We have a unique opportunity to accelerate your career in Social Impact Investment through Better Society Capital’s Investment Associate Development Programme. Whilst playing a key role as part of a dynamic and supportive team, you will develop your impact investment management skills, knowledge of social issues and your strategic and design thinking in order to help solve some of the UK’s most entrenched social issues.

What you will do:
Help us make and manage investments through research and analysis, including:

Undertaking research and detailed analysis to help us understand social issues and market gaps where social impact investment can help support a solution, within our market systems (social property, social lending, impact venture and social outcomes); synthesize and present these; and monitor relevant market data and update the team on relevant developments in the market systems, for example related to the issues, asset classes and policy areas.

Undertaking supplementary analysis of performance, benchmarks and other research that helps enhance our understanding of performance of the portfolio.
Support prospective investments through our investment process across our market systems, including:

Undertaking detailed investment analysis, including of the market, the prospective investee, and the financial, social impact and systems change cases;

Assisting in preparing and presenting investment recommendations to our Investment Committee;

Project management such as ensuring the consistent application of our investment process and the tracking of new investment opportunities in the pipeline; and,

Helping deal leads and legal team negotiate legal documents and close transactions.
This will likely involve specialising in one market system for a period of time.
Support management of our existing portfolio investments, including:

Supporting and co-ordinating fund manager reporting of that helps BSC to assess the contribution of the investments to our systems change, impact and financial goals across our portfolio and in the relevant market system

Undertaking data gathering, aggregation and detailed analysis to evaluate impact and financial performance across portfolios of investments in our market systems, including working with fund managers on individual investments
Systems change agent

Supporting delivery of key strategic projects in BSC’s market systems, including through project management

Supporting our engagement work with investors and with charities and social enterprises to deliver on our market system goals, for example helping to co-ordinate networks and events in partnership with Investment Networks and Engagement teams .

Location: We are a UK-based business with an office in the Old Street area of London, accessible via a number of public transport links. About the role
The Climate and Resilience Expert is a specialist role that will contribute to strengthening and expanding Practical Action’s Climate and Resilience portfolio, with a primary focus on Early Warning Systems and Early Action. The postholder will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of our EWS/EWEA work, providing high‑quality technical expertise, thought leadership and sector engagement to enhance the impact of our programmes, partnerships, and consultancy services.
This role will support the delivery of ongoing workplans for key EWS/EWEA initiatives, including maternity cover responsibilities for priority projects. Approximately 50% of the postholder’s time will focus on coordinating delivery of the EWS Thematic Lead work under the Zurich Climate Resilience Alliance, ensuring continuity, effective collaboration, and high technical standards across research, programme design, partnership development, and influencing activities.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical knowledge of early warning systems and early action, experience working in climate resilience in low‑ and middle‑income contexts, and the ability to collaborate effectively with global teams, partners, and external stakeholders to advance Practical Action’s mission of putting ingenious ideas to work for a world that works better for everyone.

The groups centre on improving the emotional wellbeing and mental health of refugees and asylum seekers, providing these individuals with a safe space to discuss their concerns, providing coping strategies and practical support where required and to help these individuals engage with diverse creative activities and develop their confidence and self-esteem whilst helping them integrate into Hertfordshire and the UK.
About the Role
This role is to promote and facilitate our Flourish support groups. Flourish is our service providing mental health support to asylum seekers and refugees in Hertfordshire through assertive outreach support and providing wellbeing drop-in groups.
Key Responsibilities:
- The purpose of this post is to promote and facilitate our Flourish peer support groups.
- To play an integral role in instilling HMN’s values through the Flourish refugee and asylum seeker service.
- Promoting and facilitating the Flourish groups
- To work as a team.

- Planning and preparing for each weekly session, establishing the session aims, materials required and anticipated outcomes for people attending.

Club operations & coordination: Coordinate weekly swim sessions across your allocated clubs, making sure sessions run smoothly. Regularly visit clubs to get to know volunteers and swimmers, understand how sessions are running, and identify any issues or opportunities.

Deliver outreach activity to maintain a steady flow of new swimmers into clubs and waiting lists. Support the setup and launch of new WeSwim clubs by building local awareness and supporting swimmer recruitment, working closely with the wider team.

Volunteer engagement & club presence: Build strong relationships with volunteers, ensuring they feel welcomed, valued and supported. Support volunteer with regular communications and work closely with the wider team to improve volunteer experience.

Systems & administration: Maintain accurate club records including membership data and attendance logs. Monitor attendance and impact data to support reporting. Use and improve systems and processes to support efficient coordination and growth.

Create simple accessible resources that support people to take part and contribute. Be the main point of contact for people who want to get more involved in WeSwim.

About the role
This is a varied, entry-level role offering hands-on experience across programme delivery, fundraising, communications and administration.
