About the role:
Recovery is about more than addressing immediate needs. It is also about having somewhere to belong, opportunities to build confidence and skills, meaningful connections with other people, and the chance to take part in the community around you. As our Recovery and Opportunities Co-ordinator, you’ll help make those opportunities a reality for people experiencing homelessness and multiple disadvantage in our St John's Mansions service.
You’ll develop and coordinate our Recovery and Opportunities programme, creating activities and opportunities that reflect what clients actually want from their services and communities. You’ll work alongside clients, colleagues, volunteers and peer supporters to co-produce activities, build participation and make sure people are supported to get involved in ways that feel meaningful to them. You’ll also help equip others with the confidence, training and resources they need to deliver opportunities effectively.
A big part of the role happens beyond our services. You’ll build strong relationships with community organisations, local residents, statutory and voluntary-sector partners and other opportunities across Islington, opening doors for clients to access volunteering, education, cultural activities and wider community life. You’ll represent Single Homeless Project (SHP) at local forums and events, champion social value across our services and look for creative ways we can contribute positively to the communities our clients are part of.
You’ll also help us understand what is making a difference, monitoring participation and outcomes and using what we learn to strengthen the programme over time. In a city where hundreds are forced into homelessness every day, our work has never been more needed or more challenging. And we’re not shying away. We’re rolling up our sleeves to make change and helping over 10,000 Londoners every year. We prevent homelessness, provide safe places to live and give people the opportunity to rebuild their lives and transform their futures. And we never give up.
We’re here for Londoners wherever they are on their journey. We start with trust, building relationships that help people feel safe, supported, and ready to move forward. You’ll work alongside colleagues with lived experience, in a space that’s trans-inclusive, disability-friendly, and actively striving to be anti-oppressive and equitable.
We’re not perfect, but we’re real. We listen. We learn. And we push forward, together. Because this isn’t just a job. It’s a chance to lead with empathy, spark change, and help build a London where no one is left behind.
