We’re currently looking for a Senior Workplace Officer, offered on a fixed term basis of 12 months to help us deliver our mission. This a full-time position working 35 hours per week with flexible days that suit individual needs while delivering on business needs. This role will be mostly based in our London office with weekly flexibility where practical.

The Role

What will I be doing?

You’ll be responsible for a range of activities, including:

• Act as ‘the conductor’ of our rented office and meeting room spaces working with both internal and external stakeholders to provide consistently positive, welcoming, and inclusive experience.
• Directly line managing the receptionist and the AV technician, as well as oversee temporary or permanently based contractors to meet the building resourcing needs.
• Budget management inclusive of actuate recharging, invoicing external companies, and spending monitoring.
• Oversee the delivery of the front of house service and standards of the IOP staff office through supplier relationship management, maintaining stock levels, and effective logistics tracking.
• Ensure compliance and health and safety regulations, safeguarding requirements, security, alcohol licence requirements and any other relevant IOP policies.

Projects you may work on include:

• Being part of the organisation committees for all IOP events working closely with the departments involved.
• Review of our building revenue and how we can maximise this without conflicting with IOP operations.
• Space management and storage both onsite and externally.

Who will I work with?

You’ll work closely with a range of colleagues and stakeholders, including:

• Membership, Conferences, Science & Business Insights, Compliance, and CEO office IOP teams.
• Members and external partners who rent meeting room space or use our member facilities.
• Our tenants and serviced office companies.

Ideally, we hope you’ll apply if you bring:

Essential:

• Significant experience with organising events including using room booking systems, catering provisions and AV operational knowledge.
• Experience of line management and supplier management. 
• Experience with budget management including invoices processing and raising.
• Experience of working with multiple internal and external stakeholders, ensuring expectation are met and communication is regular and clear.
• An IOSH Managing Safely certification or similar is essential.
• Be first aid and emergency marshal qualified is essential.

Nice to have:

• Working for charities to understand budget restrictions and be creative with solutions.
• Working within the rented meeting room space industry and with knowledge of marketing or price pitching.
• Hold an alcohol licence (please note they must be willing to hold one).

Strategic Campaign Leadership

This Fundraising Lead role (Maternity Cover) is central to our strategy - designed to secure sustainable income through community engagement, partnerships, and bold, values-aligned funding. Fundraising & income generation

As Deputy Supported Housing Manager, you will play a central role in our- supported accommodation for young people aged 16–25 who are at risk of homelessness. Our services operate 24/7 to provide a safe, stable home where young people can feel understood, encouraged and supported.

Across our East Sussex sites, we work with around 50 young people, each with their own story, strengths, challenges and ambitions. Support Workers hold individual caseloads and meet regularly with residents to build support plans, celebrate progress, and set meaningful goals for the future. In delivering the role, you will work closely with the Supported Housing Manager, while supporting the wider team to deliver consistent, compassionate support. You will be responsible for:

Service Provision: Supporting the Supported Housing Manager with the daily operations of the services so that they meet the requirements of the service specification including compliance with the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) and Ofsted regulations. Oversee the residents’ referral, interview and induction processes for all beds and ensure the Occupancy Agreements and House Rules are fully understood. Ensure the quality of accommodation that is provided, liaising with the Housing and Property Services team to complete estate inspections and health and safety risk assessments, and to turn around voids and organise repairs in line with organisational targets and statutory obligations. With the Supported Housing Manager ensure effective income collection for all beds, working closely with the Rents team to create a rent payment culture.

You’ll be responsible for driving your own portfolio of 90 prospects and donors, including 4-figure and 5-figure levels.

A day in the life of a philanthropy manager could begin with researching and identifying prospects from a recent event; giving a studio tour to prospective donors and enthusing them about our youth programme; preparing a report for a major donor about our work with young entrepreneurs; and ending the day in the members bar with a current supporter who’s there for a gig. 

Weekend and evening work will be required according to business needs, mainly through attending departmental events with donors and attending the members bar. 

About you:

We would expect applicants to this role to have at least 3 years previous experience in managing a portfolio of prospects and donors and securing gifts toward charitable aims or projects. Responsibilities

We are seeking a motivated Grant Programme Manager to join our Global Programmes team within GIF. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a complex grant portfolio and ensuring effective delivery, financial oversight and strategic alignment.

1. Oversee and manage a portfolio of Small Farm Fund projects across multiple countries, ensuring delivery against BCI strategy and BCSS targets.
2. Lead grant application and assessment processes, including reviewing proposals, analysing organisational viability and contributing to funding recommendations.

The position is full-time (40 hours per week) and will be based either in London, Delhi, Lahore or Côte d'Ivoire. Better Cotton Initiative offers flexible working, with core hours being 10 am – 4 pm.  The position will require limited travel.

Our hiring process

Initial Screening:

Applicant screening is a crucial step in our recruitment process. This stage may involve a brief phone interview or video call to evaluate your suitability for the position. During this screening, we review resumes and cover letters, and may conduct initial background checks to narrow down the pool of applicant. Internal candidates are encouraged to inform their line manager about their application to promote transparency and help facilitate a smooth transition if selected.

Interviews:

If you successfully pass the initial screening, you will be invited for interviews. The interview process at Better Cotton Initiative may include one or more rounds of interviews with various stakeholders, such as the hiring manager, team members, and potentially senior management. As an internal candidate, you may have discussions regarding your current responsibilities and how they will transition to the new position.

Assessment and Testing: 

Depending on the role, you might be required to complete assessments, technical tests, or skills evaluations to gauge your competency and suitability for the position. Internal candidates may have the option to demonstrate their existing skills through current job performance or past project outcomes.

Reference Checks: 

Once you progress further in the process, reference checks are conducted to validate your work history, skills, and qualifications, and for some roles, your education and criminal history. Internal candidates may be asked for references from current or previous supervisors within Better Cotton Initiative to provide insights into their performance and capabilities.

Offer stage:

After completing interviews, assessments, and reference checks, the hiring team evaluates your performance and fit for the role. If you are selected and your references are relevant and satisfactory, you will receive a formal job offer letter outlining the terms of employment, compensation, benefits, and any other relevant details. For internal candidates, the offer process may include a discussion about how your transition to the new role will be managed and any support needed for a smooth handover.

We are looking for a Chief Executive Officer to take us into the next phase of growth, with the following responsibilities:

• Forming relationships with local charities and funders in Nottinghamshire and wider East Midlands region, and building relationships within the Deaf community, locally and nationall
• Representing SHUK across relevant forums, networks, and platform
• Bringing funding into core/central functions and securing ongoing funding for existing and future projects
• Managing the operations of SHUK via a senior leadership team of managers and function leads
• Ensuring SHUK is compliant with charity and employer regulations, ensuring high standards of governance, transparency, and integrity
• Ensuring overall financial control of the organisation, supported by the Finance Manager, keeping a regular eye on the core and restricted cashflow
• Supporting the Board of Trustees by ensuring they are making decisions based on accurate information and context
• Ensuring all members of staff and volunteers are supported and developed
• Ensuring SHUK’s services are of high quality and have a positive impact on those who use them
• Driving continuous improvement in quality, standards, image, and reputation

• Knowledge of the current NHS plans, and the significance of health inequalities – able to make a case for its importance during bids
• Knowledge/understanding of the Deaf Community
• Experience of managing change and stabilising an organisation
• Business development/networking skills
• Able to pivot between strategy and transactional or work with others to provide those skills, leading through empowerment
• Active interest in and knowledge of the Nottingham/Nottinghamshire locality.
• Able to work in Nottingham at least one day per week

Background:

SHUK is a leading peer support organisation with over 40 years of experience in developing and delivering peer-led services. Our mission is to empower individuals and communities by embedding peer support principles into health and wellbeing initiatives. We have created a range of innovative programmes that help people living with cancer and other long-term health conditions to navigate challenges and take control of their health and wellbeing.

We work in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support on projects that make a real difference. These include national and local initiatives for the Deaf community, volunteer-led support for anyone affected by cancer, and prehabilitation services for those facing complex treatment. We are collaborating with our Integrated Care Board (ICB) on cancer projects, and work within our Integrated Care System (ICS) to strengthen partnerships and synergies with local health and care delivery, improve health literacy and increase cancer screening uptake among underserved communities in Nottingham. Looking ahead, we are exploring a new direction to position SHUK as a holistic, person-centred support provider, embedding peer support and volunteer-led activity at the heart of everything we do. Our vision is to challenge health inequalities and enable people to feel confident, informed, and supported in shaping their own health journey.
