DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic communications 

• Lead the development, implementation, and management of MAP’s strategic communications and support public engagement initiatives. 

• Oversee the organisation’s language and messaging frameworks, including the maintenance of the language guide and key messaging documents to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with MAP’s mission and communications objectives. 

• Develop, implement and manage integrated, cross channel communications plans and strategies.

• Bring a prospector’s mindset, spotting openings, anticipating debate moments and positioning MAP ahead of the curve rather than reacting to events. 

• Support the organisation in contributing to crisis communications planning and responding to mitigate reputational risks. 

Media management  

• Lead on the development and delivery of high-impact content to raise MAP’s profile and influence, and to drive public and supporter engagement. 

• Actively seek out and develop opportunities for MAP to shape public, political and sector debates, including through opinion pieces, broadcast opportunities, podcasts, industry and specialist media, conferences and high-level events. 

• Manage MAP’s Senior Media and Communications Officer, fostering professional growth, confidence and judgement. Conduct regular one to ones, appraisals, and support their work.

• Manage the production, review and sign off of all media materials including press releases, op-eds, letters to the editor, media updates, and other external communications content where necessary. Ensure efficient delegation where required. 

• Lead media engagement, including briefing spokespeople and coordinating MAP’s responses to media inquiries, ensuring delegation where required.

• Provide high-quality briefing, messaging development, and media preparation for senior staff engaging externally. 

• Maintain and build strong, trusted relationships with journalists and editors across UK and international media. 

• Alert MAP’s staff to imminent news and current affairs stories, and recommend communications actions or restraint as appropriate. 

Advocacy and campaigns communications 

• Develop strategic communications plans for MAP’s advocacy and campaigning initiatives (such as, party conferences, parliamentary and UN engagement), identifying media opportunities, and ensuring key messaging is aligned with advocacy objectives and reaches targeted audiences. 

• Work closely with MAP’s Advocacy and Campaigns Team to amplify campaign impact through coordinated media and supporter-facing communications. 

• Strengthen MAP’s role in advocacy coalitions by leading collaborative media and communications outputs with partners. 

• Help ensure that communities MAP supports have a voice in campaigns, that their perspectives shape messaging and that communications do not expose staff, partners or communities to undue risk. 

• Advise on the strategic communication opportunities to profile and disseminate policy and research outputs. 

General responsibilities

• Manage external suppliers providing design, printing and other support as required. 

• Represent MAP at external meetings including with media, partners and supporters, and deliver talks when required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION 

Experience and knowledge 

• Substantial, relevant and recent experience of communications at a national and/or international level within humanitarian, healthcare or human rights organisations. 

• Strong track record of developing and implementing communications strategies to achieve advocacy and fundraising objectives. 

• Experience in overseeing organisational language and messaging frameworks in politically sensitive contexts. 

• Strong experience in media relations, including briefing spokespeople, drafting press releases, reactive and proactive media handling, and securing media coverage. 

• Understanding of digital communications and campaign tools (e.g., petitions, email campaigns) and audience engagement strategies. 

• Experience working with fundraising/marketing teams, consultants and agencies. 

• Strong understanding of political risk, reputational management and crisis communications. 

• Knowledge and understanding of the political context and of development and humanitarian issues in Palestine and Lebanon and the wider Middle East is desirable. 

Skills and abilities  

• Strong communicator (written and oral) and persuasive storyteller. 

• In depth understanding of how media can be a tool for influence and to achieve change. 

• Confident interpersonal, influencing and relationship management skills, and an ability to pitch stories persuasively to media and other targets. 

• Creativity and a willingness to innovate.

• Fluent written and spoken English. 

• Ability to prioritise and ability to deal with competing demands in a fast-paced working environment.

• Ability to work collaboratively and independently, with sound judgement and discretion. 

• Keen attention to detail, copy/proof editing and quality control on all outputs. 

• Working knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.

• Commitment to human rights, international justice, and promoting Palestinian participation in communications and campaigns.

• Able to travel extensively within London and the UK and willingness to travel to Lebanon and the occupied Palestinian territory occasionally as required.

This role serves as a strategic lead in the fight against authoritarianism and the rise of the far-right. You will navigate interventions of high political sensitivity, tackling systemic issues such as the defence of protest rights, the protection of marginalised communities, and the pushback against state overreach. By bridging the gap between technical legal strategy and digital mobilisation, you will design impactful campaigns that challenge democratic backsliding, drive vital donations, and defend fundamental civil liberties through rigorous project management and compelling storytelling.

What we're looking for

• Campaigning & Journalism: Experience as a strategic advocate or campaigner, with a track record of identifying cases that highlight consumer detriment
• Thematic Expertise: Experience navigating the political and legal sensitivities of campaigns related to Reform action, protest rights, Palestine and challenging the rise of the far right
• Project Management: Experience managing multi-faceted projects, ideally coordinating between different specialisms (e.g., legal, tech, and comms)
• Digital Mobilisation: Experience helping to develop and implement digital campaign strategies that have raised income, grown lists, or secured change
• Political & Economic Awareness: A keen understanding of the political landscape, particularly focused on party politics, protest and civil rights

Key Details

Salary: £53,700 per annum with generous benefits including 25 days annual holiday plus public holidays, non-contributory pension scheme, private medical health insurance, life assurance, and flexible/hybrid working

About the role

We’re looking for a motivated and committed public affairs manager to join the policy, evidence and influencing team. In this role, you’ll help deliver change for people affected by breast cancer by leading our public affairs work in the UK Parliament and across England. 

You’ll be responsible for developing and delivering a public affairs strategy to raise awareness of the critical issues for people affected by breast cancer. You’ll work with colleagues across the team and organisation to design influencing activities and events that deliver change. You’ll build strong relationships with parliamentarians and other public affairs stakeholders.

This role manages a public affairs officer. You’ll work closely with them to provide the secretariat for the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Breast Cancer.

With experience of working in relevant public affairs roles to deliver significant change, you’ll be an excellent communicator, well-organised and able to work under pressure to tight deadlines. You’ll be confident working with a wide range of people and have experience of supervising or managing people. Campaign Director

Are you driven by social justice and motivated by creating real, lasting change? Are you a strategic campaign leader who can turn public will into political action? If so, we have a job for you.

We are looking for a Campaign Director to provide overall day-to-day leadership of the Partnership with The Disabled Children’s Partnership (DCP). You will be responsible for driving forward an ambitious integrated campaign, which combines political influencing, press and digital communications, public campaigning, and coalition mobilisation. Reporting directly to the Chair, the Campaign Director ensures the Partnership’s strategy is coherent, impactful, and responsive to political and public opportunities.

In this role, one eye will always be to our impact and the lasting legacy of our campaigns. Success will be measured in terms of real lasting social change – the extent to which DCP has driven positive shifts in policy, practice and attitudes through our campaigns, and whether our influence has shaped the narratives, priorities and actions of others beyond the lifetime of the campaign.

This role is a fixed‑term position (22.5 hours per week, worked over 3 days) until June 2027. We’re open to discussing how these hours can best work for you. Some on‑call and out‑of‑hours working may be required.

The Disabled Children’s Partnership (DCP) is a major coalition of 130+ organisations united by a common vision: improved health, education and social care for disabled children, young people, and their families. Together we campaign to secure the policy change, public awareness, and political attention that disabled children deserve.

Our current focus is our high-profile Fight for Ordinary campaign. Together we are calling for reform of the SEND system, so that children with special educational needs or who are disabled can enjoy the ordinary things that other children take for granted, like having a nursery, school or college place, being safe in school, making friends, and taking part in activities in and beyond school.

• Lead and evolve an integrated strategy across influencing, media, digital and grassroots mobilisation.
• Build and nurture a high‑performing coalition, aligning 130+ partner organisations around shared objectives and moments.
• Anticipate and seize political and media opportunities; brief spokespeople and partners; and steward relationships across government, parliament, arm’s‑length bodies and civil society.
• Champion co‑production with disabled children, young people and families - so lived experience shapes priorities, messages and tactics.
• Set clear goals and KPIs; commission insight and evaluation; and report transparently on outcomes and learning.
• Act as a visible ambassador for the DCP, representing the Partnership in senior forums and the media.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Reprieve in a senior leadership position that brings together legal, compliance, governance, finance and operational oversight.

The Director (Legal and Operations) will play a central role in ensuring Reprieve runs effectively, is well-governed and has strong foundations for impact. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will be a trusted advisor across the organisation providing expert guidance on organisational legal matters including employment law, compliance, sanctions, data protection, contracts, privilege, and managing relationships with key partners (you will not be responsible for strategic litigation relating to clients or day-to-day casework as these issues are handled by the casework teams).

You will also support the effective functioning of our Board, ensuring strong governance processes and compliance with our charitable and regulatory obligations. A key part of the role is skilled risk management - helping the organisation navigate complexity while enabling rather than constraining our work.

Reporting to the CEO, you will line manage the Head of Operations and Head of Finance, providing strategic direction and support to ensure these functions are operating as effectively as possible and that relevant information is able to be communicated appropriately and clearly to the Board.

This is a role that spans the technical and the operational, requiring someone who is comfortable working across different domains - from legal and compliance questions to organisational functioning, budgets and Board management. We're looking for someone with a sharp legal mind who understands NGO governance, has good judgment and an ability to work collaboratively and effectively with teams across the organisation.

Terms

This is a full-time role on a permanent contract. The annual salary is £71,379 per annum, less any required deductions for income tax and national insurance.

This role is based in Reprieve’s London office. Reprieve operates a hybrid working model and we require staff to work 40% of their working hours from the London office and the rest of the week from home. Z2K has a clear 2025–2030 strategy and a strong reputation for principled, evidence‑led campaigning rooted in frontline experience. The external environment is volatile: rising poverty, political contestation around welfare and housing, and tightening funding conditions.

After a long‑standing Chief Executive stepped down in late 2025, the organisation has been led by an Interim Chief Executive. The permanent appointment is therefore a moment of consolidation and renewal. The next Chief Executive will provide long‑term stability, sharpen strategic focus and define the organisation’s next phase.

Z2K faces structural pressures common to many charities of this scale: rising costs, reliance on grant funding, growing demand and increasing scrutiny. The Chief Executive must do two things at once:

• Increase measurable impact of our advice services and advocacy work on inadequate incomes and high costs.

• Build a financially resilient, well‑run organisation capable of sustaining that impact.

This is not a figurehead role. It requires leadership with grip, political judgement and commercial realism.

The Faith and Public Life Department is responsible for the national-level engagement of the Church of England with public policy, ethics and political life, relations with other churches and faith communities and theological support for the Church's concerns. The team is formally responsible to the Archbishops' Council (i.e. to the national Church as an institution) and also gives direct support to the ministries of the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, and to those of the 26 bishops who sit in the House of Lords.

It is a broad remit, which reflects the breadth of the Church's mission and relationships across the whole country; and the way the Department operates needs to reflect the breadth of the Church also. The Department manages a number of projects which enhance the Church of England's ability to drive social change - current projects include: a Social Impact Investment programme, the support of disabled people in the church; and helping support dioceses and parishes to develop land for housing. The sub-teams who lead on the above work are supported by a dedicated administration and support team.

As the Director, your role will be to ensure that the team's work serves the Church's mission, and to give strategic leadership to a diverse team of highly skilled and experienced staff, liaising closely with the Church's governance structures (e.g. the Archbishops' Council and relevant committees, the Archbishops and other bishops) and other departments of the National Church Institutions. The Department has come together from different backgrounds over the last four years, you will continue the work of building the team carrying on the work of the late Dr Richard Sudworth, who sadly died in December 2025.

You will not be expected to be an expert in every aspect of the Department's work but will bring depth and wisdom to back up the expertise of your staff team. A good grounding in public and/or political theology and understanding of civil society would be a helpful background to supporting the most fast-moving areas of the team's work. You will have scope to take the lead in aspects of the work within FPL's remit, especially where you bring specific experience and expertise.

You will be a full member of the Archbishops' Council's Senior Management Group (SMG) and the Archbishop of Canterbury's Senior Advisory Group. You will report to the Secretary General and will line manage the lead staff of the various FPL sub teams.

You will play a part in reflecting upon and shaping wider policy across the Church, introducing learning and perspectives from the FPL team and ensuring that the FPL team has an appropriate understanding of the wider Church context of its work.

The FPL team is based in Lambeth Palace, but team members may be required to work at times at Church House, Westminster and other locations. The Director could be based at Lambeth Palace, or at Bishopthorpe Palace near York. You will be required to attend meetings in various parts of the country, such as the General Synod (in London and York), the House and College of Bishops and the Archbishops' Council which meet at a variety of locations, and to be visible in dioceses from time to time. The Director will need to work mostly alongside the team and those it supports, though a degree of home working and remote working is possible. The emphasis is on flexibility and working collaboratively with others.

About the Role

We’re looking for a strategic, creative and proactive public affairs professional to lead our influencing work on ageism and inequalities, including our campaign for a Commissioner for Older People and Ageing; the development of an ageing society strategy; and work to address inequalities in experiences of ageing and support those groups who need it most .

In this role, you’ll shape and deliver an ambitious communications and influencing strategy that raises the profile of our policy issues in parliament and the media and builds support for our policy solutions among national and local government and wider sector leaders.

Working closely with colleagues in the ageism, inequalities and comms teams, you’ll design and deliver impactful communications activity across the channels most likely to increase our influence – from direct engagement and events to media, marketing and social content.

Central to the role will be supporting policy analysis and developing our national policy asks, drafting briefings and consultation submissions, and identifying opportunities to influence through monitoring the external landscape.

You’ll also lead the development of an effective stakeholder engagement plan, driving engagement across government departments, parliament, and other influential stakeholders.

About You

You’ll bring strong experience of working with government and parliament, and a track record of delivering effective policy, campaigning or public affairs activity. A confident communicator, you’re able to translate complex research and policy issues into compelling, accessible messages and present them persuasively to a range of audiences.

Highly organised and comfortable managing multiple priorities, you’ll combine strategic thinking with creativity and a proactive approach to spotting opportunities. You’ll have excellent relationship‑building skills, acting with diplomacy and credibility when engaging with senior stakeholders.

Digital Communications & Engagement Manager

We are looking for a Digital Communications and Engagement Manager to drive forward the Disabled Children's Partnership's digital presence, supporter mobilisation, and stakeholder engagement. Reporting to the Campaign Director, this role is crucial in ensuring the Partnership’s campaigns are visible, engaging, and impactful. 

Delivery of our campaign objectives depends on the contributions of our members and supporters. This role will be the central point of coordination of a complex programme of activity from multiple member organisations and teams. You will deliver excellent digital communications to members, provide support for all DCP meetings, and maintain accurate plans and calendars to track activity and report on progress.

This role is a fixed‑term position (30 hours per week, worked over 4 days) until June 2027. We’re open to discussing how these hours can best work for you. Some on‑call and out‑of‑hours working may be required.

The Disabled Children’s Partnership (DCP) is a major coalition of 130+ organisations united by a common vision: improved health, education and social care for disabled children, young people, and their families. • Design, implement, and manage an “always-on” social media plan to grow and engage DCP’s online audience, through our own channels and those of members
• Lead the development and delivery of digital mobilisation strategies and create compelling digital content (posts, graphics, short videos) aligned to campaign goals and organisational priorities.
• Plan and deliver supporter journeys, email campaigns, calls-to-action designed to build momentum and influence decision-makers, and manage the campaigner database
• Maintain strong relationships with member organisations, delivering regular communication, including newsletters, updates and briefings. 
• Plan and support the organisation of DCP meetings, including the CEOs group, steering group, policy, comms, campaigns, and public affairs sub-groups, and all-member meetings.

This role is for an experienced Communications Officer who wants to put their skills to work supporting Right to Remain to build knowledge, radical solidarity and power in the face of escalating attacks on the rights and dignity of migrants, refugees, and people seeking asylum.

You will use strategic, thoughtful communications to amplify lived experience of the asylum and immigration system, showcase grassroots organising, and promote our expert public legal education resources and training. Your work will empower more people to understand and exercise their rights, and support grassroots community groups and allies to guide, and stand in solidarity with, people navigating the hostile asylum and immigration system.

You will have experience building and engaging communities around social justice through targeted digital communications. Day to day, you will collaborate within our small team to produce email, social and web content that demystifies public legal knowledge and showcases community power. You will also co-create content with These Walls Must Fall campaigners to share their stories, and help set out the impact of political decisions in the press.
