Role Purpose

We are seeking a creative and committed Volunteer Content Creator to help raise awareness, engage our audience, and grow our online presence across both GLF and GLE platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Create engaging content for social media (posts, captions, short videos, graphics)

• Support content planning in line with campaigns and key messages

• Share impactful stories (while maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding standards)

• Assist in growing audience engagement across platforms (e.g. Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn)

• Maintain a consistent tone and brand voice

• Work collaboratively with the marketing team

Skills & Experience

• Strong creativity and attention to detail

• Basic experience with content creation tools (e.g. Canva, CapCut, or similar)

• Good written communication skills

• Understanding of social media platforms and trends

The Lyonic Scots Society is seeking a creative and talented Graphic Designer to help bring the vision of the Lyonic Scots to life through engaging and professional visual design.

About the Role

The Graphic Designer will work closely with the Marketing and Communications Lead, Chair, and other volunteers to create visual content that promotes the Lyonic Scots Society and supports our activities and campaigns.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creative design, branding, digital content creation, and helping community organisations make a positive impact.

Key Responsibilities

1. Brand Development

• Help develop and refine the visual identity of the Lyonic Scots Society.
• Create and adapt logos for use across different platforms and formats.
• Develop brand guidelines to ensure consistent use of logos, colours, typography, and imagery.
• Help establish a professional and recognisable visual presence.

2. Social Media Design

• Create engaging graphics for social media campaigns.
• Design content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and other platforms.
• Develop templates that can be used by volunteers across the organisation.
• Support membership, volunteer recruitment, fundraising, and awareness campaigns.

3. Marketing Materials

• Design posters, flyers, banners, leaflets, and promotional materials.
• Create digital graphics for newsletters, websites, and presentations.
• Develop event branding and visual assets.
• Support campaigns celebrating Scottish heritage, community achievements, and Society initiatives.

4. Creative Projects

• Produce infographics and visual storytelling content.
• Design merchandise concepts and promotional items.
• Create certificates, awards, membership materials, and ceremonial documents.
• Support the visual development of new projects and initiatives.

5. Collaboration

• Work closely with the Marketing and Communications Lead to deliver campaigns.
• Support other volunteers with design requirements.
• Ensure designs align with the values and identity of the Lyonic Scots.

We Are Looking For Someone Who Has

• Experience using graphic design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, Affinity Designer, Figma, or similar software.

Key Tasks and Objectives

• Ensuring all content is on-brand, consistent in style, quality, and tone of voice, and ideally optimised for search and user experience across channels, including our website, our members' magazine, and social media.
• Supporting the development of a communications strategy from the 3-year charity's strategy, focusing on the content section.
• The implementation of a functional content calendar
• Establishing workflow for requesting, creating, editing, publishing, and repurposing content
• Operate as the point of contact for content volunteers in the team.
• To also be an active part of the content team as a content writer.
• Identifying, initiating and leading on content projects which align to the strategy and realise our goals.
• Collaborate with the team
• To contribute to the Annual Report or other reporting documents.

Volunteering is and always will be at the heart of Cats Protection. It is joyful and inclusive. As a charity, working in partnership, together we transform the lives of cats, people and communities.

The difference you will make to cats and people

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you!

What we need from you

This is a really flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!

Join Wild Magic! Help secure grants and funds to ensure our conservation work continues and develops. Collaborate with us to make an impact on our local community.

As a Grants and Funding Volunteer, you will play a vital role in supporting our work. You will:

• Identify and apply for funding opportunities through compelling proposals
• Craft engaging campaigns to attract donors and increase awareness
• Develop clear and impactful communication strategies to share our mission and successes with stakeholders, partners, and the public

You'll collaborate closely with the admin team, a small group of volunteers who work behind the scenes to enable our success with our project goals. You'll also liaise with our Project Director to align your work with the trust's aims and objectives.

This role is adaptable to your skills and interests. Whether your expertise lies in campaign writing, digital communications, or event-based fundraising, we’ll work with you to tailor the responsibilities and focus areas to make the most of your time and talents.

To thrive in this volunteer role, we’re looking for someone who has a mix of the following skills, experiences, and qualities. While we don’t expect you to have all of these, the more you can bring, the bigger your impact will be:

Skills and Experience (any of these):

• Grant Writing: Proven ability to identify funding opportunities and write compelling grant applications that secure essential resources.
• Fundraising Expertise: Experience in planning, managing, or supporting successful fundraising campaigns. This could include individual giving, events, or digital campaigns.
• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to create impactful messaging across multiple platforms, such as social media, press releases, or donor communications.
• Digital Marketing and Social Media: Familiarity with digital marketing strategies, including using social media for engagement and online fundraising.
• Relationship Building: Experience in building and maintaining relationships with donors, corporate sponsors, or community groups.
• Project Management: The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality results.

Qualities:

• Self-Motivated: Proactive and able to work independently while staying aligned with organisational goals.
• Creative Thinker: A flair for developing innovative ideas for campaigns, proposals, and storytelling.
• Collaborative Team Player: Willing to work closely with others, share ideas, and contribute to a supportive team environment.
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous and thorough, ensuring that all communications and grant applications are polished and professional.
