The Role

The Role

Disrepair Surveyor

The Disrepair Surveyor will provide specialist technical and surveying support across Westminster City Council’s housing stock, with a primary focus on housing disrepair, responsive repairs, building defects, damp and mould, leaks and insurance claims. The role will ensure defects are accurately diagnosed, works are properly specified and cases are resolved within legal and operational timescales, minimising risk and improving outcomes for residents.

The postholder will carry out pre- and post-inspections, investigate building defects and produce technical specifications and CPR35-compliant reports where required. They will manage disrepair cases through to completion, working closely with legal teams, residents and contractors to progress Schedules of Works, Court/Tomlin Orders and remedial works within agreed deadlines.

A key part of the role will be managing damp, condensation, leaks and water ingress, ensuring root causes are identified and appropriate remedial works are completed. The postholder will also identify recurring defects and investment requirements to inform planned and preventative maintenance programmes.

The role will include repairs contract and contractor management, including monitoring WIP, quality and performance, assessing variations, approving expenditure within delegated limits, managing follow-on works and ensuring contractors meet contractual and technical standards.

The postholder will work directly with residents and internal stakeholders, managing complaints, arranging inspections, providing updates and ensuring repairs are fully resolved. They will also support insurance claims by identifying insured works and providing technical information to the insurance and legal teams.

The role requires strong knowledge of housing disrepair, building defects, repairs surveying, contractor management and relevant housing legislation, alongside an understanding of HHSRS, the Housing Disrepair Protocol, Landlord & Tenant legislation, CDM and health & safety requirements.

Core responsibilities

• Manage housing disrepair cases from inspection through to resolution.

• Conduct pre/post inspections, defect diagnosis and technical reporting.

• Produce specifications and CPR35-compliant reports where required.

Compass Wellbeing CIC is looking for a new Non-Executive Director to join our Board and help ensure community voice, lived experience and partnership working continue to shape our strategy and decisions.

We are a small social enterprise (and subsidiary of East London NHS Foundation Trust) that helps communities thrive by bringing people, organisations and opportunities together, from earlier access to support, to employment and skills, to partnerships that make a real difference locally.

This NED role has a particular focus on strengthening our relationships with voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) organisations.

A national charity is seeking an experienced Interim Finance Business Partner to join its finance team on an six-month contract. Working closely with operational budget holders, the successful candidate will provide high-quality financial support, challenge and insight to help drive financial performance across the organisation. This is a hands-on business partnering role with a strong focus on management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities are as follows:

• Partner with budget holders, providing financial advice and constructive challenge to support decision-making.
• Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, including commentary and variance analysis.
• Lead budgeting and forecasting processes across designated business areas.
• Analyse financial performance, identifying risks, opportunities and areas for improvement.
• Support business planning through financial analysis and reporting.
• Build strong relationships with operational stakeholders, presenting financial information in a clear and meaningful way.
• Contribute to continuous improvements across financial processes, reporting and controls.
• Support wider finance activities as required, including year-end and audit preparation.

You will:

• Be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or possess significant relevant business partnering experience.
• Have a proven track record as a Finance Business Partner within a large or complex organisation.
• Have strong experience preparing management accounts, budgets and forecasts.
• Be confident supporting and influencing senior budget holders and operational stakeholders.
• Possess excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Be able to work independently and quickly build effective working relationships.
• Ideally have experience within the charity or not-for-profit sector.

What's on offer:

• £400 -£450 per day (depending on experience)
• Hybrid working arrangements.
