At the Nuffield Council on Bioethics (NCOB), we are on a mission to place ethics at the centre of decisions regarding biomedicine and health so that we all benefit. We are now recruiting to the new position of Operations Administrator to enable the efficient functioning of the organisation.

In this role, you will provide administrative support to the senior leadership and wider NCOB team which will include acting as the first point on contact on administrative and operational matters including financial and HR related processes. You will also be responsible for updating NCOB’s contact database in Salesforce, maintaining NCOB’s work tracker in order to contribute to smooth organisational delivery and reporting, and ensuring compliance with data protection and risk management matters. You will also provide diary management support to the Director, coordinate meetings on behalf of the Senior Leadership Team and the wider team as needed, and support the Operations Manager in the management of Board and Council meetings.

We are looking for someone with experience of working in administrative roles, with knowledge of office systems and processes. You will have excellent administrative and coordination skills, be a strong communicator and comfortable working with a range of people across multiple workstreams as well as liaising with external stakeholders. You will have excellent organisational and planning skills, be comfortable juggling different tasks and have a problem-solving mindset. 

Above all you will be someone who is proactive, willing to 'muck in' when needed and be able to work in a collaborative and inclusive style.

Who We Are

The 999 Club has stood on the corner of Deptford Broadway for more than 30 years, working with and supporting the local community. Our focus now is on people who are street homeless, rough sleeping or unhoused and those who have no recourse to public funds.

The Gateway is open five days a week and provides a welcoming, safe and friendly space where our members can spend time away from their usual situation and sort out practicalities like getting laundry done, taking a shower, charging their phone and having something to eat.

Exactly as it says on the tin, the Essential Services Team was set up to deliver essential services and we’re really excited to be restructuring the team. Whilst our Intervention Team works with members to figure out their next steps around housing etc. the Essential Services Team work to make sure that everything is in place we all get to spend time in clean, safe, friendly surroundings.

Working alongside an amazing team of volunteers the Essential Services Team provide it all, hospitality to housekeeping and everything in between.  From welcoming members at reception to helping out with laundry, to making sure the place is clean and comfortable and well maintained, that we have enough of everything, that all the admin is taken care of and and that there’s something nutritious for lunch, the Essential Services Team are at the centre of everything we do – effectively, they are the engine that keeps the 999 Club running.

• Play a key role in planning and delivering the 10-year anniversary event in May 2027. 

• Develop, manage, and strengthen high-level strategic funder relationships and networks, building a strong pipeline of partnerships to support income targets.

• Utilise the organisation’s data systems to identify relevant insights and stories, leading the development of the 2026 Impact Report.

Finance & Sustainability 

• Hold accountability for the operational delivery and financial sustainability of the charity. 

• Work closely with the CEO and external Financial Service Provider to develop organisational budgets, support with the annual independent examiner and ensure effective financial planning, management, and oversight. 

• Ensure financial performance, risks, and forecasts are clearly and appropriately communicated to the CEO, Board. 

• Support income sustainability by aligning delivery with funding strategy and identifying opportunities for growth and partnership. 

• Act as main liaison between the charity and the Financial Service Provider, ensuring that both the charity and contractor adhere to the organisation's financial procedures 

Personal Specification 

Strategic Leadership & Drive 

• Proven senior leadership experience at director level or equivalent in the charity, public, or social sector, including leading teams and engaging boards. 

Organisational governance 

• Financial acumen; comfortable owning budgets, managing forecasts, approving payments and communicating financial health clearly to the board. 

• Sound knowledge of charity governance, HR, GDPR, risk management, and regulatory compliance. 

• Excellent organisational & project management skills 

Vision, stakeholder engagement and influence 

• Experience cultivating strategic partnerships with schools, funders, and external stakeholders. 

• A track record of building funder relationships and driving income generation, with confidence overseeing fundraising strategy and pipelines.

Change Management & Adaptability 

• Experience in an interim/ short term role

About St Giles Trust

An ambitious, well-established charity that helps people facing adversity to find jobs, homes and the right support they need.  Central to our ethos is our belief that people with first-hand experience of successfully overcoming issues such as an offending background, homelessness, addictions and gang involvement, hold the key to positive change in others.

London Edge-of-Care (L-EDGE) is a 36-month project which aims to create positive outcomes for up 60 children and young people a year who are at risk and on the edge of being taken into local authority care. The project focuses on intervening before any formal care proceedings have taken place and provides a whole family approach.

About this key role

As a Children & Families Caseworker, you will deliver intensive, trauma-informed and whole-family support to children and young people at risk of entering care. This will involve carrying out comprehensive needs assessments, risk assessments and safety planning, and working alongside families to develop and review action plans that address practical, emotional and safeguarding needs.

This is a highly relational, outreach-based role, requiring regular travel across London Boroughs. You will work closely with Children’s Social Care and other statutory and voluntary sector services to deliver coordinated, effective support. You will also play a key role in identifying risk, including child criminal and sexual exploitation, and ensuring appropriate safeguarding responses are in place.

What we are looking for

• To have lived, personal experience of the Criminal Justice System and/or care system.
• Experience of working with socially excluded children, young people and adults and of providing advice and guidance and/or mentoring to them.
• Experience of successfully engaging with challenging families and young people, e.g. those who have complex needs, people who are reluctant to discuss their needs and people who are angry and confused.
• Understanding of the UK care system and the challenges faced by those who enter it.
• Knowledge of gangs, knife crime and patterns of offending in London.

•  Understanding of child criminal exploitation (CCE) and child sexual exploitation (CSE)

The Opportunity

The Fundraising Manager will play a central role in managing and growing partnerships with key funders to ensure they are well stewarded, renewed and, where possible, developed into larger, multi-year relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Trusts, Foundations & Statutory Funding

• Write high-quality funding applications, cases for support and grant reports
• Manage and steward a portfolio of existing funders, maximising renewal and uplift opportunities
• Research, develop and submit new funding applications
• Work with delivery staff to gather impact data, outcomes and case studies

Systems, Data & Insight

• Develop and implement a clear monitoring and evaluation approach to support fundraising, reporting and impact measurement
• Research, recommend and help implement a CRM system for fundraising and relationship management
• Track income, prospects, deadlines and reporting requirements
• Produce clear fundraising reports and insights for the CEO and trustees

Relationship Management & New Business

• Build strong, long-term relationships with funders, partners and supporters
• Represent The Access to Sports Project at meetings, events, funder visits and site visits
• Work with the CEO and trustees to unlock networks and cultivate new opportunities

Fundraising Strategy & Delivery

• Co-develop a 3-year fundraising strategy with the Chief Executive and external fundraising consultant
• Translate strategy into clear annual plans, pipelines and targets
• Take ownership of day-to-day delivery and implementation

Collaboration & Culture

• Work closely with delivery teams, coaches and managers to understand programmes and impact
• Be an active, visible part of a small, close-knit and supportive team
• Spend time on programmes and community activity to stay connected to the young people and communities we serve

You’ll be embedded within our sports environment at Sobell Leisure Centre. You’ll regularly be close to delivery, impact and the energy of community sport.
