Making Music is the UK association for leisure-time music groups. We represent over 3,900 groups comprising around 200,000 musicians of all types, genres and abilities.

The Chief Executive provides strategic leadership for Making Music and its trading subsidiary, working closely with the Chair, Board of Trustees and Senior Management Team to develop and deliver the organisation’s mission, strategy, and long-term sustainability. The CEO oversees sound organisational and financial management, leads on governance and compliance, develops a motivated team, and champions best practice.

As a membership focused charity, Making Music places leisure-time music groups at its heart. The CEO ensures members’ voices inform strategy, services and advocacy, maintaining visibility and accessibility while fostering trust and engagement across a diverse national community.

The CEO leads external advocacy, lobbying, and partnership development, acting as an ambassador for Making Music and the wider leisure-time music sector. They represent the organisation and its members in the media, to policy makers, partners, stakeholders and funders; to strengthen recognition of the social, cultural, and wellbeing value of community music-making.

The Vacancy

This is an exciting opportunity within the newly formed Centralised functions at NCB supporting the Business Support Team.

The post holder will lead the operational delivery of a range of activities for the Business Support Team, working closely with peers to provide coherent, consistent support to delivery teams. This will include oversight and management of people, tasks and activities according to business need, and supporting teams and directorates with business administration, facilities and organisation as well as project and event support.

A key requirement of the role is the ability to deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes at scale. The post holder will provide hands-on decision making across triage, planning, delivery and evaluation. They will work with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders, managing and directing the work of multiple concurrent activities in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires end-to-end ownership of tasks and projects, alongside strong stakeholder engagement, effective people management of a small team of staff, and the ability to balance competing priorities.

Financial oversight, including budget management and risk mitigation is essential to ensure efficient and sustainable operations.

The post holder will also work closely with peers to drive a culture of continuous improvement informed by a strategic, systems thinking and data driven mindset to optimise processes, enhance customer experience and improve delivery performance over time.

Purpose of the job

UK Youth exists to widen the reach and deepen the impact of youth work and outdoor learning.

Key responsibilities

Public Affairs support

• Produce briefings and speaking notes for UK Youth leadership and trustees relating to important policy issues and external events.

• Manage relationships with politicians, civil servants, and staff in local authorities and regulatory bodies to brief them on matters relating to UK Youth’s policy objectives.

• Identify opportunities for UK Youth to publicly intervene on key policy priorities – including responses to government consultations, speaking at events, meeting with key influencers, etc.

• Develop written content, including blogs, and support colleagues in our Communications team to respond to breaking news relating to UK Youth’s policy priorities.

• Work closely with the Communications team to support the development of influencing plans that promote our policy messages on public channels.

Political monitoring and policy development support

• Coordinate with monitoring services to ensure proactive monitoring of relevant announcements and developments in Parliament and the devolved nations that relate to youth work and young people.

• Work with colleagues across the Impact Function to understand trends and innovations in the youth and outdoor learning sectors that have implications for policy.

• Ensure that there is a clear record of UK Youth’s policy positions on key issues, along with rationale and suggested messaging.

• Contribute to external-facing policy reports and briefings on topics relating to UK Youth’s work.

Stakeholder engagement and event management

• Build strong working relationships with policy professionals across the youth sector and identify opportunities to work in partnership, where appropriate.

• Develop relationships with key external stakeholders including other policy and public affairs teams in the youth sector and civil servants.

• Work closely with young people and youth workers to help refine UK Youth’s policy positions and influencing plans.

• Lead on day-to-day management of UK Youth’s secretariat role for the Back Youth Alliance, with oversight and support from the Head of Policy and Public Affairs.

• Project manage UK Youth’s involvement in key influencing events, such as party conferences, with oversight and support from the Head of Policy and Public Affairs.

• Represent UK Youth at meetings and events – helping to disseminate insights from our work, tell the story of youth work’s impact to inspire lasting change.  

Experience we're after

• Experience working in the area of policy and public affairs or equivalent experience in other areas (such as through an apprenticeship, volunteering role, or university)

Job Description  

The Partnership Officer will be a key member of The Hygiene Bank’s income generation team and wider central team, with a responsibility to help meet the needs of our existing partnerships and support in fulfilling the charity’s income generation plans and strategy. 

Key Responsibilities 

You will support the management of our brand partners, working with the Head of Brand and Corporate Partnerships. Your role will be to source new brand relationships, set up meetings for the team and support existing brand partnerships. 

• Work closely with the Head of Brand and Corporate Partnerships to identify and outreach to target brand partners, working to engage their support for the charity

• Account management of new and existing partners 

• Meticulous record keeping, ensuring the pipeline and the opportunity database are current and up to date.

• Contribute to the organisation and team's annual plans, strategies, and budgets. 

• Develop, monitor, and maintain systems and processes including Salesforce and account management plans. 

• Assist with the creation of marketing materials, such as newsletters, brochures, and partner impact reports.

• Understand and support the vision, mission, and values of The Hygiene Bank.

The Foundation for Jewish Heritage is the UK’s only dedicated organisation focused on preserving and activating Jewish built heritage as a catalyst for education, culture, memory and community renewal.

Over the past decade, the Foundation has grown from a small specialist charity into a recognised leader in the field of Jewish built heritage. It has secured major support for nationally significant projects, including a £6 million flagship heritage project supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Welsh Government, Garfield Weston, Wolfson and Rothschild.

The Foundation is now entering an important new phase. Alongside major project delivery, it is taking on a wider UK role, supporting communities and historic synagogues across the country, including places such as Liverpool, Bradford, Leicester, Brighton and Merthyr Tydfil. It is also developing European partnerships, particularly in countries such as Poland and Germany, and strengthening relationships with North American and Canadian supporters.

The Foundation’s work is about more than saving buildings. Historic synagogues and heritage sites are gateways into the stories of Jewish life, identity, migration, civic contribution and cultural memory. They offer a powerful way of engaging Jewish and wider audiences with the richness and complexity of Jewish history in Britain and across Europe.

The Foundation has reached a point where its fundraising structure needs to match the scale of its ambition.

Until now, much of the fundraising has been led directly by the Chief Executive, supported by trustees, consultants and external bid writers. This has delivered significant success, particularly around major heritage projects and institutional funders. However, the organisation now needs a more structured, proactive and relationship-led fundraising function.

The Head of Development will work closely with the Chief Executive, trustees and a new Fundraising Committee to broaden the donor base, strengthen major relationships, develop new income streams, and ensure that the Foundation is no longer dependent on a small number of individuals or on the Chief Executive holding most fundraising relationships personally.

This is not simply a fundraising support post. It is a strategic development role for someone who can combine relationship building, major donor fundraising, compelling written communication, careful stewardship and long-term pipeline management.

The successful candidate will help turn the Foundation’s growing profile into sustained philanthropic support.

We now have a fantastic opportunity for a new Chief Executive Officer to lead MySight York into its next chapter, building on strong foundations while delivering an ambitious strategy that will expand the charity's reach, influence and impact.

The Role

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Chief Executive Officer will provide strategic leadership, vision and direction for MySight York, ensuring the organisation remains financially sustainable, delivers high-quality services and continues to amplify the voices of people living with sight loss.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Providing strategic leadership to deliver the organisation's vision, mission and strategic priorities.
• Working closely with the Board of Trustees to ensure strong governance, compliance and organisational sustainability.
• Leading, motivating and developing a committed team of staff and volunteers, fostering a culture of inclusion, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Ensuring the charity's long-term financial sustainability through effective financial management, fundraising and income diversification.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with funders, NHS partners, local authorities, community organisations and other key stakeholders.
• Acting as the principal ambassador and spokesperson for MySight York, championing accessibility, inclusion and the rights of people with sight loss.
• Driving innovation, digital development and service improvement to ensure support remains responsive to changing needs.

The Person

The successful candidate will bring:

• Significant senior leadership experience within the charity, public, voluntary or private sector.
• A strong track record of developing and delivering organisational strategy and leading change.
• Experience of working effectively with Boards of Trustees or equivalent governance structures
• Strong financial and operational management experience, with the ability to ensure long-term sustainability
• Excellent partnership-building, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Outstanding communication and leadership abilities, with the credibility to inspire staff, volunteers, trustees and external partners.
• An understanding of the disability, health or social care sectors and a genuine passion for MySight York's mission.

You will bring strong technical finance skills, sound judgement, commercial awareness and the ability to communicate clearly with non-finance colleagues. Just as importantly, you will be collaborative, values-led and motivated by the opportunity to use finance as an enabler of environmental and social impact.
