About the role

Sands is the UK’s leading pregnancy and baby loss charity. We work to save babies’ lives and to ensure that anyone affected by pregnancy or baby loss receives the care and support they need.

We are looking for a compassionate, organised and collaborative Hospital Liaison Coordinator to support the delivery, embedding and sustainability of the National Bereavement Care Pathway in England.

This role will help strengthen Sands’ hospital liaison work by building, supporting and developing our network of Hospital Liaison Volunteers. Hospital Liaison Volunteers provide an important link between Sands, NHS services and local communities, helping hospital staff understand and access Sands’ support, training, resources and bereavement care guidance.

The postholder will work closely with volunteers, NHS staff and Sands colleagues to support high-quality, equitable bereavement care for bereaved parents and families. They will coordinate activity, monitor progress, gather feedback and insight, and help ensure learning from hospitals and volunteers informs continuous improvement across the NBCP England programme.

This is a role for someone who is highly organised, values-driven and confident working with people. You will bring experience of supporting volunteer networks, coordinating projects and building strong relationships with a range of stakeholders. You will also be able to communicate sensitively and clearly, work with feedback and evidence, and develop your understanding of bereavement care, maternity services and NHS systems.

Key responsibilities 

Support and develop the Hospital Liaison Volunteer network 

1. Develop, support and strengthen Sands’ network of Hospital Liaison Volunteers in England. 

2. Ensure Hospital Liaison Volunteers feel valued, confident and equipped to carry out their role effectively. 

3. Support the recruitment, induction, training and ongoing development of Hospital Liaison Volunteers. 

4. Provide regular communication, guidance and support to volunteers, including opportunities to share learning, raise questions and identify emerging issues. 

5. Work with colleagues to identify gaps in volunteer coverage and support plans to improve access to hospital liaison support across England. 

6. Help volunteers understand Sands’ bereavement care resources, training offer, NBCP England materials and wider support services. 

7. Support safe, consistent and appropriate volunteer involvement within hospital settings, recognising the sensitivity of bereavement care and the importance of confidentiality and professional boundaries. 

Support NBCP England implementation and hospital engagement 

1. Support NHS Trusts, maternity, neonatal, gynaecology and bereavement teams to understand, implement, embed and sustain the National Bereavement Care Pathway standards. 

2. Promote awareness and use of NBCP England resources, tools and guidance among hospital staff and volunteers. 

3. Help hospitals identify opportunities to strengthen bereavement care provision and reduce variation in families’ experiences. 

4. Support activities that help Trusts understand progress against NBCP standards, including self-assessment, evidence gathering, reflection and improvement planning. 

5. Work collaboratively with NHS staff, volunteers and Sands colleagues to support equitable, high-quality bereavement care for all families. 

6. Contribute to the development and delivery of practical resources, communications and support offers that help hospitals engage with NBCP England. 

Coordinate programme activity, monitoring and reporting 

1. Coordinate key elements of the NBCP England hospital liaison workplan, ensuring activity is well organised, timely and aligned with programme priorities. 

2. Manage multiple tasks and priorities, keeping clear records of activity, progress, risks and follow-up actions. 

3. Support the monitoring of outputs, outcomes and impact, including volunteer engagement, hospital reach, Trust activity and use of NBCP resources. 

4. Prepare updates, summaries and reports for Sands colleagues, programme leads and other relevant stakeholders. 

5. Use project coordination tools and systems to support planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation. 

6. Contribute to measuring the difference made by hospital liaison activity and NBCP England support. 

 Gather, analyse and share feedback and insight 

1. Gather feedback and insight from Hospital Liaison Volunteers, NHS staff, Sands colleagues and other stakeholders. 

2. Identify themes, learning, gaps and examples of good practice from hospital liaison activity. 

3. Share insight in a clear and accessible way to support continuous improvement across the NBCP England programme. 

4. Use feedback to help inform future developments, resources, communications and support for hospitals and volunteers. 

5. Contribute to a learning culture where volunteer and hospital insight is valued and used to improve bereavement care. 

Communicate clearly and build strong relationships 

1. Build and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with volunteers, NHS staff, Sands colleagues and external partners. 

2. Communicate clearly and sensitively with a range of audiences, adapting style and approach as needed. 

3. Facilitate discussions, meetings and learning opportunities with volunteers, colleagues and hospital staff. 

4. Prepare written materials, reports, updates, newsletters or web content as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Outreach, Wheelchair Skills and Wider Engagement

· Engage the widest possible range of people with spinal cord injury to sign up for further contact with Back Up, through organising and/or delivering wheelchair skills training sessions and talks for patients and families at the spinal cord injury centre in the region, general hospitals and with other key partners or locations as identified.

· Coordinate, support and manage volunteer trainers who are helping to deliver sessions and talking to patients and families.

· Lead, sustain and develop strong and effective working relationships with a wide range of health professionals and other charity representatives e.g. through presentations, calls and meetings, to ensure that people access seamless support.

Proactive Contact with People Affected by Spinal Cord Injury

· Maintain and support relationships with a large number of people affected by SCI (adults, children and young people and their parents) through regular proactive contact. This could be in person in the spinal cord injury centre, other settings or through events, telephone contact or other interactions.

· Explore their feelings, wishes and needs and provide tailored peer support to help them feel supported, access relevant services from Back Up and elsewhere through proactive referrals, and become more aware of the possibilities of life after SCI.

Networking, Partnerships and Sustainability

· Develop and maintain a map of touchpoints in the region, where people with an SCI will come into contact.

· Develop partnerships, referral routes and signposting processes to develop reach beyond the spinal cord injury centre.

· Develop and manage a network of community ambassador volunteers to support the wider work and sustainability of Back Up through fundraising and other related activities.

· Take a lead on encouraging localised fundraising activity; working towards wider income targets that support ongoing sustainability.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

· Maintaining accurate records on the database.

· Work as a team, consulting with others to ensure you give and receive high quality support.

· Keep Back Up informed of the issues affecting the people you are supporting and of developments at the spinal cord injury centre, general hospitals and other settings.

· Input into team planning and activities.

· Help recruit new volunteers as needed to ensure a diverse team representing Back Up.

About the Role

The Senior Partnerships Officer (SPO) will work closely with the Chief Executive (CEO) and Fundraising Lead (FL) to ensure the charity has sufficient funding to achieve its mission. This primarily involves developing new donor relationships and partnerships to grow fundraising income streams. The fundraising strategy focuses on high-value grants, gifts and partnerships. We recognise that the lines between major donors, corporate partners and family foundations are often blurred. The Woodland Trust is looking for a Fundraising Development Officer to join the Fundraising Development team and play a key role in raising vital income to support nature recovery across South West England. You'll build and manage relationships with major donors, secure funding through grants and legacy giving, and help deliver ambitious fundraising plans for projects, including the South West Rainforest Recovery Treescape.

This role is advertised as full-time, 37.5 hours per week.

The Role:

• Manage and grow a portfolio of major donors and prospects to secure significant philanthropic income, improve donor loyalty, and promote blended and legacy giving.
• Lead fundraising strategy and delivery for the Rainforest Recovery Treescape initiative, securing funding and acting as its fundraising champion.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, partners and internal stakeholders to maximise restricted and unrestricted fundraising opportunities.
• Develop compelling funding proposals, cases for support and other fundraising materials to secure income for regional projects.
• Work collaboratively across the South West and wider Woodland Trust to develop and deliver fundraising plans supporting nature recovery, woodland creation, outreach and land acquisition.
• Support and maximise fundraising events across the South West and UK to engage donors and generate income.
• Secure funding from regional grant-makers and community funding programmes, including local authorities, lottery and environmental funding sources.
• Collaborate with operational, grants and regional teams to identify funding opportunities and submit high-quality bids aligned with regional priorities.
• This is a homebased role, requiring regular travel to locations within the South West landscape, sometimes to remote locations. You would be expected to live within reasonable travelling distance of your area of responsibility. Occasional travel to regional offices and overnight stays will be required.
• This role does not come with a company vehicle, however after a 9-month period in-post, we will review vehicle business use to see if the post-holder is reaching the eligibility criteria as stated in our Company Vehicle Policy.  If the post-holder complies with those criteria, with sign off from our Facilities Team, a vehicle will be sourced and provided. Working closely with the Head of Partnerships and Fundraising, we’re looking for a Trusts and Foundations Manager to join our small team at a critical growth point to build and deliver a Trusts Fundraising Strategy (currently projected to generate c.£600K in 2027) laying the groundwork for long term, sustainable income generation as part of our wider Fundraising Strategy.

This is a new role for someone with substantial experience working in Trusts Fundraising, as well as strong project development skills, who can take our fledgling portfolio of funders and transform it into a pool of engaged supporters invested in MRF’s work in the long-term. You will have a demonstrable track record of securing five-six figure sums, the ability to create propositions in collaboration with programmatic colleagues, and the confidence to present compelling cases for support to a range of philanthropic organisations. You will also have excellent communication skills both written and verbal, a keen eye for connecting philanthropic organisations to the right projects to develop meaningful relationships, and the skills to deliver high-quality, detailed bids to further our strategic objectives.

About the Role

As a Payroll Manager, you will take ownership of the full payroll lifecycle for a workforce of approximately 1,500-2,000+ employees, ensuring an accurate, compliant and timely payroll service.

The role

Our accountant in the East Africa office handles the day-to-day transactions — raising invoices, recording expenses and paying supplier bills. You will work alongside them, providing the qualified oversight, payment control and monthly discipline that keep the finance function running well, and supporting their development along the way.

It is a varied role that combines hands-on accuracy with oversight and coaching. In practice, you will:

• Support, guide and coach our accountant so that accounting entries are made correctly and consistently, building their skills over time.

• Run payment preparation and approval process in the UK entity, approving payment runs for release by local signatories.

• Financial management of project funds: accounting, expense management, funds transfers and accurate financial reporting.

• Review monthly results and report, examining the Statement of Financial Activities and underlying entries, and tracking performance against budget.

• Own the budgeting process, maintaining and updating the existing annual budget and monitoring it each month, and reporting quarterly to funders.
