PURPOSE OF POSITION

This role is responsible for delivering a high-quality, trauma-informed and gender-informed support service for women living in the Complex Needs service. The post-holder will hold a caseload of women residents who may be experiencing multiple disadvantage, including homelessness, rough sleeping, domestic abuse, mental ill health, substance use, exploitation, offending histories, social isolation and complex trauma.

The Women’s Support Worker will provide persistent, compassionate and practical support to women who may find it difficult to trust services, sustain engagement or accept support consistently. The role requires someone who can build safe, respectful relationships at the woman’s pace, while maintaining clear professional boundaries and supporting women to stabilise, feel safer, reduce risk and work towards their own goals.

The post-holder will work as part of the wider frontline support team, leading on support planning, advocacy and multi-disciplinary working for women residents. They will also support colleagues’ day to day to apply gender-informed practice, strengthen engagement with women and ensure support is coordinated, responsive and centred on women’s safety, choice and wellbeing.

This role forms part of a seven-day rota and will include some evening and weekend working.

RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Deliver safe, consistent and high-quality support to women living in the Complex Needs service.

• Hold and manage a caseload of women residents, ensuring support plans, risk assessments and safety plans are clear, current and outcome focused.

• Lead on casework, advocacy, support planning and reviews, ensuring agreed actions are followed through and progress is recorded.

• Build trusting, persistent and professional relationships with women who may be difficult to engage, distrustful of services or reluctant to accept support.

• Use trauma-informed, gender-informed, strengths-based and motivational approaches to assess needs, plan support and promote positive change.

• Assess, monitor and respond to safeguarding concerns, risk, incidents, non-engagement and changes in presentation, escalating concerns appropriately.

• Coordinate multi-agency support with health, mental health, substance misuse, domestic abuse, criminal justice, adult social care, housing, police and specialist women’s services.

• Lead or contribute to MDT meetings and case discussions, ensuring clear actions, accountability and follow-up to reduce risk and improve outcomes.

• Promote women’s safety, recognising risks linked to trauma, exploitation, coercion, abuse, unsafe relationships, rough sleeping and homelessness.

• Support women to access healthcare, benefits, mental health support, substance misuse services, advocacy, legal advice, education, training and meaningful activity.

• Support the wider frontline team to apply gender-informed approaches in day-to-day casework, engagement, risk management and safeguarding practice.

• Respond to referrals, ensuring eligibility, risks and support needs are clearly understood and recorded.

• Maintain accurate, timely and high-quality records of casework, support activity, safeguarding actions, risk, outcomes and multi-agency communication.

• Work within Your Place policies and procedures, including safeguarding, equality and diversity, data protection, health and safety and professional boundaries.

• Contribute to reflective practice, team learning and service improvement within a Psychologically Informed Environment.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

The requirements below set out the experience, knowledge and personal qualities needed for this role. We welcome candidates with relevant direct experience, education, training or lived understanding of the issues affecting women with complex needs.

Experience, education and knowledge

• Experience of supporting women or adults experiencing multiple disadvantage, complex needs, homelessness, rough sleeping, trauma, domestic abuse, mental ill health, substance use, exploitation or social exclusion.

• Relevant education, training or qualification in women’s support, trauma-informed practice, safeguarding, domestic abuse, mental health, substance use, social care, psychology, criminology, housing, homelessness or a related field.

• Experience of building trust with people who may be difficult to engage, inconsistent in contact, distrustful of services or reluctant to accept support.

• Experience of holding or contributing to a caseload, completing support plans, risk assessments, safety plans, reviews and case notes.

• Understanding of safeguarding, risk management, professional boundaries, confidentiality, equality and diversity, and data protection.

• Awareness of multi-agency working and the role of health, mental health, substance misuse, domestic abuse, criminal justice, adult social care, housing and specialist women’s services.

Skills and abilities

Job Purpose: 

Working in Wakefield and Calderdale you will build trusted relationships with Leeds GATE members, residents and families living on the Heath Common local authority site (Wakefield), yards, houses and roadside across the Wakefield district and Calderdale Borough.

A Support Worker will help to enable vulnerable people with complex support needs to manage their licences and move towards greater independence within the community by providing a flexible and individually tailored support package.

In this unique and rewarding role, you'll be the welcoming face of Stella Maris in your region, visiting ships, listening to crew members, and offering practical, pastoral and spiritual support to anyone in need, regardless of faith or background.

About the role

No two days are the same.  You might spend the morning visiting ships and listening to crew members' stories, help someone contact their family back home, support a seafarer in crisis, or offer a quiet moment of prayer on deck.

You'll also recruit and support a team of volunteers, work closely with other maritime charities and local partners, and build strong relationships with parishes, dioceses, and port authorities.  You'll be part of a nationwide network of Stella Maris chaplains, supported through regular meetings, retreats and professional development opportunities.

• Visit ships regularly to meet seafarers and fishers, responding to their pastoral, practical and spiritual needs.

About the Service

The Complex Needs Housing Service works as a multi-disciplinary team with housing teams and Drug and Alcohol Services across District and Borough councils. These teams will be working with individuals who are presenting as homeless and have a number of Complex Needs. The service has been running since 2022 with a dual-district model, however, is now expanding to offer a single district outreach service.

We have roles available in the service in the following areas:

• St. Albans – supporting individuals who are homeless, in temporary accommodation or hostels in the district with their mental health
• South & West Hertfordshire – supporting women who have fled domestic abuse and currently residing in refuge/safe accommodation in the area with their mental health N.B. Only female applicants will be considered for this role.

The objectives of the Single Homeless Support Pathway are:

• To improve the mental wellbeing of people experiencing mental ill health.
• To increase early access to help for people experiencing mental ill health in, by providing a clear and effective pathway to services provided by Herts Mind Network and other third sector and statutory providers.
• To contribute to an improvement in individual mental wellbeing.
• To remain a source of independent support for all clients.
• To reduce the use of police, ASB, tenancy enforcement, housing needs and environmental health services by clients whose primary need is related to mental ill health.
• To reduce the use of crisis services by people experiencing mental ill health without positive outcomes for the individual.
• To provide an assertive outreach approach for clients who are in crisis and/ or those that may have complex or multiple needs.
• To work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team consisting of District and Borough council’s housing teams, drug and alcohol services and other professionals.

About the Role

The purpose of the Hertfordshire Mind Network Community Outreach Worker role is to:

• To provide advice, information, onward referral and holistic support to clients who are experiencing mental ill health or need support with their mental wellbeing. These will be clients who are presenting to District and Borough councils as homeless and need intervention and support with their mental health and housing.
• To ensure that the safety and wellbeing of the client is monitored and reviewed regularly.
• To remain a source of independent support for all clients.
• Embed a person-centred recovery orientated and trauma informed approach in all aspects of the roles.

Harrogate Homeless Project (HHP) is looking for two compassionate and motivated Weekend Support Workers to join our dedicated Client Services Team. This is an opportunity to play a key role in supporting people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity across the Harrogate district.

We have two part-time positions available (14 hours per week):

• 7.30am to 2.30pm, Saturdays and Sundays
• 1.30pm to 8.00pm, Saturdays and Sundays

Salary: £12.71 per hour, rising to £13.45 per hour upon successful completion of probation. Additional hours may be available to cover annual leave, sickness and on-call duties.

As a Support Worker, you will help create a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for clients living within our hostel accommodation, Springboard services and flats. You will provide practical and emotional support, assist new residents with inductions, maintain accurate records, carry out health and safety checks, and work closely with colleagues, volunteers and partner agencies to help clients move towards greater independence.

We’re looking for someone with excellent communication and organisational skills, a positive and proactive attitude, and the ability to build trusting relationships with people from a range of backgrounds. A Typical Night in the Role 
 
Your shift will start with a handover from the day team before you prepare for the night ahead. You’ll carry out building checks to make sure the environment is safe, address tenancy issues like smoking or noise, and be available to respond to any emergencies. You may host activities like a film night to build community spirit, but you’ll also be prepared to de-escalate challenging situations, offer emotional support, and ensure all residents feel safe.

• Professional experience of supporting people with complex needs, including homelessness, mental health, high-risk or high-harm behaviours, or high vulnerability.
• Experience of working with young people who display challenging behaviour or conflict, while remaining approachable, engaging effectively, providing constructive support, and maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
• Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and trauma-informed care.
• Good IT skills, demonstrable experience of managing a complex caseload, strong report writing skills, and effective time management.

We’re looking for an experienced and compassionate Senior Support Worker to join our Stopover Supported Housing service in Brighton & Hove.

Stopover provides women-only supported accommodation for young women aged 16–25, including young women who have recently become mothers. Our services provide different levels of support as young women move towards independence, helping them develop the skills, confidence and stability they need to sustain their own tenancy.

Working alongside the Head of Supported Housing, you’ll help oversee the day-to-day running of the project while providing trauma-informed support to young women who may have experienced homelessness, abuse, domestic violence, mental health difficulties and other challenges.

This is a varied senior role combining direct work with young women, staff supervision and partnership working. You’ll build trusted professional relationships, advocate for young women and help ensure our service provides safe, consistent and high-quality support.

You will:

• Build positive professional relationships with young women, developing individual support plans and helping them gain the skills and confidence to live independently
• Help oversee the day-to-day running of the service, including managing resident issues, risk and compliance with licence agreements
• Provide line management, supervision and development support to members of the staff team
• Advocate for young women and work collaboratively with external agencies and other professionals
• Help ensure the service operates safely and effectively in line with organisational policies, funder requirements and contractual agreements

We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate:

• Experience of working with young women or young people and a strong understanding of their support needs

Main Purpose Of The Job:

Our Step provision service provides two differing support models that offer accommodation-based support and assessment This is for people who are being discharged from the hospital using the discharge to assess model. The Step-Down provision in Oxfordshire is run in partnership between Homeless Oxfordshire and Connection Support. The Step-Up service provides accommodation-based support which acts on a model to prevent people having the need to go into hospital. Working as part of a small dynamic and enthusiastic team to deliver a safe and supportive service to all residents, identifying need and delivering the case management of clients with complex needs working in partnership with other agencies to create holistic, individualized support and move on plans for clients who are temporarily housed due to their health needs.

Main Areas of Responsibility:

• To be part of a team running a new and dynamic service assessing and managing risk for individuals and in the service.
• Ensure the effective delivery of high-quality care, support and housing management according to Homeless Oxfordshire policies and procedures.
• To work in partnership with other agencies to ensure the delivery of holistic wrap around support.
• To work in partnership with Connection Support Step provision and Out of Hospital Team.
• To work with other agencies to provide client centered support & risk management plans for clients with complex needs to identify work towards a suitable move on option within 6 weeks.
