Head of Fundraising to develop strategies which increase Ygam’s visibility in the corporate space.

• Conduct prospective supporter research; establish and grow the partnerships pipeline, and develop pitches to meet shared objectives, working with the Head of Fundraising. 

• Build strong relationships with organisations that share our values.

• Manage the prospect pipeline using Salesforce, segmenting the pipeline into areas of programme interest and tracking applications, expected and actual income and reporting deadlines. 

Relationship Building: 

• Craft engagement plans to deepen existing relationships and maximise fundraising opportunities 

• Provide excellent account management for new and established partners, including regular and meaningful communication.

• Produce relevant, creative, and compelling proposals, reports and updates to keep our corporate partners motivated and engaged. 

• Identify and execute creative ways to bring our work to life for funders.

• Ensure that relationships with donors (both new and existing) are maintained and managed effectively before, during, and after receipt of funds. 

• Effectively communicate Ygam’s vision, mission, and programmes to potential donors. Delivering and shaping engaging and emotive copy for appeal letters, emails, newsletters, and other promotional materials. 

• Contributing to wider Fundraising Department objectives, sharing innovative ideas, supporting all income streams, and promoting a culture of positive team-working. 

• Working closely with the External Affairs team to ensuring effective use of case studies, photography, statistics, and organisational information and that all communications are consistent and in line with Ygam brand guidelines.

About The Role

We are seeking a new Chief Executive to join us at an ideal time to complete and implement our emerging new strategy and direct Surrey Community Action into a bright future.

As Chief Executive Officer, you will have the scope and authority to shape strategy, influence policy, empower Surrey’s voluntary sector, and champion rural communities, working closely with a committed Board, and experienced staff team.

You will be the organisation’s lead ambassador, building trusted relationships with partners, funders and decision‑makers, and ensuring the organisation’s voice is heard at local, regional and national level.

You will also play a critical role in leading change and transformation within the charity - strengthening systems, diversifying income and evolving how the organisation works so it remains resilient, relevant and impactful in a fast‑changing environment.

This is a role for someone who enjoys balancing big‑picture thinking with practical delivery, and who can bring people with them through periods of transition.

About You

The purpose of the Chief Executive Officer’s role is to guide and plan the strategic development and overall direction of the organisation, providing strong leadership and co-ordination to ensure the aims, strategic objectives and priorities of the organisation are achieved.

To do this, we need someone who embodies the following attributes, skills and experience.

You will have:

• Senior leadership experience within a voluntary, community, public or values‑led organisation, with accountability for strategy, performance and resources.
• Proven experience of working effectively with a Board or trustees
• Demonstrable success in leading and managing organisational change, including restructuring, service development or cultural transformation.
• Experience in fundraising, income generation and business development
• Experience of financial leadership, including budgeting, financial planning, income generation and managing funding agreements or contracts.
• A strong track record of external engagement, partnership working and representation at senior level.
• People management experience, supporting a compact team delivering diverse projects.
• Excellent communication skills (including social media) and governance literacy.
• It will be a distinct advantage to have familiarity with Local Government Reorganisation and devolution, ideally in a county like Surrey.

The Nuts and Bolts

The role is a permanent contract for 35 hours per week, mostly office based but with some scope for working remotely.

The salary for this post is £62,000 for a 35-hour week.

Job Purpose

The Head of Community Support and Operations is a pivotal new role being introduced to the executive team at Barnsley CVS.  This person will be a key role in the growth and development of the executive team.  You will play an exciting part in the delivery and development of the recently developed 4-year strategy and theory of change. Your role will drive intention and focus on developing our support to the sector in a meaningful way to high standards, whilst ensuring our own internal operations reflect best practice.  You will need a strong knowledge of charity set up, management and governance along with a passion for what the VCSE sector does.  You will be confident in people management and development; have the ability to work inclusively with a wide range of people and backgrounds and the skill to see gaps and opportunities for service development.

You will work closely with the Head of Strategic Partnerships to identify gaps and opportunities to develop our offer of support to the sector whether through direct services, training, brokerage agreements or membership offers.  As you identify these opportunities, you will work collaboratively with the Head of Business Development to explore commercial income options that are also in line with our mission and vision.

Using your excellent people skills, you will act as the first point of contact for HR matters within the charity, overseeing the general management of our online HR system, policies and procedures.  You will work in collaboration with the CEO in any areas that need significant development or management.

You will keep up to date with new initiatives and ideas in the wider infrastructure sector, relevant legislation and modern thinking in relation to charity management best practice.

• To develop, coordinate and support delivery and administration of an education support group (online or in person) to the care experience community youth and family.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work closely with education advisor lead in delivering education support service to families and professionals.

• Manage own caseloads, monitor and review progress at regular education meetings using established tools. Ensure tracking and recording on AUK system database and Sharepoint.

• Develop, promote and deliver Education training for professionals across Scotland. Including supporting the development and delivery of Education elements of training in other AUK teams and development of commissioned projects e.g. care experience week lessons, resources and training for Education Scotland

• Responsible for administrative tasks relating to service delivery

• Respond appropriately to enquiries via email, telephone or in person, referring on to other services and ensure accurate and appropriate recording and tracking of all enquires are maintained using appropriate database systems.

• Support manager in monitoring and reporting of service delivery

• Contribute and assist in the development, design and planning of promotional resources and information materials and factsheets.

‘Generous Giving’ is a small but vibrant and established team that is part of the wider diocesan Mission and Ministry Team, under the leadership of the Director of Mission and Ministry. The focus of Generous Giving is to work with parish leadership
teams (both lay and ordained) across the diocese to develop and promote a clear vision for Christian giving by building on and encouraging a culture of generosity and enabling giving through a variety of mechanisms. This includes helping parishes to createan annual giving strategy that supports their local vision, as well as the diocesan vision and sustainability

The Generous Giving Adviser will work proactively across the whole diocese to encourage the uptake of proven resources that support local parish funding initiatives including; regular giving, digital and online giving, legacy funding, grant application strategies and the use of financially efficient schemes such as Parish Buying. The Generous Giving Adviser will also promote, nurture and teach on Biblical generosity using existing discipleship resources.

This post is funded by the Archbishop’s Council via the Church of England’s National Giving Strategy.
