Glaucoma UK is the charity for people with glaucoma. Our vision is to end preventable glaucoma sight loss. We want everyone with glaucoma to be able to live well with the condition, and to make this a reality.

More than 10,000 people took part in our National Patient Voices Survey, creating the most powerful picture yet of what it is like to live with glaucoma and receive glaucoma care across the UK.

Working closely with our Head of Communications and a specialist public affairs agency, you will help bring those findings to life, secure media attention and make decision-makers listen. Central to this will be finding and sensitively supporting people who are willing to share their experiences, cultivating trusted relationships and helping them tell their stories confidently across print, digital and broadcast media.

Alongside this landmark work, you will create engaging content across our magazine, website, email and social media channels, identify opportunities for national coverage and help strengthen and protect Glaucoma UK’s voice and reputation. What you’ll be working on:

Overview
As Director of Fundraising and Development for Plum Village UK, you will provide strategic leadership of the charity’s fundraising at this critical juncture. Building on the successful campaigns that brought our new Being Peace Practice Centre into being, you will lead the development of a sustainable, diversified fundraising operation across donor stewardship, trusts and foundations, regular giving, legacies, and partnerships, to deepen relationships of trust and gratitude with our supporters.

This role is ideal for a fundraising leader, whether from a career fundraising background or another field, who brings strategic capability alongside deep alignment with the Plum Village tradition, where fundraising itself becomes a form of engaged practice in service of mindfulness and community transformation.

Fundraising in the Plum Village tradition is fundamentally relational. It is not a matter of extracting income from a base of supporters, but of deepening the relationships of trust, gratitude and shared purpose with those who make our work possible, in ways that embody the values of the tradition. Done well, fundraising is itself a form of engaged practice. The Director will be expected to lead the function in this spirit.

The role comes with a high level of strategic ownership. An initial fundraising strategy has been developed and shared with trustees, providing a framework of priority channels, governance arrangements and resourcing for the next phase. The new Director will inherit this as a starting frame, and will then be empowered and expected to develop, refine and bring forward a fundraising strategy on their own authority, working closely with the Lead Trustee for Fundraising and presenting proposals to the board as appropriate. The role also carries operational ownership of the fundraising mechanics, including the choice and management of supporting systems, databases and tools.
 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic leadership of fundraising

• Lead PVUK's fundraising strategy, developing and refining the strategic direction, and presenting proposals to the Board for approval and resourcing.

• Set, monitor, and report on fundraising targets across all income channels, in agreement with the Lead Trustee for Fundraising and the Board.

• Provide regular substantive updates on fundraising at quarterly board meetings, working with the Lead Trustee on the preparation of board-level reporting.

• Bring forward analysis and proposals to support the Board in setting wider strategic priorities, including realistic income potential by channel and the investment required to secure it.

• Identify and manage risk in the fundraising portfolio, including channel concentration, donor over-reliance, and the sustainability of resourcing.

Donor stewardship and relationship development

• Lead the stewardship of PVUK’s existing donors, lenders, and supporters with the depth of care that this base deserves, recognising it as the most precious resource of the fundraising function.

• Cultivate and deepen relationships with major donors, including through personal contact, site visits, and tailored communication of impact.

• Work with the Chair of Trustees, the Centre Director, and other senior figures on key relationships that require their involvement.

• Steward the friendly lender base throughout the lifetime of their loans, maintaining trust and keeping them informed of the charity’s progress.

• Build and maintain a culture of gratitude and recognition that appropriately honours the contributions of all supporters.

Income channel development

• Lead delivery and growth across PVUK’s priority fundraising channels: donor stewardship, trust and foundation fundraising, regular giving, legacies and Gifts in Wills, and partnerships with values-aligned organisations and networks.

• Develop trust and foundation fundraising as a substantial new income stream, including scoping aligned funders, building peer-to-peer introductions, constructing tailored funding propositions, and overseeing high-quality application writing and reporting.

• Design and grow a regular giving programme that converts members, retreatants and supporters into ongoing monthly donors.

• Develop a structured legacy and Gifts in Wills programme that normalises legacy giving across PVUK’s communications and supports those who wish to leave a Gift in their Will.

• Develop partnerships with values-aligned organisations and networks where these support both income generation and the wider reach of PVUK’s work, in close consultation with monastics and trustees.

Operations, systems and budget ownership

• Own the operational mechanics of fundraising for PVUK, including the choice, configuration and ongoing management of databases, donor management systems, online giving platforms, and integration with communications tools.

• Manage the fundraising budget, including a discretionary supplementary budget for consultancy, training, materials creation, contracted support and light administrative resource, deployed at the Director’s judgement to develop the function effectively.

• Maintain accurate, GDPR-compliant supporter records and ensure sound data practices throughout the fundraising operation.

• Provide accurate financial reporting on fundraising performance, working with PVUK’s finance function and external accountants as required.

• Make the case for additional resourcing where evidence of need supports it, including the possible recruitment of a Fundraising Officer in due course.

Communications and storytelling

• Lead the development of compelling fundraising narratives that authentically convey the work of PVUK and the Being Peace Centre to multiple audiences, including major donors, institutional funders, individual supporters and the wider public.

• Work closely with the PVUK Communications team on the integration of fundraising communications with the wider communications strategy.

• Commission and oversee the production of fundraising materials, including written content, graphic design, video and digital assets, drawing on contracted specialists where appropriate.

• Ensure that all fundraising messaging about the Being Peace Practice Centre is agreed with the Centre Director before publication.

Working partnerships across PVUK

• Work in close partnership with the Centre Director on all matters relating to Being Peace, with agreed ways of working on messaging, external representation, and any programming commitments made to funders.

• Work with the Lead Trustee for Fundraising as primary day-to-day point of contact at board level, supporting the Lead Trustee to hold strategic oversight of fundraising on behalf of the Board.

• Work with colleagues across PVUK’s communications, dharma programming, sangha-building and partnership functions, with these working relationships developing naturally in the first months of the role.

• Draw on external advisors and specialists as needed for support and assurance, both in technical fundraising disciplines and in sector-specific knowledge.

• Engage volunteer capacity from within the community where this can valuably supplement the fundraising operation.

As we celebrate our 10-year anniversary, Shrewsbury Food Hub is looking for an inclusive, practical and strategically minded Executive Director to lead us through the next phase of our development.

We have a simple vision: a community where food is valued and not wasted.

Founded in 2016, we rescue surplus food seven days a week from local suppliers and redistribute it through charities, community groups, schools and Foodshares. In the year to March 2026 alone, we rescued more than 270 tonnes of food, with our work reaching an estimated 4,000 people every week across Shrewsbury and the surrounding area.

We have also developed a growing programme of community cooking, bringing people together to build skills and confidence, share food and strengthen community – while ensuring that good food does not go to waste.

The opportunity

Shrewsbury Food Hub has grown significantly over the past decade. Our next Executive Director will help us build on that success while strengthening the foundations beneath it.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead an established and much-loved local charity through a period of organisational development: bringing greater clarity, focus, structure and resilience while protecting the energy, relationships and community spirit that make the Hub special.

The Board is committed to focusing increasingly on governance and delegating day-to-day leadership and management to the Executive Director. You will have the authority and responsibility to lead the organisation, work closely with our Senior Leadership Team and create the conditions in which staff and volunteers can perform at their best.

Who are we looking for?

You will bring successful senior leadership experience from a charity, social enterprise, public service or other purpose-led organisation, together with experience of shaping strategy, leading change and turning plans into results.

You will be financially astute, pragmatic and comfortable creating clarity in a busy organisation. Above all, you will be a genuine people leader: emotionally intelligent, approachable and able to build trust across a diverse community of staff, volunteers, trustees, founders and partners.

We don't expect our new Executive Director to be a specialist in everything. You may bring particular depth in operational and organisational leadership or in income generation, fundraising and external development. What matters is that you have credible experience of the other and the leadership ability to bring different expertise together.

Previous Executive Director experience is welcome, but is not essential.

We do this through 1 to 1 key working, group work, including peer group support, promoting a better understanding of mental distress and mental health promotion and illness prevention, signposting and working with other services to promote the equality and diversity agenda.

Key objectives of the post

The new CEO will enthusiastically support and assist the Board of Trustees in carrying out the objectives and fulfilling the Mission Statement of Roshni Ghar, work within and promote the service user led ethos of Roshni Ghar.

They will maintain and develop high-quality services which aim to reduce the emotional and mental distress experienced by ethnic minority women and exceed the current funding levels in order to expand the organisation. Key areas of responsibility

• To have overall responsibility for operational, service and performance management issues.

The CEO will work closely alongside all internal stakeholders of Roshni Ghar to plan, implement and evaluate the organisation’s Business Plan, as well as alongside the Board of Trustees to seek out, develop and evaluate new business opportunities. They will seek out and acquire new fundraising opportunities and, equally, to promote our services citywide.

This role will also improve and develop effective relationships with partner organisations, establish and develop profitable relationships and partnerships with funders, community mental health teams, and the wider voluntary sector and actively endorse and positively promote Roshni Ghar across all aspects of the media.

Management responsibilities will include ensuring financial sustainability and growth of the organisation and ensuring that Roshni Ghar continues to meet the high standards set by Funders. The CEO will be responsible for all activities relating to human resources and work alongside the Board of Trustees to develop and implement all organisational policies and procedures. They will also actively ensure that all feedback procedures and communications are operating effectively and perform any other tasks as identified by the Trustees, and commensurate with the grade of this position.

The successful candidate will have a relevant professional qualification, proven experience in leadership and developmental management in one or more organisations, experience of managing Budgets, Risk, Quality and safety as well as experience of leading outcomes-based management processes. They will be able to speak Urdu, Punjabi or Bangla , will have worked in a mental health setting with ethnic minority women and will be familiar with changing statutory care funding requirements and the social, medical and public health models of mental health.

Essential skills and abilities for this position include resilience, high level interpersonal and relationship building, communication and presentation skills, financial scrutiny, people management skills, interpersonal and relationship building skills alongside data analysis, reporting and data use.

As the Administration, Governance & Facilities Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the effective operation of the Joseph Levy Foundation. Working closely with the Executive Director, you will provide high-quality administrative, governance and facilities support, ensuring the Foundation operates efficiently and meets its governance and operational responsibilities.

This is a varied and hands-on role in a small, values-led organisation, offering the opportunity to work across board and committee administration, governance support, office and facilities management, organisational administration and stakeholder coordination. You will act as the primary point of contact for governance administration, supporting Trustees and the Executive Director by coordinating meetings, preparing board papers, producing accurate minutes and maintaining governance records.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is a member of the School’s Senior Leadership Team and takes lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection across the institution, supported by a safeguarding team comprised of two Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads, and four counselors. The role holder ensures that safeguarding is embedded into all aspects of school culture, leads on multi-agency collaboration, manages child protection referrals, and provides strategicguidance to colleagues, trustees, and external agencies. The DSL has management oversight of a Safeguarding Administrative Assistant and the School Nursing team.

Summary of major responsibilities

Managing Referrals & Multi-Agency Working

• Act as the primary point of contact for local authority children’s social care, local safeguarding partners, and police (where the case leads to safeguarding/child protection

• Refer cases of suspected abuse, neglect, or harm immediately to Children’s Social Care, the Local Authority Designated Officer, Channel/Prevent, or the police,  where required

• Lead and support early help assessments for children who require additional support before reaching statutory intervention thresholds

• Attend and contribute actively to child protection conferences, core groups, and multi-agency risk assessment conferences

Information Sharing and Record Keeping

• Maintain confidential, accurate, detailed, and up-to-date child protection records (separate from academic records), adhering to data protection (GDPR/Data Protection Act) standards

• Securely transfer child protection files to new educational settings when a student transfers, confirming receipt and ensuring seamless continuity of care

• In partnership with the Board of Trustees, monitor safeguarding trends within the school to inform local risk assessments and policy development

• Assist the Human Resources Department with maintaining a compliant, accurate and continuously updated Single Central Record, advising on and signing pre-employment risk assessments where required and permissible

• Serve as the School’s Attendance Champion, works in partnership with the divisional attendance officers, monitoring and reporting attendance concerns to the local authority

Raising Awareness and Staff Guidance

• Ensure the school’s Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy is updated annually, publicly accessible, and aligned with statutory DfE guidance.

• Ensure all staff (including temporary and supply staff) receive safeguarding induction training and understand their duty to report concerns immediately

• Provide regular safeguarding updates, refresher training, and Level 2 training for employees and supply staff as appropriate, as well as arranging Level 3 training for the appropriate roleholders

• Promote a child-centric environment where children feel heard, respected, and safe to disclose concerns

• Chair weekly meetings with divisional safeguarding teams, discussing safeguarding cases and advising on appropriate next steps

• Monitor and approve tutoring and enrichment arrangements 

Training and Professional Development 

• Complete formal DSL training at least every two years to maintain expertise in safeguarding policy, local multi-agency procedures, and legal updates

• Update knowledge and skills regularly (at least annually) on emerging safeguarding issues, including online safety, peer-on-peer/child-on-child abuse, exploitation (CCE/CSE), radicalisation, domestic abuse, and filtering/monitoring systems

Online Safety, Filtering and Monitoring

• Oversee the online safety policy and collaborate with TILM leadership to ensure effective filtering and monitoring infrastructure

• Manage concerns relating to student cyberbullying, online harassment, cybercrime (e.g., Cyber Choices programme), and digital safety breaches

Working With Senior Leadership and Trustees

• Meet regularly with the Head of School and the Designated Safeguarding Trustees to report on safeguarding activity, staff training, and policy compliance

• Prepare a biannual safeguarding report, supported by contemporaneous data and evidence, to be presented to the Board of Trustees

Essential qualifications/experience

• Substantial experience working directly with children and young people in an educational or social care setting

• Certified Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) training (or willingness to complete prior to start date)

• Comprehensive working knowledge of KCSIE, Working Together to Safeguard Children, EYFS statutory framework, data protection laws, and local multi-agency thresholds

Our new Head of Education (HoE) will provide strategic direction to, and oversight for, all activities within our Education Department, including age 5 – 18 education and Higher Education. • Working alongside the Chair of the Education Committee, attend and support the Education Team with providing secretariat for the Society’s Education Committee, reporting into our External Relations Committee.
• Working with the Head of Policy and Communications to carry out research with Fellows, partner organisations, and other stakeholders to contribute to education policy activity such as consultation responses, briefings, and public statements.
• Working alongside the ‘This is Geoscience’ project team, lead the project management of deliverables and outcomes to ensure the project meets its aims and objectives across the next two years.

Other responsibilities and expectations …

• Attend external training and personal development events to keep abreast of developments in education across the Earth science sector and ahead of changes in relevant policies or legislation.
• Arrange and participate in meetings, conferences, and project team activities where appropriate
• To ensure that positive working relationships are maintained with other departments at the Society
• Undertake other tasks consistent with the role as reasonably required

What we’re looking for …

Essential

• Experience of working in formal or informal education role(s)
• Demonstrable knowledge of the UK education system, ages 5-18
• Science communication experience
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• First Degree in Geoscience, Education, or a related subject
• Line-management experience, preferably including a track record of coaching, mentoring, and professional development
• Project management experience
• Experience of promoting activities and organising events
• Experience in setting and managing budgets

Desirable

• Demonstrable knowledge of the UK higher education sector
• Experience making education initiatives accessible for those with SEND and reducing barriers to participation
• Demonstrable knowledge of international education systems with respect to geoscience
• Experience of developing and delivering training
• Experience of working with external partners to deliver successful outcomes
• Experience of impact assessment and performance tracking
• Outreach and/or public engagement experience

The role may require some travel in the UK, and occasional weekend and evening working. Where required, by prior agreement, this will be compensated through time off in lieu (TOIL).
