About the role
RAID has 4 main advice areas: Information Navigation, Benefits Advice, Energy Advice and Money Advice. The Cost of Living Crisis has disproportionally impacted Disabled people, who are more likely to face higher living costs, barriers to employment and reduced financial resilience, making it harder to cope with rising household expenses. Many of the people we see are in challenging situations; struggling with debt, experiencing food and fuel poverty, facing homeless and dealing with loneliness and isolation. The work can be emotionally challenging.
The Money Advisor will provide high-quality, accessible and person-centred money advice to Disabled people and people with long-term health conditions, supporting them to understand their financial situation, maximise their income, manage financial pressures and exercise their rights.
The Money Advisor will be required to undertake training to again gain accreditation from the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS), as part of their Quality Framework for Individuals, and will be expected to retain this qualification through continual professional development. Free training will be provided through the Wiser Adviser platform.
The Money Advisor will provide practical advice and support on a range of financial issues, budgeting, debt, household costs and financial inclusion. You will work closely with our Welfare Benefits team and undertake casework yourself as required to resolve issues. The role will recognise the barriers created by social, economic and environmental factors and work alongside people to identify solutions that increase financial security, choice and independence.
The postholder will work within RAID's rights-based and Social Model of Disability approach, ensuring that Disabled people are listened to, treated with dignity and supported to make informed decisions about their lives.
About You
You are a knowledgeable, approachable and compassionate adviser who is passionate about helping Disabled people improve their financial security and exercise their rights.
You will have experience of providing money, welfare benefits or related advice and be confident supporting people to navigate what can sometimes be complex financial and benefits systems. You will be able to explain information clearly and in an accessible way, helping people understand their options and make informed decisions.
You will take a person-centred and rights-based approach, recognising that Disabled people can experience significant financial barriers, including additional costs associated with disability, inaccessible services, discrimination and barriers to employment and income. You will understand the importance of listening to people and working alongside them rather than making assumptions about what they need.
You will be comfortable supporting people with a range of circumstances and levels of support needs. You will be patient, non-judgemental and able to build trust with people who may have had difficult experiences when accessing services.
You will be organised and able to manage your own caseload, prioritise effectively and maintain accurate records. You will also enjoy working collaboratively with colleagues and external organisations to find practical solutions and achieve positive outcomes for the people we support.
You do not need to be an accredited money advisor to apply but you must successfully complete the required training and be able to demonstrate an interest and aptitude for money advice.
To apply
To apply for this role, please send your CV and a covering letter of up to 2 sides of A4 stating how you meet the Essential and Desirable criteria in Experience and Knowledge section of the Job description.
We will not consider applicants that do include a cover letter. We are receiving an increasing number of cover letters written by AI that are exact replicas and these will be not be considered as suitable cover letters. Please ensure you tailor your cover letter to the Job Description and your experience.

We are an equal opportunities employer and particularly welcome applications from Disabled candidates. We have been awarded the Disability Confident Employer quality mark, meaning any Disabled candidates
RAID will empower disabled people to achieve greater independence and choice by providing a range of services and support.

About Kinship
We are Kinship. The leading kinship care charity.
We're here for kinship carers - friends or family who step up to raise a child when their parents aren't able to.
We support kinship families across England and Wales and are expanding our work into Scotland.
Let's commit to change for kinship families.
Purpose of the role:
The Kinship Navigator provides intensive, time-limited support to kinship carers through the Kinship Connected programme, a structured six-month intervention designed to help kinship families stabilise placements and access the support they need.
Working directly with kinship carers in West Dunbartonshire, you will build trusting relationships while completing structured assessments, goal setting and reviews to help families strengthen their support networks and navigate services such as children’s social care, education, health and community support.
This is a community-facing role, working from Y Sort It’s offices and directly in kinship carers’ homes and community spaces. You will work alongside Y Sort It’s Intandem mentors to ensure that both carers and the children they care for receive coordinated, complementary support.
Accurate recording of your work is essential to enable Kinship and Inspiring Scotland to understand what is working, demonstrate impact and learn from this pioneering pilot.
Direct support
You will provide intensive one-to-one support to kinship carers for up to six months, working within the delivery approach set out in the Kinship Connected Service Manual. You will also establish and facilitate a monthly support group for kinship carers in West Dunbartonshire.
This may include:

- Completing structured needs assessments, SMART goal setting and regular reviews with kinship carers.
- Advocating for kinship carers in meetings with professionals where appropriate.
- Establishing and facilitating a monthly support group for kinship carers in the local area.
- Mapping local services and building relationships with organisations that can provide specialist support, training or activities for kinship families in West Dunbartonshire.
- Liaising with schools, local authorities and other professionals to coordinate support around families.
- Supporting kinship carers with challenges relating to the child(ren) in their kinship care.
- Signposting to relevant services, support organisations and Kinship training opportunities.
- Referring children in kinship care to Y Sort It’s Intandem mentoring programme where appropriate.
- Coordinating celebration and family events (including in Kinship Care Week).
- Supporting applications for grants for essential items or family breaks.
Partnership working with Y Sort It and Inspiring Scotland
- Work closely and collaboratively with Y Sort It colleagues on a day-to-day basis, building a strong co-location relationship that benefits kinship families.
- Develop and maintain clear cross-referral pathways between Kinship Connected and Y Sort It’s Intandem mentoring programme.
- Contribute to joint learning and shared reflection about how the whole-family model is working and what outcomes are being achieved for both carers and children.
- Represent Kinship professionally in all interactions with Y Sort It, Inspiring Scotland and other local partners.
- Participate in any joint reporting, learning or evaluation activities required by Inspiring Scotland.
Collaboration and wider partnership working
- Build constructive relationships with West Dunbartonshire Council and other statutory and voluntary sector partners to support awareness of the programme and effective referral pathways.
- Work closely with colleagues across Kinship, including Peer Support, Training and Communications, to ensure kinship carers in West Dunbartonshire can access the full range of Kinship’s support.
- Contribute to cross-team learning, sharing emerging insights about kinship carers’ experiences and the local landscape in Scotland to inform Kinship’s broader organisational learning.
- Represent Kinship at local meetings, networks or events to strengthen collaboration and raise awareness of kinship care in Scotland.
Safeguarding and risk management
Kinship has a robust safeguarding structure. You will be supported by a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Designated Deputy Safeguarding Leads (DDSL). In line with this policy, and mindful of the Scottish legislative and practice context, you will:
- Recognise, report, record, respond and refer safeguarding risks via our safeguarding process with the support of the safeguarding team.

- Complete risk assessments for events in line with Kinship’s policy.
- Follow the Kinship Health and Safety policy.
- Use the StaySafe lone worker app.

As Kinship Connected in West Dunbartonshire is a pilot programme, high-quality records and documentation are essential to demonstrate impact to Inspiring Scotland and to generate the learning that will inform future development of Kinship’s work in Scotland.
- Maintain accurate, timely records of all activity, assessments, support plans, contacts and outcomes on Kinship’s CRM system (Salesforce) in line with organisational policy and programme protocols.
- Complete kinship carer needs assessments, SMART goal setting, reviews and outcome recording in accordance with the Kinship Navigator model.
- Contribute to monitoring and reporting requirements for Inspiring Scotland, ensuring activity and outcomes are documented consistently.
- Fully contribute to quality assurance and learning processes, including collecting feedback and case studies that demonstrate impact for kinship families.
- Contribute to the learning about how co-location with Y Sort It supports whole-family outcomes

About School of Hard Knocks
School of Hard Knocks (SOHK) is one of the UK’s leading education charities, working in 29 secondary schools across England, Scotland, and Wales. Using rugby as a key delivery tool, we support young people who are struggling to engage in early secondary education - often because of anxiety, low confidence, disrupted home lives, or behavioural challenges rooted in trauma. For many of the children we support, life has already brought more hardship than most adults experience in a lifetime. Our purpose is clear: to help young people facing complex challenges break the cycle and move towards a safer, stronger, more hopeful future.
The SOHK Schools Programme is a two-year intervention working with cohorts of around 20 pupils from Year 7 through to Year 9. Pupils are selected by the school and are typically among the hardest to reach young people. Each week, we deliver half a day of rugby training and classroom sessions built around our 3Cs framework, covering topics such as growth mindset, goal setting, and decision-making, alongside monthly one-to-one sessions with every pupil. The programme’s impact is evaluated by SOHK staff, teachers, parents, and the pupils themselves.
90% of our participants report feeling more confident and more engaged with school after taking part, with long-term effects on attendance, attainment, and life outcomes. Find out more about our Schools Programme.
Since 2023, SOHK has been proud to partner with Impetus, a charity that invests in and supports organisations helping young people from disadvantaged backgrounds succeed. This partnership combines investment with strategic and organisational development support, helping to strengthen our impact and set SOHK up for sustainable growth.
We are proud to be delivering long-term programmes that meaningfully reach hundreds of young people each year - but the societal need is vast. Our ambitious four-year strategic plan targets growth, aiming to bring our impactful programme to hundreds more young people each year.
“Despite the usual challenges that every education or sport for development charity faces, School of Hard Knocks really is unique. It is not so much what we deliver at a programme level (which is of course brilliant) but who we are as a team. If you are a values-led leader and love the idea of ‘team’, then School of Hard Knocks is the place for you.”
- Ken Cowen, Founder and outgoing CEO

An exceptional leadership opportunity to play a significant role in the success of one of the biggest fundraising and engagement campaigns in the higher education sector in Europe.
UCL is a radically different university. Founded in 1826 in the heart of London, we were the first university in England to welcome students of any religion and the first to welcome women on equal terms with men. Today, UCL has over 51,000 students, 14,000 staff and over 470,000 alumni, and is one of the world’s top 10 universities.
We will launch our largest ever fundraising and engagement campaign that will leverage the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that our bicentennial anniversary in 2026 presents. Since our last campaign, we have increased our ambitions and are building further capacity and expertise across our Advancement division. As part of this step-change, we have re-imagined our Principal Gifts & International team and are now seeking an experienced practitioner to drive this area forward. There has never been a more exciting time to join the Advancement office.
As the Director of Principal Giving & International, you will lead a newly combined team that cultivates meaningful relationships with donors and prospective supporters who have the potential to transform the future and impact of UCL. Your approachable and collaborative manner, along with your ability to work at pace and with gravitas, inspires confidence from those around you. Being enterprising and solutions-focussed, people enjoy working with you and actively seek you out as a thought partner. You must be equally comfortable in playing a front-facing role, as well as operating behind the scenes and supporting others in making the ask, as it’s the transformational outcomes and impact that truly drives you.

Our people really are our greatest asset, and we invest in them so that they can fulfil their potential. We exist to defend the right to a safe home. Because home is everything.
We need ambitious, passionate people to join us. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve.
Our enemy is the social injustice at the core of the escalating housing emergency. To win this fight, we must be representative of the people we are here to help and those who support our movement. In all our people decisions, we take pride in being inclusive, equitable and transparent. We are committed to combating racism both within and outside Shelter. We welcome you on our journey to becoming truly anti-racist.
