About us
Community Rail Network is a national not-for-profit organisation, which is in the process of applying for charitable status, supporting a growing ‘community rail’ movement, which helps communities get the most from their railways, promotes sustainable and inclusive travel, coordinates volunteering and place-making, and brings people together.
Community rail is made up of 77 community-based organisations, and around 1,300 station volunteer groups and other community-led initiatives around Britain. Their activities range from creative projects for young people, to advising train operators on service improvements, to building travel confidence among marginalised groups, to biodiversity projects at stations, to promoting greener tourism by rail.
Our enthusiastic team of 24 works from home in dispersed locations, but we come together regularly in person and online. We work collaboratively to support members, provide training, events and resources, run campaigns, and champion community rail and its insights. About this role, and your main responsibilities
Our current CEO is moving on after nine years in role, leaving the organisation, team and wider movement in a strong and empowered position to deliver on the next phase of our development.
Your opportunity is to lead the organisation, and to deliver on our new five-year strategy setting an ambitious course for the future during a period of major transformation for our railways and the wider transport system. You will ensure that we are:
- clear in our identity and our independence, and seen as thought leaders in our field;
- are supporting our members and stakeholders to meet their changing and diverse needs; and
- ensuring the financial and operational resilience of the organisation in an environment that is undergoing a period of rapid change.
As CEO, you will lead a passionate and experienced senior leadership team with three direct reports, while working closely with and reporting into our Board, key partners and funders, and ensuing an engaging, empowering, tenacious approach across all we do.
Advocacy of community rail and its benefits will be high on your agenda, and you will be working closely across multiple stakeholders including UK and devolved national governments, regional and local authorities as well as forging collaborative partnerships with like-minded organisations.
Maintaining our community-centric ethos, you will need to ensure we're effective in enabling members to unlock greater value from the railways at a grassroots level, while drawing on their insights to affect wider change. With hundreds of member groups and organisations across Britain delivering life-changing, place-enhancing work, you will have a solid foundation to build on, to take community rail forward and expand our impact in the years ahead.
Last, but not least, you will be responsible for ensuring the strong and effective governance of the organisation, modelling our governing principles, values and behaviours, and ensuring that we have robust financial and resource management in place.
Skills, competencies and qualities
- Exceptional leadership skills, including a proven ability to lead, develop and grow third sector organisations or multi-faceted teams delivering complex activities, projects and campaigns;
- Excellent communication and external leadership skills: articulate, assertive, with the ability to work diplomatically and persuasively with stakeholders at all levels;

Other information
The role will involve extensive travel within Britain as part of building your profile and that of the organisation with central and devolved government in Scotland and Wales, and increasingly with the devolved regions of England.
There is flexibility on location given the requirement to travel and that your office will be home-based. You will need to travel to in-person quarterly team meetings (usually in London or West Yorkshire) and to Board meetings which alternate between online and London. It is expected that travel will be by public transport and easy access to the rail network is therefore required to ensure journeys can be made sustainably.
This is a full-time position, 37 hours per week. We use a flexi-time system with core hours 10am-3pm, and are committed to being a flexible, supportive and understanding employer. This is a permanent position with a probationary period of six months.
Benefits: 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (rising up to 30 days, plus Bank Holidays, in line with long service); pension with employer contribution of 7%; and access to Employee Assistance Programme.

Main Purpose of the Role
This new role aims to support the design, coordination and delivery of Action Duchenne’s events portfolio, including the Annual Community Summit, regional meetups, workshops, and online events. The role will ensure smooth operational delivery, high‑ quality participant experiences, accessible information, and effective logistics‑ and supplier coordination.
This role contributes directly to our organisational impact by ensuring families, young people, professionals and partners have access to engaging, supportive and well managed events. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who enjoys a challenge, is incredibly organised with excellent project management skills, close attention to detail, creativity and a passion for supporting every DMD community.
Specific Tasks
1. Event Coordination and Logistics

Support the planning and delivery of the Annual Community Summit, working closely with the Chief Scientific Officer, Director of Fundraising and Communications, and wider team.

Coordinate logistics for in‑person and online events, including venue liaison, catering, accessibility arrangements, equipment, travel, accommodation and schedules.

Ensure event details are accurately published and updated across relevant platforms (website, CRM, communications channels).

Manage registration processes for all events and ensure attendees receive timely, accurate joining information.

Support the organisation of regional meet‑ups and workshops, ensuring venues, facilitators and resources are in place.
2. Administration and Operational Delivery

Maintain clear and accurate administrative systems, including event checklists, timelines, risk assessments and evaluation forms.

Track planned expenditure and ensure costs align with budgets, escalating issues where necessary.

About the team
The Philanthropy Team raises income for Impetus and for Impetus partner charities. The team consists of 15 staff. Impetus has an annual income of c.£11 million which we are looking to grow significantly within the next few years. The team is led by the Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships.
The Philanthropy Team works with major donors, corporates and grant making trusts, as well as collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to ensure we make a compelling case to generate new financial commitments and wider support for our work. The team also deliver a high-quality engagement programme of volunteering and pro bono for Impetus’s corporate supporters.

About this role
This role is a 12‑month maternity cover, supporting an important phase of delivery and development within the Philanthropy team. The postholder will work closely with colleagues to maintain momentum in new business activity while contributing to strategic account management and stewardship.
The Head of Development is a senior role within the Philanthropy Team, with a primary focus on new business development. This includes identifying, cultivating and securing new funding relationships across trusts, foundations, corporates, co‑investment partners and high‑net‑worth individuals.
Alongside new business delivery, the role also provides strategic account management for a small portfolio of high-value partners, ensuring smooth transitions from acquisition into long term stewardship.
This role works alongside the Head of Philanthropy, with both roles contributing to the success of the Philanthropy Team. The Head of Philanthropy leads on deep stewardship and retention, while the Head of Development focusses on new income generation and building relationships with new funders and partners.
The postholder will work closely with the Director of Philanthropy & Partnerships, Philanthropy Directors as well as Senior Research and Insights Manager, contributing specialist expertise, strong delivery and sound judgement, while operating within agreed strategy and governance frameworks.
Key responsibilities:
New business development
- Support the Director of Philanthropy & Partnerships and Development Director on the development and delivery of the new business plan in line with the fundraising strategy
- Works with the Senior Research and Insights Manager to identify emerging funding trends, opportunities, market opportunities and best practice
- In collaboration with the Development Director and Growth and Insights Director, lead the delivery of agreed cultivation strategies for priority prospects, proactively progressing relationships from qualification through to solicitation and conversion, leveraging senior stakeholders, board members, donor advocates and wider networks
- Develop and deliver compelling cultivation strategies and tailored pitch plans for priority prospects, including designing and building new donor acquisition vehicles (e.g. committees, cultivation events and targeted communications), working collaboratively with colleagues across Impetus
- Lead and support high-level meetings, pitches and negotiations with prospective donors, positioning Impetus as a credible and strategic partner

About HorseWorld (the real version)
Horses are incredible animals. They’ve carried humans into war; it’s no wonder they can read exactly what a child needs, often before the child knows it themselves.
Sadly, some people still abuse and neglect them. That’s where the HorseWorld hug comes in. With us, horses are safe. They live out all year round, form herds, roll in the mud, escape occasionally (because… horses), and get to live like horses again.
Our 160-acre farm is minutes from Bristol and Bath, but feels like a different world. In winter, photoshoots and tours involve waterproofs and wellies. In summer, it’s an outdoor oasis.

Why this role exists (the honest bit)
We raise around £1.5m a year against operating costs of around £2.5m.

Overview
The Premier League Foundation is seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Grants and Compliance Manager on a permanent basis. As a key member of the Central Operations team, you will help ensure the Foundation operates as an effective and efficient charity by maintaining robust, high‑quality grant‑management processes. Working closely with the Head of Governance and Operations and the Senior Impact and Insight Manager, you will oversee all grant‑making activity, from application through to monitoring, reporting and end‑of‑grant procedures. You will ensure the Code continues to evolve with governance best practice and will work directly with Premier League club charities to create regular opportunities for sharing good practice, supporting them to achieve full compliance with the Code and to strengthen their effectiveness and efficiency as charitable organisations.

The Premier League Foundation was established in 2010 to distribute funding provided by the Premier League and its partners to professional football club charities across England and Wales, supporting them in their delivery in thousands of community venues and schools across the country. The role
- Oversee the Premier League Foundation’s grant management function, ensuring timely, high-quality and consistent processes for grant assessment, approval, delivery, monitoring and reporting.

- Develop and maintain strong relationships with the 20 Premier League football club charities to ensure compliance with the Capability Code of Practice, providing tailored support, advice and guidance to aid the effective implementation of their Capability Action Plans
- Lead the Premier League Foundation’s internal self‑assessment against the Capability Code of Practice, monitoring progress and evaluating performance against the actions set out in our Capability Action Plan.
- Lead the delivery of the bi‑annual Capability Code of Practice Conference, as well as other grant‑making or governance‑related networking opportunities, events and training sessions
- Line-manage the Governance and Grants Executive, providing regular supervision, workload management, wellbeing support and opportunities for professional development.
- Ensure the Foundation is well connected to other initiatives and organisations in the sector and stay informed of trends in grant funding practice to inform operational improvements.
- Represent the Premier League Foundation in a professional and positive manner when engaging with internal and external stakeholders, always reflecting the organisation’s values.
- Undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required, and are commensurate with the job role, in furtherance of the objectives of the Premier League Foundation.

About the role
We are currently seeking to appoint a Safeguarding Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the day to day operational safeguarding functions for our charity. The Self‑Employment Programme is a growing initiative designed to help 18–25‑year‑olds transform their passions, skills and talents into real income‑generating opportunities. Through coaching, group delivery, mentoring, and practical business development activities, the programme provides accessible, person‑centred support to young people who want to pursue self‑employment as part of their pathway to independence.
The Self‑Employment Coach plays a key role in delivering high‑quality, empowering support to young people, working alongside the Self‑Employment Programme Manager to co‑design, deliver and evaluate a dynamic, inclusive and impactful programme.
Overall Job Purpose
To provide structured, person‑centred coaching to young people exploring or preparing for self‑employment. This includes delivering 1‑2‑1 and group sessions, supporting beneficiaries to develop viable business ideas, and helping them access tools, resources and opportunities needed to succeed. The role also contributes to the programme’s administrative, monitoring, partnership and outreach activities.
Working Conditions
The post is 21 hours per week, typically worked between 9:00am and 5:00pm. Contracted working days will be agreed with the Self‑Employment Programme Manager; however, Tuesdays are a mandatory working day. The post holder may occasionally be required to work evenings or weekends depending on programme needs.
The role includes 16.5 days of annual leave, in addition to public holidays.
AFK operates a TOIL (Time Off in Lieu) policy.
Working Relationships
The Self‑Employment Coach will work closely with young people, their families, education professionals, and colleagues across AFK to deliver tailored coaching and support.
The post holder will report regularly to the Self‑Employment Programme Manager and work alongside the Executive Director of Services as required, while actively engaging with external partners to ensure positive and sustainable outcomes for young people.
Principal Responsibilities
Coaching & Programme Delivery
- Deliver 1‑2‑1 coaching, small‑group sessions and workshop activities to support young people’s business development, confidence and skills.
- Work with young people to identify their aspirations, needs and goals, and translate them into practical action plans.
- Support trainees to develop essential components of their business ideas (e.g., value proposition, customer identification, pricing).
- Help young people understand the financial aspects of self‑employment, including budgeting, basic feasibility and potential benefits implications (with support from the Manager where specialist knowledge is required).
- Co‑facilitate specialist sessions with mentors, guest speakers or external partners.
Research & Business Development Support
- Research and suggest suitable platforms, markets and selling opportunities for trainees’ products or services (online and physical).
- Support trainees to understand and test their business ideas, including conducting simple market research and exploring feasibility.
Programme Co‑ordination & Administration
- Maintain accurate records, including session notes, trainee progress, KPIs and monitoring data.
- Contribute to evaluation processes, including collecting feedback, tracking impact and supporting continuous programme improvement.
- Support with scheduling, communication and preparation of delivery materials.
- Assist in maintaining a positive, accessible and inclusive programme environment.
Outreach & Partnerships
- Support delivery of outreach sessions in schools, colleges and community settings, promoting AFK’s offer.
- Develop positive working relationships with external partners, mentors and community organisations to enhance opportunities for trainees.
- Contribute to collaborative work across AFK departments, ensuring consistent communication and alignment with organisational objectives.

Training & Commercial Manager (Maternity Cover – 9 Months)
The Role
The Royal Statistical Society (RSS) is an internationally respected professional body with over 12,000 members, dedicated to advancing the use of statistics and data for the public good. Our commitment to training and professional development is central to our mission, helping individuals and organisations put data at the heart of understanding and decision-making.
We are seeking an experienced Training & Commercial Manager to oversee the operation, promotion and delivery of the Society’s flagship training and commercial activities during a maternity cover period.
You will lead the management of our entire training portfolio, ensuring high‑quality course delivery, coordinating and supporting trainers, and building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders. You will ensure RSS training reflects current market demand, is well planned, financially robust and positioned for sustainable growth. Alongside training, you will oversee the Society’s smaller advertising income streams, including Significance magazine and the RSS jobs board, ensuring effective administration, customer satisfaction and sustainable revenue growth.
On a day‑to‑day basis, you will manage the full operational delivery of the training programme – coordinating logistics, maintaining clear communications with trainers and delegates, responding to enquiries, and overseeing the Moodle learning platform. You will manage key financial processes including invoicing, budgeting and reporting, and act as the central point of contact during live course delivery to ensure smooth and professional execution.
Finally, working closely with colleagues from across the organisation, you will develop effective marketing campaigns to promote training and commercial activity, drive bookings and achieve financial targets. You will also contribute to cross‑organisational projects, including the RSS website redevelopment, ensuring training and commercial activity is effectively integrated across the new site.
Your main responsibilities
- Own the end‑to‑end delivery of RSS training – planning, scheduling, coordinating and supporting every course.
- Liaise directly with trainers and clients to build relationships and deliver a polished, professional experience across virtual and in‑person formats.
- Implement engaging marketing campaigns to drive bookings, raise awareness and achieve targets.
- Maintain accurate financial records and processes including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, invoicing and reconciliation.
- Deliver continuous improvements across operational systems, including the RSS Moodle platform.
- Manage RSS advertising products, ensuring smooth customer journeys and successful promotional campaign delivery.

Want to work with multiple award-winning charity, FoodCycle? As Regional Manager you will represent, manage and co-ordinate your allocated regional Projects. Our Projects are spaces where volunteers are empowered to run community meals using surplus food.
You will manage local relationships with venues, community partners, supermarkets and volunteer recruitment channels to enable this to happen. As an excellent communicator, you will manage the volunteers at each Project ensuring they are trained, supported and on-message with FoodCycle strategy, ensuring that volunteers are confident enough to self-organise and make a success of their Projects.
You will have experience of programme planning, delivery and development including community led/owned programmes. You will have experience of building relationships with a range of stakeholders and be passionate about food and cooking.
There will be frequent travel to our projects in Yorkshire and The Humber, with some evening and weekend work needed to cover our projects. A full driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes is essential for this rewarding role.
