Join Liver UK at an exciting point in our development.
Liver UK is the national charity for people affected by liver disease and liver cancer. We provide expert information and support, raise awareness, promote prevention and earlier diagnosis, influence policy and ensure the voices of people affected by liver disease are heard.
Following the coming together of the British Liver Trust and Children’s Liver Disease Foundation, we are now Liver UK: one charity supporting people of all ages and with all types of liver disease.
We have strong foundations, an ambitious strategy for 2026–2032 and a clear goal to make liver health a national priority. We are now moving from a period of transformation into one focused on delivery, growth and impact.
We are looking for an experienced, highly organised and confident Senior Administrator to play a central role in helping our organisation run effectively.
The role
This is much more than a traditional administration role.
You will be at the heart of our day-to-day operations, providing high-quality administrative and operational support across Liver UK and working with colleagues at all levels, including our Senior Management Team.
We are looking for someone who enjoys creating structure, improving processes and finding ways to make how we work more efficient and effective. You will manage a varied workload, keep important actions moving, coordinate organisational processes and help ensure agreed deadlines are met.
You will need to be confident and appropriately persistent. You’ll build good relationships with colleagues, while also being comfortable following things up, challenging constructively and having clear and confident conversations about deadlines, priorities and standards.
You will also provide day-to-day supervision and support to our office-based Apprentice, helping them to organise their workload, develop their skills and build confidence in their role.
What you’ll be doing
· Providing senior administrative and operational support across the charity.
· Coordinating meetings, diaries, travel, events and other organisational activity.
· Managing central telephone and shared email services.
· Proactively following up actions, information and approvals across teams.
· Supervising and supporting our Apprentice and overseeing office-based volunteers.
· Maintaining accurate information within Raiser’s Edge and other organisational systems.
· Supporting data quality, GDPR and records management.
· Managing routine supplier arrangements and office contracts, obtaining good value and negotiating where appropriate.
· Supporting staff technology and systems, including laptops and telephony administration.
· Coordinating our monthly all-staff Touchpoints.
· Supporting office facilities, health and safety, publications and stock.
· Helping improve systems, processes and ways of working across Liver UK.
About you
You will already have significant experience in a busy administration, office operations or organisational support role.
You’ll be exceptionally organised, reliable and comfortable taking ownership rather than waiting to be directed. You’ll be able to manage competing priorities, spot what needs to happen next and see tasks through to completion.
Just as importantly, you’ll have the confidence and interpersonal skills to work effectively with colleagues at all levels, combining diplomacy and positive working relationships with appropriate challenge.
You’ll have strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent attention to detail and good IT skills. Experience of databases, CRM systems or similar organisational systems is important, while experience of Raiser’s Edge, the charity sector or a health environment would be an advantage.
Experience of supervising, coaching or supporting another member of staff, apprentice or volunteer would also be valuable.
You’ll enjoy supporting someone early in their career, providing encouragement, clear expectations and constructive feedback to help them build confidence, develop their skills and succeed in their role.
Why Liver UK?
Liver disease and liver cancer are among the UK’s fastest-growing and most under-recognised health challenges. They affect people of all ages, and the need for earlier diagnosis, better treatment, prevention and support has never been greater.
This is an opportunity to join a committed national charity at an important point in its development and to take on a role where strong organisation behind the scenes has a real impact on what the wider charity can achieve.
Please apply through CharityJob with your CV and a covering letter explaining why you are interested in the role and how your experience meets the requirements set out in the Job & Person Specification.
We will review applications and interview suitable candidates as they are received, so we may close the vacancy early. We therefore encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

Job Purpose
As one of our High Support Needs IDVAs, you will be part of our experienced and dedicated adult team reporting to the HSN IDVA Manager covering the Canterbury District area, and your role will include a mixture of working from Catching Lives homeless centre, community and office working.
You’ll be providing a high-quality, frontline service to survivors of domestic abuse and play a crucial role in advocacy, risk assessment, safety planning and empowerment for our clients with more complex needs. You will assist them in recognising the features and dynamics of domestic abuse which are impacting their situation and help them to regain control of their lives. You will support them to make informed and safe choices and to move forward. You will provide a weekly drop-in at Catching Lives and will co-work with clients as appropriate.
Alongside working with survivors, you will develop and maintain productive relationships with partner organisations to strengthen multi-agency working and improve service outcomes for survivors. As the HSN IDVA, you will provide enhanced casework support to individuals within the EHCF client group, delivering support in community settings, in partnership with agencies such as Porchlight and the RSI team, and remotely via telephone where appropriate.
We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for supporting people who is confident, resilient and can build strong relationships.
You will have experience of delivering domestic abuse interventions with survivors, including some whose individual circumstances are more complex. This might include clients with issues such as homelessness, poor mental health or drugs and alcohol use.
The nature of this work and being exposed to survivors’ trauma and challenges can have a negative impact on our own wellbeing as support workers, and therefore good self-awareness and the ability to recognise our own needs and put in place appropriate boundaries is essential. All team members are expected to exercise self-care and attend regular clinical supervision to mitigate the potential impact of vicarious trauma.
As part of our passionate and committed team of approximately 50 staff, our aspiration is that you will thrive and develop in this varied role. You will be contributing to the invaluable work of the Rising Sun and making a lasting difference to the lives of those who are impacted by domestic abuse.

About Us
Forever Young People CIC delivers relationship-led community programmes across Hertfordshire, currently anchored by our community youth projects and our Dot to Dot mum and baby group. We're part of the wider Forever Young People family, which has spent years building trust-based, relationship-first work with young people and families across the county.
