This is an exciting opportunity to join Bede Starfish as we deliver the Women's Safety Alliance (WSA), Southwark's newly commissioned Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) service. Working alongside specialist partners, the WSA provides co-ordinated, trauma-informed support to women, children, young people, families and male victims affected by domestic abuse, sexual violence and other forms of VAWG.

While the Women's Safety Alliance is a newly commissioned service, you'll be joining Bede, a trusted Southwark charity that has been supporting local communities since 1938. As our VAWG Service Co-ordinator, you'll be at the heart of a busy, fast-paced frontline service. You'll be the first point of contact for many clients and professionals, ensuring people receive a welcoming, professional and trauma-informed response from the moment they reach out for support.

This is a varied role where no two days are the same. Alongside co-ordinating referrals, appointments and waiting lists, you'll have opportunities to attend community events, partnership meetings and networking forums across Southwark, helping to strengthen relationships and raise awareness of the Women's Safety Alliance within the local community.

About the role

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, you will provide strategic and operational leadership, ensuring CFFC continues to grow its impact, strengthen partnerships and inspire philanthropy across Calderdale.

You will lead and develop a committed staff team, work closely with Trustees, build trusted relationships with donors, businesses, professional advisers, charities and public sector partners, and ensure the organisation remains financially sustainable, well-governed and ambitious for the future.

You will also act as CFFC’s public ambassador, representing the organisation across Calderdale and beyond, while championing the importance of local giving and community investment.

About you

We are looking for an inspiring and collaborative leader with significant senior leadership experience and the ability to build confidence and credibility with a wide range of stakeholders.

The Role

About the Role

About the role

Shannon Trust are delighted to be working with His Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS) to provide reading strategy coordination at HMP Whatton. Working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will lead the delivery and implementation of HMP Whatton’s prison wide reading strategy, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read and enjoy the benefits of reading. 

Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings underpinned by the ability to build relationships and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach. 

This role is a fixed term role until 30th April 2027 with the opportunity to be made permanent subject to contract renewal.

The role will be prison-based. SAFE Cardiff  

SAFE in the City is a pilot project that brings our award-winning SAFE project to the City of Cardiff area. Funded by the Moondance Foundation and the Baily Thomas Charitable Fund, SAFE (Sexual Awareness for Everyone) is a project that empowers young people with learning disabilities a peer-led environment. It aims to improve the knowledge of topics relating to healthy relationships and sexual health, mate crime, and internet safety. It focuses on young people aged 16-35 with additional learning needs in addition to offering support to their families. 

SAFE is facilitated with peer-led workshops. The aim of this project is to empower young people with additional learning needs to lead the conversation and education around their own relationships improving knowledge and awareness of these topics for our beneficiaries of this project. 

Job purpose 

The successful candidate will deliver a pilot project, taking our SAFE project to Cardiff. You’ll be responsible for forging new connections and seeking opportunities in the area to deliver our SAFE workshops, encouraging the participation of volunteers wherever possible. The role will involve workshop delivery as well as volunteer recruitment and management. Working alongside an existing colleague in Gwent, you’ll develop and consolidate our workshop materials, to ensure that they’re meeting the needs of the young people participating.

Key Duties: 

1. Deliver SAFE workshops throughout the Cardiff area, involving volunteers in delivery where possible. 

1. Recruit, interview, induct, train and support volunteers.

1. Work closely with our SAFE project in Gwent to manage referrals into the project, updating on progress and plans in the process.

1. Develop and update workshop materials and activities to meet new challenges, in conjunction with SAFE colleagues in Gwent. 

1. Management of the matching/placement of volunteers, risk assessing the volunteers and planned activities, and monitoring and supporting the match throughout.

1. Maintain good record keeping, ensuring that evidence and impact data is collected so that we can monitor progress against outcomes. 

1. Promote the project through a range of techniques, instigating interest in volunteering and encouraging engagement.

1. Maintain effective relationships with volunteers, beneficiaries, colleagues and project partners.

1. Prepare reports with your senior project manager based on agreed outputs and targets.

1. Risk assess all activities, ensuring that they are regularly reviewed and amended if circumstances change.

Purpose of the post

The Associate Director of Finance is a senior leadership role, responsible for ensuring the charity’s financial health through sound management of its day-to-day financial operations, strong internal controls, and regulatory compliance. This post exists to provide leadership to the team, oversee treasury management, payment processing, payroll, and audit functions, and continuously improve financial processes and systems to support the charity’s long-term sustainability and mission.

With overall responsibility for the Finance and Funding Team, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the role ensures that the organisation’s financial framework is robust, supporting effective decision-making and delivering transparent, accurate financial reporting. The post-holder will also play a key role in revitalising the internal audit framework, ensuring the charity maintains high standards of accountability, and is prepared for future growth.

Main responsibilities

Financial Operations and Treasury Management:

• Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring effective controls and timely processing of transactions.

• Manage the charity’s treasury function, including cash flow forecasting and management of HDR UK’s bank accounts.

• Oversee maintenance of the accounting system, ensuring it supports effective financial reporting and compliance.

• Review and approve weekly payment runs and monthly payroll.

• As the organisation’s Finance lead, provide advice and guidance to the Senior Leadership Team regarding HDR UK’s financial position, controls and processes, and strategic direction.

Financial Reporting and Compliance:

• Lead the preparation of the charity’s annual accounts, ensuring they meet statutory reporting requirements and deadlines.

• Manage relationships with external auditors and coordinate the audit process.

• Ensure compliance with reporting requirements to regulators and other authorities (including HMRC, Charity Commission, The Pension Regulator, ONS)

Quarterly Forecasting and Budgeting:

• Work closely with the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager on quarterly forecasting and the annual budgeting process.

• Ensure alignment between financial operations and the charity’s broader strategic goals.

• Support the production of monthly management accounts.

• Work with the Associate Director of People to carry out the annual salary review, making recommendations founded on economic analysis and impacts on budget to SLT and the Remuneration Committee.

Process Improvement and Systems Management:

• Drive continuous improvement of internal financial processes, ensuring they are fit for purpose and scalable.

• Oversee and refresh HDR UK’s internal audit framework, ensuring the charity maintains strong internal controls.

• Implement and monitor key financial controls to safeguard the charity's assets, including management of the fixed asset register and ownership of HDR UK’s insurance policies.

 

Team Leadership:

• Directly manage the Finance Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis Manager, Senior Finance Business Partner and Finance Business Partner, providing mentorship and development opportunities.

• Lead and develop HDR UK’s Finance & Funding team, fostering a high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement, collaboration, and professional growth.

Governance and risk management:

• Support the development and implementation of financial policies, risk management strategies, and internal controls to maintain robust financial governance.

• Management of the delegated authority framework to increase efficiency in the approvals process while maintaining accountability.

• Attend and actively contribute to meetings of Senior Leadership Team, Board and relevant sub-committees such as Audit & Risk.

Stakeholder management:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with operational and finance teams within HDR UK’s wider community and network of university partners, ensuring transparent and effective communication and collaboration.

Experience

Required:

• Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role within the UK charity sector with a robust understanding of the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice.

• Proven track record of managing and leading financial operations, including treasury management, audit oversight, and financial reporting.

• Experience in developing and improving internal financial controls.

• Previous experience managing and developing high-performing finance teams.

• Experience working with multiple stakeholders, including senior leadership, external auditors, and operational teams.

Desirable:

• Demonstrated experience in reviewing and approving payroll, payment runs, and managing complex financial transactions.

• Experience in developing and improving internal audit frameworks.

• Experience working on quarterly forecasting, annual budgeting processes, and the production of management accounts.

Supporting Young People

The Royal Parks (TRP) is a charity created in March 2017. We manage over 5,000 acres of diverse parkland, rare habitats and historic buildings and monuments in eight Royal Parks across London. As the Procurement Officer role, you will be instrumental in enhancing the central procurement function. As part of our Corporate Strategy, we want to secure our financial future and diversify into new areas and so we need someone who can break the mould and make a difference to our services. We have a busy pipeline over the next 12 – 18 months, which the Procurement Officer will play a vital part in delivering.

In this role you will:

• Be responsible for developing and implementing end-to-end procurement strategies

We're looking for a kind, compassionate and resilient Waking Night Support Worker to join our Young People Service located in Tower Hamlets. No personal care or experience required, just the right values.

£30,784.00 per annum, working 40 hours per week.

Mile End Young Peoples service provides support and housing in Tower Hamlets that are either leaving care or affected by youth homelessness.

What you'll do:

This is not an exhaustive list of all the duties and responsibilities that may be required from time to time and is subject to change in accordance with the needs of Look Ahead.

• Building supportive, trusting relationships with customers
• Working proactively with other members of the team to handle the service caseload and administrative responsibilities
• Supporting key customers to set personalised goals in the form of a Support Plan
• Conducting regular key work sessions that are innovative and engaging in order to achieve Support Plan goals
• Ensuring ongoing assessment and management of risks associated with customers within an attitude of 'positive risk taking'
• Proactively manage risk and safety both in and outside of their physical living environment
