The Philanthropy Officer is an essential role within Amref UK's Supporter Engagement Team. It combines fundraising, supporter care, prospect research, event management and administration – with a focus on delivering our philanthropy strategy to increase unrestricted income. About the role

The Finance Coordinator position will report to the Finance Manager. Outline of Role
As RCF enters this exciting stage, there is huge demand for our support in a wide range of global contexts, and our key challenge is to ensure we have robust institutional capacity - systems and procedures - to attract and effectively administer growing levels of investment.
As RCF attracts multi-year funding from a wider range of partners – including large grant providers and high-net-worth individuals - we need greater financial management capacity to ensure we are managing our resources responsibly and effectively. There will therefore be a strong focus on managing RCF’s finances – and strong experience in this area will be essential. There is also a focus on wider aspects of our operations and human resourcing.
The jobholder will work closely with the Co-Director (Strategy and Organisational Development) receiving support and encouragement where required. There will always be a strong focus on personal growth and for the right candidate there is scope to quickly grow into leading the finance and operations functions, reporting directly to Trustees and senior strategic partners and becoming a key strategic voice in the organisation.

Financial oversight, planning, and reporting
Review all financial transactions related to the ADB project on a monthly basis and ensure that they are correct including cost recovery, co-financing, bank balances, and coding.
Ensure the ADB project is up to date in the Grant Management Tracker, Co-financing Tracker and Cost Recovery forecast.
Prepare financial information for internal reporting, including contributions to quarterly CEO reports, monthly dashboards, and co-finance updates.
Prepare all ADB project donor financial reports and ensure consistency with internal data.
Prepare and submit other donor financial reports as required.

Monitor project and portfolio spending, flagging significant under & overspends in a timely manner to the Programme Finance Manager and Programmes & Partnerships team.
Financial controls, compliance, and audit
Lead financial planning and monitoring for the ADB project, ensuring alignment with ADB compliance requirements and AKF(UK) internal controls.
Support the design and implementation of quality controls, manuals, checklists, and tools to ensure compliance with donor requirements (ADB and others).

Oversee compliance with donor and AKF(UK) rules on procurement, accounting, and project expenditure, supported by reporting, engagement with the field, and spot checks.
Maintain internal tools (including AIMS) to track active ADB grants as well as other grants, ensuring data on secured funding, cost recovery, and cash balances remains up to date.
Prepare for and support donor and statutory audits, with particular responsibility for the ADB project while also contributing to audits of other grants.
Maintain an up-to-date audit and disallowance tracker for the ADB project, while supporting the Programme Finance Manager in tracking audit issues across all grants.
Troubleshoot donor compliance or procurement queries, with emphasis on ADB but extending to other donor portfolios where needed.
Act as a resource person for ADB donor compliance within AKF(UK), while sharing knowledge and lessons learned more widely across the grants portfolio.
Support wider Programme Finance team capacity-building efforts, drawing on insights from ADB donor requirements and practices.
Grant financial management
In close consultation with the programmes & partnerships team:
Maintain accurate financial records and grant codes for the ADB project, while supporting the set-up and management of other grants as needed.
Ensure timely submission of cash requests and sub-grant agreements, in compliance with both ADB and AKF(UK) standards, and support the same across the wider portfolio.
Review budgets for ADB and other donor concepts/proposals, ensuring inclusion of AKF(UK) costs, compliance with donor requirements, and consistency with narratives.
Support the in-country project management unit (PMU) to ensure that the project is robustly managed and proactively support the resolution of challenges as they arise.
Provide training and reference materials for implementing partners and field staff on ADB-specific donor regulations, procurement, and reporting, while contributing to broader finance training across the organisation.
Provide technical support and guidance to implementing partners and country units, with particular focus on ADB compliance but also assisting with other donor requirements as needed.
Conduct monitoring visits and spot checks on the ADB project and participate in risk monitoring across the wider portfolio.
Collaborate with the assigned Senior Partnerships Manager to align financial management with programme delivery.
Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Programme Finance Manager or the Head of Finance and Operations.
The role will involve travel to countries in which we operate grants, particularly Afghanistan (security situation dependent). Normally this could be 1-2 trips per year.
Qualifications
CCAB qualified accountant (desirable).

The role
Working to the COO, the Finance & CRM Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day finance function and overseeing the operation, data quality, and user support of the organisation’s new CRM system. The role encompasses financial processes, CRM data and reporting, governance, and wider organisational activity.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Administration
• Manage finance operations: ledgers, payment runs, reconciliations, VAT and Gift Aid where applicable.
• Work with the external payroll bureau to prepare monthly payroll.
• Liaise with HSBC regarding direct debit set-up and management.
• Run and validate financial reports and prepare monthly management accounts.
• Provide support in updating Companies House and Charity Commission records.
• Liaise with Somerset House regarding office administration.
• Support the external audit with reports, schedules and response to queries
CRM and Systems Management & User Support
• Manage daily CRM operations and provide support for reporting on contacts, organisations, events, fundraising, and prize submissions.
• Carry out system admin including user access, fields, workflows, and reports.
• Perform regular data quality checks and cleansing.
• Act as first-line CRM support for staff including onboarding new users.
• Manage access permissions.
• Liaise with CRM supplier, logging and tracking support tickets.

The Opportunity
As MAAC prepares for the planned departure of its current postholder, the organisation is seeking an exceptional Director of Finance to join the Executive Team. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the Finance Director is a key member of the Charity’s Leadership Team, providing strategic financial direction across the Group (the parent charity and its trading subsidiary). This role ensures the organisation remains financially resilient, well‑governed, and strongly positioned to deliver its mission for the long term – through working collaboratively with the Chief Executive, Leadership Team and Board members.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Play a key role as part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), contributing to organisational strategy and fostering strong cross‑department collaboration. Work collaboratively with the Chief Executive and SLT to develop and maintain the three-year strategic plan, ensuring financial projections, assumptions, and scenario planning are based on accurate data and sound forecasting.
- Provide strategic financial leadership that supports long‑term sustainability, future growth, and the delivery of critical services.
- Build strong, transparent, and trusting relationships with Board members by delivering clear, relevant financial reporting and assurance (supporting Board members to carry out their governance responsibilities effectively). Manage the Audit and Risk Committee’s activities in conjunction with the Committee Chair

- Oversee the timely preparation of monthly Group Management Accounts, ensuring high-quality financial reporting is supported by meaningful commentary, variance analysis, trend interpretation, and insights that enable informed strategic decision-making by the SLT and Trustees.
- Manage the relationship with the Charity’s external investment portfolio fund manager and independent investment advisors - ensuring the Charity receives high-quality professional advice on investment strategy, shareholdings, and cash allocation, and that all recommendations align with organisational objectives, ethical considerations, and risk appetite.
About You
You will be a professionally qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or equivalent) with substantial senior‑level experience and the credibility to operate confidently at Board level. Most importantly, you will embody strong values, show high emotional intelligence, and be genuinely motivated to contribute to MAAC’s mission. Charity sector experience is essential - with a thorough understanding of what it takes to promote financial best practice, control spend and assist with income generation in sizable Not-for-Profit environments. Critically, you will lead through expert technical skillsets and collaborative working —shaping direction, offering robust assurance, and operating as a trusted strategic partner to senior colleagues and Trustees/ Directors.

Job DescriptionWe’re looking for an exceptional Legacy Administration Team Leader to play a critical role in safeguarding and maximising one of Marie Curie’s most significant income streams. This is a senior operational role suited to someone with large-charity experience, a strong commercial mindset, and the confidence to manage a high-volume, high-value caseload in a fast-paced environment.
You’ll oversee a team of three Legacy Officers, providing expert guidance, coaching and performance management while maintaining accountability for a portfolio of around 900 active cases. Alongside this, you’ll personally manage approximately 50 complex and contentious matters, including litigation-related cases, ensuring Marie Curie’s interests are protected through robust decision-making, cost-benefit analysis and close collaboration with our legal team.
What You’ll Do
- Lead, support and develop three Legacy Officers, ensuring high performance, quality assurance and clear progression pathways.
- Hold oversight and accountability for 900+ legacy cases, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely administration.
- Manage a personal caseload of 50 complex and contentious matters, including litigation, disputes and reputationally sensitive issues.
- Work closely with the legal team, executors, solicitors and co-beneficiaries to protect Marie Curie’s entitlement.
- Apply strong commercial judgement, undertaking cost-benefit analysis and making informed decisions on behalf of the charity.
- Monitor KPIs, SLAs and quality standards, ensuring consistent excellence across the team.
- Provide expert technical guidance on wills, probate, tax, trusts and multi-jurisdictional UK estate administration.
- Support process improvement, systems optimisation and operational best practice.
- Deputise for the Legacy Administration Manager when required.
Skills & Experience Needed
- Proven line management experience, including performance management, coaching and developing staff.
- Significant experience in a large charity legacy administration team, ideally handling income of £20m+ annually.
- Demonstrable experience managing contentious and complex legacy cases, including litigation and dispute resolution.
- Advanced technical knowledge of wills, probate, trusts, tax and estate administration across multiple UK jurisdictions.
- Strong commercial mindset, able to assess risk, analyse costs and make confident, informed decisions.
- High-volume caseload management experience, with exceptional organisational skills and the ability to prioritise under pressure.
- Excellent stakeholder management, able to influence solicitors, executors, co-beneficiaries and internal teams.
- Exceptional attention to detail, especially when reviewing legal documentation, estate accounts and financial information.
- Strong systems capability, ideally with experience using FirstClass4 or similar legacy administration platforms.
