PWSA UK is looking for an individual who is experienced in individual supporter fundraising, capable of growing our income from our community network, individual givers including seasonal and capital campaigns. About the role
This is a new role and you will manage and maintain a regular giving programme for new and existing supporters, developing tailored communications, proposals and engagement opportunities for the community that connect donors’ interests with PWSA UK’s mission. Working with colleagues, trustees and volunteers, you will support community fundraising, establish an effective individual giving programme using the CRM and increase the number of legacy pledges achieved over time

This is a hands-on communications role sitting at the centre of a small, ambitious and growing charity.
The Communications Manager will take responsibility for planning, coordinating and delivering communications across Not A Phase. You will bring together communications from across our services, campaigns, fundraising, partnerships and events, ensuring that what we communicate is engaging, accessible, consistent and recognisably Not A Phase.
This is not simply a social media role. We are looking for someone who can see the bigger picture of the charity's communications while also being comfortable doing the work themselves - writing copy, developing campaigns, briefing creatives, producing content, updating the website, coordinating photography and filming, creating newsletters and making sure projects actually get delivered.

Experience in a charity, community or purpose-led organisation.
Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to make complex information clear and engaging.
Strong communications, marketing or content experience, including multi-channel campaigns.
Strong digital and social media experience, including websites, email, audience growth and performance insight.
Excellent organisation and project-management skills, with the ability to plan ahead and manage competing deadlines.
A strong understanding of brand, tone of voice, accessibility and inclusive communications.
Sound judgement when communicating about sensitive or contentious subjects.
A collaborative approach, with the confidence to work independently and own projects from idea to delivery.
Experience managing external creatives, freelancers or agencies.
A hands-on approach and willingness to personally produce much of the charity’s communications.
Desirable
Experience communicating with LGBTQIA+ communities and an understanding of issues affecting trans+ and gender-diverse people in the UK.

The Person
We are a small team delivering a growing UK-wide programme, so we need someone comfortable taking ownership.
The role is varied: you might plan a national campaign, update a Trans+Connect webpage, coordinate content at a Misfits session or prepare communications for a new partnership.
You will spot strong stories across the charity and turn them into effective communications.
You will understand that good communications are about reaching the right people, telling meaningful stories, building trust and demonstrating impact.
You will bring structure and forward planning while retaining the personality, creativity and community-led approach that makes Not A Phase distinctive.

About the role
Reporting to the Chief Development Officer and working with colleagues worldwide, the Head of Major Gifts will lead the organisation’s major gifts programme, taking responsibility for both strategic development and frontline fundraising. The Head of Major Gifts will build pipeline, create new opportunities, strengthen fundraising discipline and embed a proactive new-business culture across the major gifts function. Seeking to grow and develop this area, the Head of Major Gifts will play both an operational and strategic role – personally winning and managing relationships at the £250k+ level, as well as developing the team and the strategy. It will also have the opportunity to partner with the Chief Development Officer on principal gifts at the £1m+ level.

We are looking for someone who enjoys being both hands-on and strategic, with experience securing and managing transformative (£250k+) gifts – and coaching others to maximise their own portfolios. A new-business mindset is crucial, as this role will continue BirdLife International’s major-giving growth trajectory.
