The Sports Development Officer role develops, leads and coordinates sports activity programmes that increase participation and use sport to improve health, reduce crime and build social inclusion - working to the Selby Trust’s ‘Selby Active Sports Strategy’.
In this role you will:

Grow and diversify Selby Active's sports portfolio while sustaining existing relationships (i.e. charities, the NHS, local authorities (Haringey Council and Enfield Council), funders (Including Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, England and Wales Cricket Board and Middlesex in the Community), schools and colleges and sport national governing bodies (NGBs).

Focus delivery on under-represented groups — young people, women, older and disabled people, and ethnically diverse communities

Address issues of health, crime, and social inclusion
The role requires flexible work, including some evenings and weekends, to achieve the best possible outcome within available resources.
Principal accountabilities
-
Recruit, supervise, train and manage Selby Active coaches, staff, volunteers and instructors, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
-
Lead project coordination, planning, ongoing development and budget management, setting high-quality standards; work with the Partnerships and Funding Manager on sports bids.
-
Identify sport, recreation and health initiatives, overseeing strategic planning and implementation.
-
Coordinate, deliver and promote activities, classes and events - particularly for under-represented groups - working with internal colleagues and Haringey and Enfield Councils to develop a varied programme for the new Selby Centre.

Engage informal and registered sports groups, especially those in our community, ensuring they are aware of the activities available to them.

Represent Selby Trust and build effective relationships with sports users, volunteers, local sports groups, local authorities and awarding/professional bodies, including at local, regional and national meetings, seminars and conferences.

Lead engagement with sports partners and proactively reach out to local clubs, delivering against KPIs and drawing on their collective expertise.

Support capacity-building for small sports organisations, including identifying organisations for Selby's GLA-supported business support programme.

Organising workshops, accredited courses and mentoring programmes.

Monitor and evaluate our on-site activities and services, interpreting data to produce high-quality reports and presentations for funders and stakeholders (including the Board of Trustees and local authorities).

Identify, apply for and provide information on sports grants and sponsorship, working with the Partnerships and Funding Manager.

Co-lead the capture of stories, case studies and content for Selby Trust's digital channels.

Work with Pre- and Post-16 initiatives to encourage sports participation and parental involvement.

Check venues and manage facilities.

Develop a community membership scheme.

A relevant qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience in sports development, coaching or community engagement

We collaborate and innovate in social care to improve the lives of adults and children, working with a wide range of partners and people



We are seeking people with personal experience of hearing voices, or having experiences or beliefs that others do not, to co-facilitate a new Hearing Voices Group in Southwark. Working within the principles of the Hearing Voices Network Groups Charter, Co-Facilitators will help create a safe, inclusive and trauma-informed peer support space where participants can explore their experiences without judgement and on their own terms. Our intention is to recruit two sessional workers to support the groups on alternating weeks, and a third to cover occasional groups for leave.
Key responsibilities include facilitating group discussions, encouraging mutual respect and equal participation, supporting a non-pathologising approach to hearing voices and unusual experiences, and, where appropriate, drawing on lived experience to foster connection, hope and mutual support. Co-Facilitators will work collaboratively with fellow facilitators to ensure the group remains welcoming, supportive and responsive to participants' needs.
Experience facilitating groups is not essential as sessional workers will receive support and training. They will need to be available for three days of training by an expert facilitator, currently scheduled for 2nd, 9th and 23rd Oct.
The group is due to be weekly on Tuesday evenings at Walworth Living Room, starting from November.

About the Role:
The Level 2 IAA Adviser will provide high-quality, regulated immigration advice within a charity setting, supporting refugees, asylum seekers, migrants and other people facing immigration-related barriers. The postholder will manage a varied caseload within their authorised Immigration Advice Authority level and category, deliver accessible and compassionate advice, prepare applications and representations, and help clients understand their rights, options and next steps. The role will contribute to the charity’s mission to promote dignity, inclusion and access to justice for people who may be vulnerable, marginalised or unable to afford private legal advice.
Essential Criteria:
- Provide IAA-immigration advice within the permitted scope of Level 2.
- Conduct sensitive and thorough client interviews, identify immigration issues, assess eligibility, and agree practical case strategies with clients.
- Prepare and submit immigration applications, write representations and submit supporting evidence.
- Draft clear advice letters that are accessible to clients.
- Support clients to understand Home Office processes, evidence requirements, deadlines, rights and responsibilities.
- Identify when matters fall outside Level 2 competence or the charity’s remit and make timely referrals.
- Maintain accurate, confidential and up-to-date case records in line with charity policies, data protection requirements, funder requirements and regulatory standards.
- Work sensitively with clients who may have experienced trauma, destitution and exploitation.
- Contribute to outreach, drop-in advice sessions, workshops or community-based advice activity where required.
- Build positive working relationships with partner organisations, community groups and local authorities.
- Keep up to date with immigration law, Home Office policy, IAA professional standards and relevant charity sector practice through continuing professional development.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience supporting refugees, asylum seekers, migrants or people with complex support needs.
- Knowledge of welfare, housing, safeguarding or community support pathways relevant to immigration clients.
- Experience delivering advice through outreach, drop-ins, community venues or partnership settings.
- Experience using case management systems and contributing to audit, quality assurance, monitoring or funder reporting.
- Language skills or experience working effectively with interpreters.
- Understanding of the voluntary and community sector, including grant-funded service delivery and impact reporting.

About the role

About you
You'll be an experienced people professional with a strong track record of delivering talent, learning, engagement and culture initiatives that drive organisational performance and improve employee experience. Combining both a strategic and pragmatic approach, you’ll be able to identify opportunities for improvement and find practical solutions.
Alongside your ability to build strong relationships, you’ll be able to influence and challenge constructively while maintaining credibility and trust. Experience within the charity, international development or wider values-led sector would be highly desirable, as would experience managing external consultants. Key Responsibilities
- Build a resilient donor pipeline and manage prospects and donors through each stage of the pipeline.
- Actively solicit and manage donor relationships across assigned portfolio to achieve global philanthropy income target with a focus on building new income and unrestricted income
- Work with the Global Head of Philanthropy and Lead to implement agreed fundraising strategies across geographies
- Collaborating with the team to implement the Philanthropy strategy as part of the overall Global Fundraising strategy, liaising with leadership, programme leads, communications and finance to ensure ClientEarth maximises potential income from corporate, restricted and unrestricted income streams

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Fundraising management experience working in major donor fundraising.
- Demonstrable experience of securing five (or higher) figure gifts as well as multi-year commitments including unrestricted income.

At The National Lottery Community Fund (The Fund), we are driven by our strategy ‘It starts with community’ and its four community-led missions, as well as our commitment to tackling poverty, discrimination and disadvantage through an equity-based approach.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the UK Portfolio at an ambitious moment of shaping the next phase of our strategy. We are looking for four Funding Officers (2x 12 month FTC, 1 x FTC until March 2027 and 1x FTC until July 2027) to join us and form part of a team of around 40 in total.
The UK Portfolio supports the ambitions and potential of communities across the UK. We focus on scaling projects with a UK-wide benefit, through significant investments and partnerships, which enable systems-level change for communities. Our funding is intended to complement the work of other country portfolios: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
Our Funding Officers are at the core of what we do in the UK Portfolio as we continue to develop in response to our strategy. Our team is spread across the UK, and we're looking for people from a variety of locations within the UK.
Our current work includes:
- TheUK Fund: offers long term funding to support organisations to scale proven work and approaches against two main themes: connected communities and youth voice. Funded projects consistently focus on systems change, community power and voice.
- Climate Action Fund: supports UK-wide ambitious, partnership-led approaches to climate and environmental challenges, bringing together organisations to deliver long-term change at scale.
- Working in partnership with others: Examples include Communities for Children, focused on tackling child poverty, Together for Families, supporting early intervention for children and families. We are also developing new areas of work that explore the opportunities and implications of emerging technologies including artificial intelligence.
Role Expectations
Funding officers help amazing things to happen in communities. They play a vital role in ensuring we provide excellent service to communities all over the UK.
You will support organisations through the grant making process and use your knowledge and experience to make evidence informed judgements. You’ll manage key relationships with grant holders, responding to their needs, providing advice and considered feedback and be willing to have challenging but constructive conversations.
You’ll be a great team player and play an active role in ensuring the effective running of team meetings.
As a Funding Officer you will:
- Support enquirers, applicants and grant holders through our funding processes, assessing and managing a caseload of applications and grants of varying value and complexity.
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at different levels, including project visits and external events.
- Produce and present clear reports which reflect sound judgement, sector knowledge and understanding of the Fund’s strategy, missions and policies
- Identify, and manage risk, supporting organisations to deliver their projects and measure their impact.
- Ensure our data is maintained, accurate and of high quality
- Ensure grant management and assessment contribute meaningfully to the Fund’s learning and impact.
- Demonstrate a commitment to, and ability to build understanding of the Fund’s ambition as an environmentally regenerative funder.
- Contribute to projects including programme development, our equity based approach to funding, impact, continuous improvement and Fund wide initiatives.
Skills & Requirements
You will use your critical thinking skills, curiosity, interest and understanding of our community-led missions to support and inform your approach to assessment and grant management.
You’ll be joining a dynamic and welcoming geographically dispersed team, working with impactful and fascinating projects that are responding to and addressing a wide range of topics across the Fund’s four community-led missions.

The role requires occasional (once a month) travel across the UK to observe and critically analyse the work of applicants and grant holders.
