Purpose of the role:

The HR, People and Culture Manager is a recently created role at Back Up in response to our continuous growth and services expansion.

People are central to Back Up’s work. The ideal candidate will be able to both take a lead in defining our future approach to our human resources and fostering a positive workplace culture whilst also providing hands on delivery, and ensuring compliance with UK employment laws. They will help us ensure we have the right people, in the right place at the right time and will support our team members to realise their full potential.

They will oversee the operational management of HR activities, providing tools which empower our organisations leaders and ensure best practice is followed throughout the Charity, while enhancing the overall employee experience.

The role requires strong operational HR knowledge, with a clear understanding of end-to-end HR processes and risk management, ensuring robust foundations are in place as the function continues to develop strategically.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

Recruitment and Staffing:

· Oversee best practice in inclusive recruitment, including impactful and engaging job

postings, screening, interviewing, reasonable adjustments and onboarding of new staff and

Trustees.

· Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop effective

recruitment strategies in order to recruit high performing staff which share Back Up’s values.

· Ensure our role descriptions are consistent and in line with the charities current and future

requirements.

· Manage the onboarding for new team members ensuring it is smooth and consistent.

· Ensure team members have the best possible start at Back Up including orientation and

feeling of belonging at the Charity.

· Oversee delivery of exit interviews and analyse feedback to improve retention strategies.

· Prepare contracts and ensure all required paperwork and legal checks are completed accurately and efficiently.

· Deliver comprehensive HR inductions for new staff, ensuring access to policies,

procedures, and essential information from day one.

Employee Relations and Culture:

· Foster a positive and inclusive workplace environment where employees feel valued and

engaged.

· Act as a first point of contact for employee concerns and conflicts, facilitating resolution

and providing support.

· Work with the charity staff Wellbeing Group and Diversity and Inclusion Group to promote

employee well-being initiatives, activities which support an inclusive workplace and

engagement activities to enhance morale.

· Working with the SMT develop a programme of internal communications relating to people management, organisational culture and behaviours

Payroll and Benefits:

· Manage monthly payroll, pension contributions, and employee benefits administration, ensuring records are accurate and staff inquiries are addressed promptly.

· Prepare letters and update the HR system to reflect any changes in employee contracts.

Learning and Development:

· Support the SMT to identify training needs and implement professional development programmes for staff and trustees which are tailored to individual and Charity goals.

· Work closely with the People Development volunteer supporting team member coaching, awareness and self-development.

· Review and coordinate the induction programme and ongoing training for existing staff to ensure continuous learning and development.

· Lead on our e-learning programme, ensuring training not only meets regulatory requirements but inspires and helps team members grow and develop. Ongoing management of the platform.

Performance Management:

· Oversee performance appraisal process in line with Charity’s values and behaviours.

· Provide support and guidance to managers on performance-related issues.

· Line Management of HR administrator providing clear direction, development support and quality assurance across HR administration

Best Practice, Policy Development and Compliance:

· Review and update our staff handbook and HR policies and procedures using Back Up’s tone of voice and ensuring compliance with UK employment law and best practice.

· Ensure all staff are aware of and understand HR policies and procedures through effective communication and training.

· Conduct salary and benefits benchmarks and identify other initiatives which can enhance our employee value proposition and to ensure that the Charity remain competitive and a place where people want to work.

· Stay informed about changes in employment legislation and recommend necessary adjustments to policies.

· Support us to be leaders in inclusive workplace practices delivery of the Disability Confident scheme.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Collaborate with the SMT to align People and Culture operational practice with Charity goals.

· Oversee annual staff survey.

· Manage HR-related budgets, including training and development costs.

· Provide ad-hoc reports and analysis on HR metrics to inform decision-making.

· Support the ethical and responsible use of AI and other technologies across the charity to support our ability to deliver for people with spinal cord injury.

Job Title: Faith and Communities Engagement Officer (Westminster) 

Hours: 35 per week (full time) 

Location: Home working with regular travel across Westminster to faith and community venues in the borough

We train and support volunteers to offer various accommodation options while building a network of local support. We are looking for someone with a depth of knowledge and experience of the faith and community homelessness sector (existing connections within Westminster would be a benefit). The successful applicant will feel confident to speak to anyone and will proactively seek out opportunities to build partnerships and promote and develop the existing work of the homelessness sector in Westminster.
 
About the role 

The Faith and Communities Engagement Officer role is designed to enhance and strengthen the infrastructure of homelessness services across Westminster by mobilising and supporting faith and community-based initiatives and groups. The intention is to facilitate effective partnerships with statutory and voluntary sector services and promote sustainable, community-led responses to homelessness and rough sleeping. 

Key responsibilities will include engagement and partnership development, capacity building and support, infrastructure and sustainability and advocacy. The role will play a vital part in bridging gaps between grassroots faith and community initiatives and formal homelessness systems, ensuring coordinated and compassionate support for those experiencing homelessness and rough sleeping.

ABOUT THE JOB

Job Purpose 

We are looking for an exemplary people-oriented administrator to provide administrative support to the Gestalt Centre CEO and the workstreams she manages. An important role in the organisation, working with senior leadership and across teams, in a welcoming and supportive environment with opportunities to learn and grow on the job.

Areas of work and responsibility

• Administrative Support to the Gestalt Centre CEO
• Coordinate and support projects and workstreams the CEO leads on: Operations, Communications and Marketing, Short Courses and Post Graduate Qualifications, HR, Finance, Policies, Fundraising and Health & Safety.
• Liaise with the CEO and the leadership team to update the organisational plan and workstream plans, also keep track of relevant priority actions and progress.
• Provide administrative support for governance processes such as the Annual Financial Audit, Trustee Board meetings, the Charity Commission and Companies House submissions.
• Provide administrative support to the organising and running fundraising activities and events.
• Administrative support and coordination for the annual planning of Short Courses and Post Graduate Qualifications programmes. 
• Organise, provide administrative support, and attend as appropriate, weekly operational meetings, monthly Executive meetings, and other project meetings, led by the CEO. Prepare meetings set up, information and any required papers in advance. Organise dates, taking and sending out minutes and coordinate follow-up actions ensuring progress and completion.

• Provide a professional first point of contact for the CEO and as required liaise with her and the leadership team in order to respond to emails or phone calls and organise follow up meetings.

Primary location of role

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

This is an exciting opportunity to lead CPAG’s strategic legal work at an important time in the organisation’s fight to end child poverty. As Head of Strategic Litigation, you will oversee and carry out CPAG’s work using legal cases for positive impact, to benefit families and children in poverty. The ideal candidate will be a solicitor (E&W qualified) with substantial post-qualification experience. You will have experience of conducting public law litigation and legal aid (publicly funded) work. You will be able to supervise the casework of colleagues, such as CPAG’s junior or trainee solicitor(s) and welfare benefit advisers, and support the professional development and wellbeing of your team. You may have experience of working with clients in vulnerable situations or with additional needs, for example, survivors of domestic abuse, refugees, disabled people or children and young people.

What the job involves 

We’re on the lookout for a Legacy and In Memory Executive to join our Individual Giving Team here at Prostate Cancer UK. This role focuses on legacy and in-memory giving - including gifts in Wills which are some of the most meaningful contributions we receive, helping us fund research that will save and improve lives.

In this role you’ll be part of an exciting time at the charity, joining us as we roll out our new Fundraising Strategy and start developing new products. You’ll be delivering thoughtful, well-timed and engaging communications to a variety of audiences, helping us reach new supporters and deepen relationships with those already connected to us. Your work will play a vital part in raising awareness, encouraging supporters to consider leaving a gift in their Will, and providing meaningful ways to remember loved ones. 

Working closely with our Legacy and In Memory Manager, you’ll help manage relationships with external agencies and collaborate with both internal teams and external partners to make sure our plans are delivered smoothly and successfully. It’s a role where your creativity, empathy and organisation will all come into play. 

You’ll also be responsible for the operational duties of the Prostate Cancer Memorial Sculpture – a poignant tribute to the dads, grandads, brothers and friends we’ve lost to prostate cancer, and a place for families and communities to reflect, remember and raise awareness.

How and where we work

Colleagues attend the office at least four days per month (pro rata for part-time colleagues) to collaborate, build relationships, and support projects and decision-making. You can choose where to work the rest of the time. Travel to the office is a commute, so we pay our own travel costs.

Additional in-person attendance will be required during your first few months for induction and training, to support you to learn the role and get to know colleagues.

The Business Support Officer will play a key role in the smooth running of Community Leisure UK, with a specific focus on facilitating members’ meetings and managing queries from members. The postholder will ensure that our members’ Special Interest Group, and other thematic, meetings are organised and run efficiently, and that information is shared regularly with our membership via email. They will often be the first point of contact in relation to member queries and will be responsible for directing and responding to queries as appropriate. They will also be responsible for maintaining accurate contact details for the networks. An overview of our networks can be found on our website.

What you'll get in return 

We are a remote based team, coming together for meetings and team days throughout the year. We are committed to flexible working, and to working with individuals to understand their optimum working patterns. In addition, we support ongoing CPD and training for all staff and work with Personal Development Plans to ensure we support progression and development.

Daily start of the day check ins, and weekly catch ups are arranged wherever possible with your manager and/or team, so that you feel fully supported in your work.

Main Areas of Work and Requirements

The main areas of work and requirements of the Business Support Officer will involve:   

Administration 

• Prepare and circulate agendas and papers for Special Interest Group meetings in collaboration with the meeting Chairs and Community Leisure UK team 
• Record and track progress on agreed actions from meetings and support efficient follow-up 
• Support with the organisation for Regional Meetings in collaboration with Regional Directors 
• Organise online webinars, events and ad-hoc meetings as required in collaboration with the team 
• Ad-hoc admin support to the team as needed                                                          
• Support with the regular deletion of data in line with GDPR 
• Monthly mailout to collect submissions for the monthly ezine 
• Post members’ job advertisements onto the website 
• Support with minute taking at the three General Meetings per year 

Membership and Communications 

• Circulate network queries received from members 
• Respond to members enquiries in a timely and professional manner 
• Maintain and update content on the members’ area of the website  
• Keep contact details up to date on our database for our networks 
• Provide website logins for members when requested

Youth Focus West Midlands (YFWM) is looking for a Regional Development Lead to work as part of the Network of Regional Youth Work Units to build an inclusive and equitable approach to youth voice and youth engagement, ensuring the most marginalised and under-represented young people have their voices heard and acted upon across the UK.

The Development Lead will manage the Amplify funded programme of work across the region. This will include the facilitation of learning networks, peer support groups and peer research approaches, overseeing of project communications and delivering training and support programmes. Along with the collation of best practice around youth voice and contributing to evaluation and impact reporting requirements.

This is a part-time (17.5 hours per week) role on a Fixed Term Contract of 4 years, offering £29,000–£30,000 per annum pro-rata depending on experience (£14,500 – £15,000 before deductions). The role is remote (equipment provided) but with frequent travel required across the West Midlands. Occasional evening and weekend working will also be required.
