Job description

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Safeguarding Manager to lead and strengthen safeguarding practice across our organisation.

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in ensuring that children, young people and adults at risk are protected, supported and empowered through robust safeguarding processes, effective case oversight and a culture of continuous learning.

Working closely with senior leaders, managers and safeguarding representatives, you will provide both strategic leadership and operational expertise, ensuring safeguarding remains at the heart of everything we do.

As our Safeguarding Manager, you will be the organisation’s operational lead for safeguarding, providing expert advice and oversight across a wide range of services including housing, counselling, helpline, outreach, retail, volunteer programmes and national office functions.

You will:

  • Lead safeguarding practice across the organisation.
  • Review and oversee safeguarding concerns and complex cases.
  • Line manage and develop Safeguarding Representatives.
  • Monitor safeguarding quality, compliance and organisational risk.
  • Produce safeguarding reports and assurance information for senior leaders and trustees.
  • Lead safeguarding audits, reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee the effective use of our safeguarding case management system.
  • Develop and deliver safeguarding training across the organisation.
  • Build strong relationships with statutory and voluntary sector safeguarding partners.
  • Ensure policies, procedures and practice remain aligned to current legislation and best practice.

About You

We’re looking for someone with significant safeguarding experience who can confidently provide leadership, challenge and support across a diverse organisation.

You will have:

Essential

  • Significant experience managing safeguarding concerns involving children and/or adults at risk.
  • Experience supervising safeguarding practitioners or safeguarding leads.
  • Strong knowledge of UK safeguarding legislation and multi-agency safeguarding processes.
  • Experience developing safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Experience delivering safeguarding training.
  • Experience producing reports and presenting information to senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Strong analytical and organisational abilities.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to influence, coach and support others.
  • A relevant professional qualification or substantial equivalent safeguarding experience.
  • Safeguarding Level 3 qualification.

Desirable

  • Experience within supported housing, health, social care, charity or voluntary sector settings.
  • Experience using electronic safeguarding case management systems.
  • Advanced safeguarding qualification (Level 4/5 or equivalent).
  • Safeguarding Trainer qualification.
  • Management qualification.

Salary: £32,000 per annum for 28 hours

Hours: 28 hours per week

Location: Home based with Occasional Travel for High Level Cases
