The role
As Head of Operations, you will lead delivery across the South West, working through a network of county teams and specialists. Your focus will be on strengthening our ability to deliver. Supporting team leaders to grow capacity, manage workload and deliver high quality work in increasingly complex projects. You will work alongside teams to remove barriers, improve systems and step into delivery where needed helping to ensure work progresses and opportunities are achieved. Working closely with the CEO and senior team, you will help translate strategy into delivery and ensure we remain effective, responsive and financially sustainable. You will also play a key role in how we respond to change across the sector, supporting teams to navigate new policy, funding and partnership opportunities.

We are looking for an experienced leader who is motivated by enabling others to deliver. You don’t need to have experience in the environmental sector. East of England – with travel across the region
We are looking to recruit a Mentoring Programme Co-ordinator that will work to expand The Salvation Army’s Starfish programme across the East of England Division. Starfish is a mentoring programme designed to work with children and young people in schools, aged 9-16 years.
Working within a school’s student wellbeing support, Starfish provides committed and trusted adults (mentors) to work with young people who need Early Help without which they would be at risk of not meeting their full potential. Their identified needs may relate to their health, educational or social development.
Key responsibilities:
- Establish and grow the Starfish Schools Mentoring Programme within local primary and secondary schools ensuring efficient and effective delivery and monitoring.
- Recruit and support volunteer Starfish mentors from the local Salvation Army corps and other churches in line with Salvation Army volunteer and Safe & Sound guidelines.
- Support and supervise volunteer coordinators / mentors including identifying and facilitating relevant training.
- Oversee all pupil referrals to the programme, ensuring all relevant information and reports are submitted to schools. Attending multi-agency meetings when required.

The successful candidate will have:

In this vital role, you will provide face-to-face therapeutic counselling to children and young people aged 5 to 18 who have been affected by sexual violence, abuse and/or rape. Working within a trauma-informed, survivor-centred framework, you will help young people feel heard, supported and empowered as they move towards recovery.
You will join a skilled multidisciplinary team that places clinical quality, safeguarding, reflection and staff wellbeing at the heart of everything we do, with access to regular supervision, accredited training and ongoing professional development.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality, trauma-informed one-to-one counselling to children and young people aged 5–18 who have experienced sexual abuse and/or rape.
- Complete and maintain initial assessments, risk assessments and risk management plans, reviewing these on an ongoing basis as required.
- Maintain accurate, timely and ethical clinical records in line with legal, safeguarding and organisational requirements, including pre-trial therapy guidance.

- Support the service’s monitoring and evaluation processes, including outcomes and feedback, to ensure quality, accountability and sustainability.
- Uphold the rights of the child, promoting autonomy, choice and participation within the counselling process while maintaining appropriate safeguarding boundaries.

About the programme: ABC Parents Programme
The ABC Parents Programme empowers parents from the most deprived wards in Enfield and Haringey to increase their confidence and improve appropriate use of services across health and social care through child health workshops and networks of peer-to-peer support for parents.
The programme is delivered in community venues by a range of staff working in children’s community health services and Child Health Champions. They are supported by multi-agency practitioners from the hospital, primary care and voluntary sectors in Enfield and Haringey.
The programme is delivered in partnership with North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust (NMUH), The Bridge Renewal Trust, Every Parent and Child, Public Health Haringey, NCL CCG and other local multi-sector agencies.
About the role: Child Health Community Champions
The Child Health Champions Lead will recruit and provide ongoing support to a small team of Child Health Community Champions (CHCC). This will include:
· Supporting professional development through carrying out training needs assessments of the CHCCs and identifying appropriate training
· Alongside the Project Coordinator, planning workshops incorporating CHCCs strengths
· Holding regular meetings and quarterly Wellbeing sessions with CHCCs
· Being responsible for the recruitment and deployment of creche workers where required
About you:
You will be an enthusiastic, motivated and caring individual who understands community engagement and has experience of successfully managing a community project and providing group leadership.
The Child Health Champions Lead will be employed by Every Parent & Child and will work as a member of the ABC Parents Program Team based at NMUH.
Duties/Responsibilities
1. Engaging Community Champions
· Actively recruit new Child Health Community Champions (CHCC) and support their training.
· Working with the CHCC, identify professional training needs, develop ideas through to delivery.
· Arrange regular meetings with the CHCC to provide support and seek feedback to support monitoring and the impact of their intervention.
· Liaise with the Project Co-ordinator in planning sessions/workshops, working to the strengths of the CHCC. The Child Health Champions Lead will be parent-facing, on-site at community sessions when required.

2. Development and Delivery of Workshops
· Attend and support all Health and Wellbeing workshops for Community Champions.

· To provide feedback to the Creche worker, thus ensuring they can respond effectively to the needs of the service.
4. Other Duties
· Complete DBS checks for all CHCC and to maintain accurate records.
· To understand, promote and implement Every Parent & Child’s equality policy, recognising social and cultural diversity in the delivery of services, management of facilities, contract management and staff/volunteer recruitment and management.
· To escalate Child Protection/Safeguarding concerns to the CEO and maintain an accurate record of all escalated concerns.

The Politics Project supports young people to use their voice by giving them access to brilliant democratic education. The Politics Project also leads the Democracy Classroom Network, a sister network of over 100 organisations across the democracy, education and youth sectors which support over 3,500 teachers and youth practitioners to engage young people in democracy.
Democracy Club produces the most comprehensive election data in the UK. Established in 2010 and registered as a Community Interest Company in 2015, it runs the national polling station finder Where Do I Vote and candidate lookup service Who Can I Vote For, serving election information to millions of UK voters each year and supplying data to the Electoral Commission. Democracy Club brings a mailing list of 35,000, an active community of 1,200 volunteer contributors collaborating on election information, and strong digital and data expertise to the Network.
Our vision for the Network
Over the last year, we have carried out extensive consultation with members of the UK Democracy Network, the Network’s Steering Group and funders. Through this process, we have developed a new vision for the Network that is designed to reflect and support the diversity of the democracy sector, and the wide range of approaches, perspectives and organisations within it.
Our model is built around a series of smaller thematic, geographic and demographic-based “hubs” within the wider Network. These hubs will create spaces for organisations and individuals working on particular issues, in particular places, or with specific communities to collaborate more effectively, while remaining connected to the wider democracy ecosystem.
Alongside this, the Network will support stronger coordination and information sharing across the sector through activities such as a monthly bulletin, shared events, an annual conference and practical tools and databases that help partners collaborate more effectively.
Importantly, we want to build on and strengthen the excellent work that already exists across the democracy landscape, rather than duplicate it. Over time, we also hope the Network can help incubate and support new hubs and collaborations around emerging issues and opportunities within the democracy sector.
About the role
The Network will be delivered by a small core team: a Network Director (this role), a Network Manager (in post), and a Network Coordinator (to be recruited).
Our medium-term ambition is for the Network to become an independent organisation in its own right.
