About the role

We’re looking for an engaging, empathetic and self-reliant outreach worker to join our dedicated team working to deliver support and practical advice to a community that has suffered as a result of the biggest treatment scandal in NHS history.

This is an opportunity to work for an organisation with a 75-year track record of effective advocacy for our small community of people living with genetic and acquired bleeding disorders and their families. Most importantly, this role has the potential to directly improve peoples’ lives.

Around two thirds of our members are impacted by the contaminated blood scandal of the 1970s and 80s, which was recently investigated by the Infected Blood Inquiry. The resulting report in 2024 recommended improved health resources for people with bleeding disorders as well as compensation and support for those infected and affected by the scandal.

Although significant progress has been made, there’s a lot more to do. Many of the community feel isolated and with the Infected Blood Inquiry now closed there is a need for people to maintain and develop connections with others that understand what they have and continue to endure. It is vital that the community has a safe environment to express their views and seek help and support.

Part of the role will involve supporting the future generations of affected families ensuring they have the support and care they need to live their best lives.

Background and purpose

We are the only UK-wide charity for all those affected by a genetic bleeding disorder, a community of individuals and families, healthcare professionals and supporters.

For more than 75 years we have campaigned for better treatment, been a source of information and advice and supported people living with life-long conditions.

Improving understanding about living with a bleeding disorder

Providing support at all life stages

Influencing and advocating on policy and access to treatment.

More than 40,000 men, women and children in the UK have a diagnosed bleeding disorder, and the number rises every year. Membership of the Haemophilia Society is free and open to all.

Key responsibilities:

• Engage with the infected blood community to understand their ongoing needs and the support that could be of value.
• Develop and deliver a series of engagement events to support the community and fulfil the identified needs.
• Feedback to the Haemophilia Society issues, needs and concerns raised by the infected blood community.
• Engage with external stakeholders who support and deliver services for the infected blood community.
• Explore additional resources available that may be useful to the community and where appropriate develop additional resources.
• Liaise with other charities active in this space across the UK.
• Track engagement with events and gather feedback on the objectives of the meetings.

Other requirements

• This role will require extensive travel throughout the UK and to work varying hours including evenings and weekends as required.

About the Role

• Work closely with the Comms team to grow our audience through lead generation campaigns on social media

• Convert new audiences to membership
• Trial door drops, phone campaigns and reactivation to establish which methods have the best ROI for recruiting new members
• Create and trial other ideas and initiatives to grow audiences and recruit members

Responsibility 2: Membership Retention

• Instigate welcome calls to new members
• Review and take responsibility for the welcome journey for new members, ensuring Direct Debit compliance as well as outstanding supporter engagement
• Organise and host in-person events for new members
• Organise and host online events for members as well as taking advantage of and communicating details of relevant national events
• Arrange long-standing member recognition and telephone thank-a-thons
• Research and trial other methods which may have a positive impact on membership retention and/or lifetime value
• Instigate a semi-regular survey so we can gauge members’ interests and satisfaction levels

Responsibility 3: Analysis and Administration

• Establish metrics and data reporting to monitor the success of each initiative.
• Conduct an annual targeted uplift mailing

The Community Participation Officers work as part of the community team at Toynbee Hall, flexibly and collaboratively using their skills and experience to work with and support community members to create a welcoming and inclusive space.

Scope of role
Whilst you may be expected to lead on certain elements of the programme, we will work together to determine how we assign tasks and workload across the team. We work together and take shared responsibility for delivering all aspects of our communities portfolio.

Key working relationships
The CPOs report to the Community Centre Manager. The role works in close collaboration with the Community Partnerships Manager a tndhe research team.
Maintaining excellent external relationships is vital to this role. The CPO may liaise with relevant local networks and organisations. Community engagement is vital: the CPO will also regularly consult and engage with community members.

Key Responsibilities

Community Programming:
• Working with the Community Programming Manager to plan activities and events that are safe, in the budget, and intentionally designed to be inclusive and appropriate for the intended audience. • Working with the Community Programming Manager to design and safe, creative, and stimulating play sessions and events for children, ensuring activities are developmentally appropriate, inclusive and delivered within budget; and delivering these activities
• Delivering to a brief, and clearly and proactively communicating plans with stakeholders across teams. • Supporting and enabling local people to have a meaningful voice in shaping our services.

Safeguarding and Safety:
• Taking responsibility for the upkeep of the community centre, ensuring that facilities operate in line with organisational health and safety policies and procedures.
• Implementing agreed procedures to provide appropriate support or referrals for service users, recognising and responding to safeguarding concerns, maintaining clear records.
• Following administrative procedures.

Outreach:
• Promoting our services and ensure they are as impactful as possible
• Representing Toynbee Hall to external audiences

Organisational working:
• Contributing to the overall development and implementation of Toynbee Hall’s strategy
• Building good working relationships
• Developing an open and ‘critical friend’ dialogue within our programmatic work
• Undertaking any other appropriate responsibilities that may arise

Essential Criteria

Community Programming
• Experience of planning and delivering safe, inclusive, and in-budget community activities and events for diverse audiences, including older people and communities experiencing social or economic disadvantage.
• Experience of designing and delivering safe, creative, and developmentally appropriate play sessions and activities for children.

• Ability to deliver work to an agreed brief and proactively communicate plans and progress with internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrable commitment to community participation, with experience of supporting local people to shape services and contribute to positive community change.

Safeguarding and Safety
• Knowledge of safeguarding principles and experience of recognising, responding to, recording, and appropriately escalating safeguarding concerns.
• Understanding of health and safety responsibilities within a community setting, including risk assessment and maintaining safe, welcoming, and inclusive spaces.
• Experience of implementing referral procedures and working with internal and external partners to ensure service users receive appropriate support.
• Strong administrative skills

Outreach and Representation
• Experience of promoting services through outreach, partnership working, and marketing (including face-to-face engagement, social media, and community networks).
• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with local organisations and stakeholders.

Here at Rainbows Children’s Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care and end-of-life support to over 750 Babies, Children, and Young People living with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, as well as approximately 3,000 people, including families, siblings, and carers, across the East Midlands. Simply put, we’re here to brighten short lives and support families, wherever they are.

We are currently seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to join our dedicated Volunteering Team at Rainbows. Volunteers play a pivotal role in supporting every aspect of our vital work – from fundraising and events, to our retail shops and the hospice itself – with over 350 individuals generously volunteering their time, skills, and passion.

We are looking for a positive and enthusiastic individual who will help ensure volunteers feel welcomed, supported, and confident, enabling them to make a meaningful difference to children, young people and families across our services.

Location: Primarily an office-based role, at our hospice in Loughborough.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 am – 5 pm. Some flexibility is required, as occasional evening and weekend working and regional travel will be part of supporting volunteers.

About the role

As a Volunteer Coordinator, you will play a key role in shaping how people volunteer with Rainbows. You’ll lead on volunteer recruitment across the East Midlands, building relationships with communities and organisations, and supporting individuals to find opportunities that match their motivations, skills and strengths. Once volunteers are involved, you’ll help ensure they feel confident, informed and well supported, working closely with colleagues to create positive volunteering experiences.

· Recruitment, Selection, and Induction: Be the first point of contact for volunteering enquiries and applications, ensuring a seamless onboarding process.

· Volunteer Support and Supervision: Act as the central point of contact for volunteers at Rainbows, offering guidance and support throughout their volunteering journey.

· Team Collaboration: Provide staff with proactive support and best practices for volunteer management, engagement, and stewardship.

· Operational Duties: Maintain accurate volunteer records, ensuring GDPR compliance, and provide KPI data as needed.

We’re looking for an innovative, passionate and professional individual with excellent communication and organisational skills to join the Stroke Recovery Service based in the Salford area.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with stroke survivors and their families to support them following a stroke.

Position: S11363 Stroke Support Coordinator

Location: Home-based, Salford, however, regular travel will be required as part of this role (may include team meetings or other work-related meetings)

Hours: Part-time, 21 hours per week

Salary: Circa £17,000 per annum (FTE circa £28,300 per annum)

Contract: Services are contracted and there is currently funding for this contract until 31 March 2027.

The Role

The service aims to identify and address the needs of stroke survivors and carers across the stroke pathway, by providing a range of innovative support solutions, supporting them to meet their desired outcomes.

A key part of the role will be to recruit, train and manage a team of volunteers, to support service users and the delivery of the service.

The Stroke Support Coordinator will:

• Support new stroke survivors and their carers from hospital discharge into the community.
• Provide personalised information, advice and support.
• Support clients to make informed lifestyle changes which will help them to prevent further strokes
• Be accountable for volunteers, so experience of recruiting, training and managing volunteers would be an advantage.

About You

The post holder will have experience/background in:

• A caring profession ideally with experience of supporting people with disabilities.
• Setting up and running groups.

This role requires extensive travel across a large geographical locality to visit people at home and in community settings. Candidates must be able to demonstrate how they can meet this requirement of the role.

About the role

As an Engagement Worker, you will be pivotal in delivering Shelter’s purpose to defend the right to a safe home by enabling those we assist to enforce their housing rights. You will be a key member of the Housing First team in South Tyneside, delivering intensive support to a small number of individuals with multiple disadvantage, to move from homelessness to sustaining a tenancy. You will need to form links with partner organisations and agencies and your role will be fundamental in supporting someone on their journey through Housing First, supporting up to seven clients at any one time.

About you

You will need experience of support work, a proven ability to listen to, engage and work with individuals and communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders, especially substance misuse services, health and probation and people with lived experience of homelessness. You will have an awareness of working in a trauma informed, strengths based approach to help people with multiple disadvantage, as well as having experience of writing and implementing person centred support plans and writing detailed case-notes.  Also, you have flexible time management skills and are comfortable collaborating with people from other teams and organisations.
