Legacy giving plays a vital role in ensuring lasting change for people living with sight loss. The Legacy Giving Manager will help deepen supporters’ connection to our mission to Save Sight. Change Lives.

Reporting to the Head of Supporter Development, you will lead the development and delivery of the legacy and in-memory giving strategy, delivering thoughtful, inspiring campaigns that celebrate the impact of legacy and in-memory giving. You’ll combine creative storytelling with data-driven insight to nurture meaningful supporter journeys, ensuring everyone who chooses to remember the charity in their will or in tribute to a loved one feels valued, respected, and part of something truly transformative.

Role Responsibilities

Strategy Development

• Develop and deliver an ambitious legacy and in-memory giving strategy and operational plan, driving sustainable income growth and achieving KPIs.
• Develop and implement associated objectives, workplans and KPIs to track progress.
• Work closely with stakeholders, to curate and implement compelling legacy marketing plans to promote awareness of gifts in wills and recruit new pledgers.

Management of Legacy Programme

• Responsible for ensuring legacy programme meets annual targets, with appropriate stretch targets in place.
• Work collaboratively across all Income streams, Communications and Impact to drive growth in the identification and cultivation of new legacy pledgers.
• Organise legacy events to support cultivation and stewardship of legacy givers.
• Work with Retail to embed legacy messaging in our charity shops and use in‑store activity to grow awareness and legacy leads.
• Provide exceptional stewardship of legacy pledgers individually and collectively, through the development and implementation of a legacy stewardship programme.
• Sensitively and expertly co-ordinate with the legacy administration function (which is outsourced), including regular communication with our professional legacy advisor, exploring and initiating stewardship and impact reporting activities.
• Collaborate on and personally take steps to maximise existing initiatives such as Gifts in Will month and identify new opportunities to market legacies and grow pledgers.
• Lead on developing and leading initiatives to improve awareness of legacies amongst charity staff, volunteers, charity shop customers and the Board.
• Collaborate with the Individual Giving Managers to identify and maximise legacy marketing opportunities through existing and new activities. 
• Take personal and collective responsibility for ensuring legacy fundraising is conducted in a legal and ethical manner in line with Charity Commission guidance, and other regulators as appropriate.
•  Advise and effectively manage legacy income targets and expenditure budgets, including reforecasting and target setting.
• Identify and develop strategic opportunities across fundraising, championing new initiatives and ways of working as necessary.

Person specification

ESSENTIAL

• Proven experience and knowledge of legacy giving, including channels for direct marketing to drive legacy giving.
• Experience of developing and producing legacy marketing and stewardship materials.
• Knowledge of key trends affecting legacy fundraising and able to apply insights to own work.
• Experience of using a fundraising database/CRM for effective analysis of legacy marketing campaigns and trend giving patterns.
• Strong understanding of donor stewardship and the motivations behind legacy giving.
• Strong organisational planning and project management skills.
• Proven skills and aptitudes to complete complicated procedures.
• Demonstrable analytical skills and highly numerate with experience of keeping and monitoring financial & budgeting reports.

About the Position…

Our Senior Residential Manager and Responsible Individual supports the Head of Service in the delivery of the Trusts residential services for cared for children. You will oversee several services that provide support to vulnerable young people, working across a range of differing needs.

• Line-manage and support children’s residential registered managers to ensure high‑quality person‑centred care across all services.
• Ensure all registered children’s homes comply with standards, regulations, policies, and procedures, with effective systems supporting staff in delivering care.
• Act as the Responsible Individual for designated children’s homes or services.
• Lead quality‑assurance processes to maintain good or outstanding practice and clearly evidence outcomes for children.
• Ensure registered managers promote and safeguard the welfare and well‑being of children in residential care.

• Level 5 Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare of equivalent 
• Significant Children’s Residential experience as a Registered Manager or suitable equivalent, experienced in promoting high quality children’s residential services.
• Strong knowledge of childcare legislation and OFSTED inspection requirements.
• Extensive experience leading high-quality residential services for young people with complex social or health needs, understanding care planning, transitions, and leaving care.

Legacies form a key source of income for the British Heart Foundation (BHF), raising approximately £100m a year for our life‑saving research.

As a Legacy Manager, you will manage, protect, and optimise this income. You'll work alongside three other Legacy Managers, supporting the Head of Legacy Management to build on the team’s successes and to optimise the BHF’s income from gifts in Wills. 

​

Joining a thriving team, you’ll undertake a variety of work, including managing casework in accordance with the law, best practice, and BHF’s processes and procedures, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, providing technical guidance to colleagues and potential legacy givers, and line managing two Assistant Legacy Officers and our Legacy Administrator. 

 This role may also require deputising for the Head of Legacy Management. 

About you

You'll either have extensive experience in legacy management within the charities legacy sector; or be a Qualified Private Client Solicitor; or be a Qualified member of the Society of Trust and Estates Practitioners; or be a Qualified Chartered Legal Executive with experience of Wills and Probate.

With high levels of empathy and belief in the BHF’s work, you'll be able to develop strong relationships with colleagues and contacts.  Working arrangements

The purpose of this role is to deliver FSSW’s FareChance programme, including employability learning and practical logistics sessions alongside support and collaboration with the Employability Programme Facilitator. FareChance provides a unique combination of two parts: the first is working alongside other volunteers and staff learning key warehouse and logistics skills, getting firsthand practical experience; the second is tailored employability sessions in small groups with 1-1 specialist support. 

The Employability Programme Lead will lead on running the employability workshops. This role will provide 1-1 support for young people where required and provide signposting and referrals to other specialist services. The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting people to thrive and be sensitive to the inequality and power imbalance faced by young people today. They will have experience of supporting young people to achieve their goals and can bring these skills to deliver FareChance. This role will coach as well as co-ordinate the programme whilst supporting the growth of an innovative, supportive, and caring employability pathway for people to overcome barriers and move closer to the future they deserve. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Programme Delivery 

• Support the Employability Programme Facilitator to deliver practical warehouse activity sessions 

• Working with the Operations team to ensure smooth integration of our participants and the programme into every aspect of the operation. 

• Lead in providing tailored programme coaching/mentoring: 

• Set up and monitor an action plan for each participant with realistic goals to overcome barriers they face. 

• Provide advice and guidance, build confidence and support participants with appropriate resources for their next steps (including CV writing and interview skills)

• Identify project management opportunities and build plans with relevant staff in the wider team. 

• Lead on developing and preparing programme resources. 

• Identify specific needs and risks, liaising with senior colleagues, create and maintain risk assessments with individuals to ensure safety in the workplace.

Programme Development 

• Lead on the recruitment, onboarding and offboarding of participants (currently 18–25-year-olds with possibility of expanding this range) onto the FareChance Programme. 

• Work with the Volunteer Team to ensure smooth transitions to and from FareChance to Volunteering where applicable. 

• Build a Youth Steering/Co-production group to design, deliver and evaluate the programmes. 

• Alongside the Head of Employability and Volunteering, support the development of the strategy for future programmes. 

External partnerships and relationship building 

• Work with the Head of Employability and Volunteering to develop our network of statutory, charity and business partnerships to increase referral pathways into and out of the programme. 

• Support the fundraising team in providing updates for employability funders 

• On occasion, attend events or appointments to support recruitment/represent FSSW 

• Build a network of signposting for participants across the programme including local businesses and apprenticeship opportunities. 

• Work with the Head of Employability and Volunteering to develop partnerships to offer on-course enrichment opportunities, e.g., away days and mentoring. 

Reporting and Administration 

• Maintain quality records of all participant information, including interventions with project participants, ensuring that such data is stored within the requirements of the Data Protection Act and FSSW policies and procedures 

• Work alongside the Head of Employability and Volunteering around any incidents or safeguarding concerns. Signpost to external agencies where appropriate. 

• Work with the fundraising and communications teams on internal and external reporting for FareChance, including gathering quantitative and qualitative data 

• Deliver programme data and, in conjunction with the Head of Employability and Volunteering, analyse and feed into future programmes

Purpose of the role

As Education and Events Manager, your primary responsibility is to support the Head of Education and Events in driving and delivering the strategic objectives of the department. Delivery of educational programmes

We are a UK medical research charity dedicated to improving bone, joint and muscle health – collectively known as musculoskeletal (MSK) health - through research, education, and innovation. Our work aims to reduce the growing burden of MSK conditions on individuals, the NHS, and the wider economy.

We fund and support innovative research that improves patient outcomes and accelerates the development of new approaches to prevention, diagnosis, treatment and management, including partnerships with clinicians, researchers, and early-stage companies.

Our Education & Events department delivers programmes to strengthen MSK education and training while supporting innovation across the MSK community. This includes core training for MSK clinicians, thematic events to raise our profile, and enhanced learning experiences for MSK innovators.

Through our research, education, and partnerships, we aim to increase awareness, investment, and impact in MSK health where it is most needed.

Purpose of the role

As Education and Events Executive, your primary responsibility is to support the Head of Education and Events in the delivery of the department’s objectives. You will contribute to the planning, coordination and delivery of an educational programme of events and resources that support the professional training and continuing professional development (CPD) needs of healthcare professionals working within the musculoskeletal (MSK) field.

This role reports directly to the Head of Education and Events and involves working closely with colleagues and stakeholders to support the smooth delivery of education and events activity.

Key responsibilities 

Delivery of educational programmes

• Support the delivery of a high-quality programme of educational events and courses, working under the direction of the Head of Education and Events and assisting with activities across the event lifecycle, from planning through to evaluation
• Assist with identifying opportunities to develop the events portfolio in line with departmental objectives
• Support the development and maintenance of working relationships with industry partners and stakeholders, assisting with communications and partnership activity as required
• Assist with event budgets, including tracking income and expenditure, processing invoices, and supporting financial reporting
• Support the marketing of events, including helping to prepare and share promotional materials across appropriate channels
• Act as a point of contact for course convenors, faculty and delegates, supporting event-related communications, including responding to enquiries and assisting with travel and accommodation arrangements
• Assist with the coordination of event logistics, including venue bookings, catering, and supporting in-person and virtual delivery using platforms such as Zoom
• Support the recording of virtual events and assist with basic post-production tasks, such as trimming and formatting recordings for distribution
• Provide on-site and virtual support at events to help ensure smooth delivery and a positive delegate experience
• Support post-event processes, including distributing recordings and presentation materials, issuing certificates, and contributing to post-event reports and evaluations
• Assist with CPD accreditation applications where appropriate, supporting compliance with relevant professional standards

Person specification:

Education and qualifications

• University degree, relevant professional qualification or training, or equivalent experience, including demonstrated project management skills
• Willingness to develop project coordination and event delivery skills, with support and training

Experience and knowledge

• Some experience supporting the planning, coordination or delivery of events (in-person and/or virtual)
• Experience assisting with event administration, logistics, or communications
• Experience working collaboratively with colleagues or external stakeholders
• Awareness of continuing professional development (CPD) or training environments, or a willingness to learn
• Basic understanding of project coordination principles, or experience working to plans, timelines and deadlines
• Experience handling data and information accurately, with an understanding of confidentiality and data protection
• Comfortable working with numbers, including tracking costs, invoices, or budgets with guidance
• Awareness of compliance requirements such as data protection and information governance

Skills and abilities

• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication for different audiences
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and confident using digital tools and social media in a professional context
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
