Hand in Hand International is partnering exclusively with Robertson Bell to recruit a Financial Accountant on a permanent, part-time basis.
This role offers a rare opportunity to work for a charity that helps millions of women in some of the world’s poorest countries succeed as entrepreneurs and work their way out of poverty. The role also offers the possibility for international travel, excellent benefits, being a part of a passionate and high performing team, as well as definitive room for growth and development, e.g. 3 staff members were promoted internally at the start of this financial year.
Hand in Hand International is a growing charity that is increasing its reach geographically. Current areas being supported includes Eastern Africa and Afghanistan. The current strategic plan to 2026 has an ambitious target to increase income by 15% each year and expand reach by launching programmes in Zimbabwe and Uganda in the next year.

Some are smallholder farmers learning to stand up to climate change. Some are refugees starting a new life after running from conflict. Others are young women and girls with few opportunities, starting to dream – and plan – for the future.

Do you have experience in sharing the love of God and His gospel within diverse urban communities?
Do you have a passion for mission in London?
At London City Mission, we estimate that one in two Londoners, that’s roughly 4.5 million people, are unlikely to hear the gospel in their lifetime. The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate a love for those least likely to hear of Jesus and marginalised people groups of London; a track record in evangelism amongst those from the particular specialism group; and the ability to inspire others in churches across a geographical area to get involved in ministry. They will work alongside and equip church volunteers for outreach amongst the people groups in their communities, working as part of an experienced gospel ministry team. They will also need to be able to raise ministry personal support, including a target financial support as well as prayer supporters for the work of the Mission through personal and church partnership networks.
These positions are full-time, permanent appointments. Starting salary is £21,720 per annum plus £1,100 per month housing allowance (taxable). Mission housing will be discussed with successful candidates after probation. Targets for personal financial support will be £8,500 for the year 2024.

And, when someone’s ready to move on, we'll rely on you to help them access the housing register or look for suitable rented accommodation.
What we’re looking for:
You may have worked with vulnerable young people in a paid or voluntary capacity, maybe as a Youth Worker or in an education setting providing pastoral care. You’re a great relationship builder, who can create trust so that our young people feel comfortable sharing their issues with you, you listen but in a non-judgemental way and you are able to spot signs for concern and act on them. You’ll also need to be able to work on your own, sometimes dealing with challenging situations and diffusing them to avoid escalation. Is this you?
- Relationship building skills
- Empathy
- Great listening skills
- Diplomacy and the ability to deal with challenging situations and diffuse them
- Non judgmental
- Proactive and assertive
You will be required to subscribe to the DBS Update Service and this annual membership will be repaid to you. It is essential that you are able to work 37.5 hours a week – we are not a UK licenced sponsor and any sponsorship with another employer is not valid for this role.
