About this role:

Reporting to the Head of Policy and Communications, the Policy and Communications Coordinator will support SIB’s track record of sector, government and media engagement, notably the high standard of publication set through its media partnerships with Tortoise and the Financial Times, its contributions to the policy landscape in the social sector, and its in-house data analysis and insight generation. This new post will contribute to SIB’s ongoing communications and public policy work and its reach and influence, building on a growing base of expertise across SIB’s three strategic priority areas: Green Transition, Infrastructure and Services.

Key responsibilities

1. Support the Head of Policy and Communications to deliver the Policy and Communications strategy for SIB.

2. Making use of media and parliamentary tracking software keep abreast of SIB’s strategic policy areas, sharing accessible updates and digests of relevant legislation and central and local government programming and media coverage.

3. Attend / watch online relevant parliamentary committees, All Party Parliamentary Groups (APPGs) and Commons and Lords sessions, capturing relevant outcomes and identifying MPs and Lords that SIB should seek to work with / influence.

4. Support the Head of Policy and Communications to identify a key parliamentary contacts list. Create tailored communications for these key contacts which share relevant statistics and case studies from SIB’s portfolio, alongside policy influencing lines. This will include drafting questions and briefings where relevant, and ensuring that regular contact is maintained. 

5. Support the drafting of consultation responses and press releases using SIB’s core messaging, reporting, research and data.

6. Support SIB’s annual party conference attendance with coordination and administration in advance and in person.

7. Support the Head of Policy and Communications with attendance at influencing meetings and webinars with, for example, the Association of Decentralised Energy, Community Energy England, Locality, Better Society Capital, the Access Foundation and others.

8. Draft internal and external copy for newsletters and the SIB intranet and website.

9. Monitor the press email address and support correspondence with journalists on reactive and proactive stories.

10. Attend and provide oversight to the Social Investment Forum, as part of SIB’s secretariat and hosting.

11. Write, edit and produce engaging and relevant content at pace for web, social media and e-newsletters, as well as earned and paid channels.

12. Management of external suppliers of communications and policy activities, including agencies, designers, consultants and think tanks.

13. Work with the Marketing Manager, Marketing and Events Coordinator, Business Development Manager and wider team to deliver successful external events with customers, stakeholders and partners including attendance at Party Conferences.

As Digital Content Coordinator, you will create and publish high-quality content across multiple digital channels, including the website, blogs, social media, email campaigns, podcasts and video. You will maintain and enhance website content using Drupal CMS, supporting improvements to user journeys and ensuring consistency in tone of voice and brand messaging.

Working across our operations we are looking for the Community Coordinator – Cross Ops to play a key role in the Community Team’s work. Their work will help to build our capacity to accept and distribute food through our depot operations, Green Scheme & Felix Connect and non-food items through Felix’s Multibank.

Green Scheme is Felix’s A to B collection and delivery service, volunteers collect surplus food from supermarkets, cafes and delis and deliver it direct to local Community Organisations primarily in Central London. Felix Connect is a platform for suppliers to place ad hoc food and non-food offers to connect directly with Felix’s Community Organisations. 

Duties & Responsibilities

Able to support, answer and conclude all queries in a timely manner and liaise with support functions as required to support team and wider organisational objectives in line with the objectives for food supply and operational capacity

1. About Sculpt UK 

Sculpt is a UK-based charity with over 20 years’ experience, who support young people to shape their own future. Our vision is that we live in a society where young people can be fulfilled through their education, work and participation in wider society. The need for our work is clear given the increasing problems young people face and their lack of confidence and awareness regarding their journey into the world of work. 

We run a range of bespoke programmes that work directly with young people in conjunction with partners - schools, careers hubs, employers, local government and further/higher education. Sculpt addresses interconnected areas that contribute towards our vision: Employability, Youth Voice and Leadership, and Community Action. We build the skills and experience of young people focusing on the transitions between school, education and work. In particular, we are skilled in tailoring our work to meet the needs of young people in alternative provision and those at risk of not being in employment, education and training.   

What we do and how we do it is also informed by the Sculpt Youth Advisory Board, consisting of young people who meet monthly to advise the Sculpt Board on matters such as the needs of young people, product design and programme impact. In addition, we have a Sculpt Alumni community who contribute to the development of our work.

1. What does the role involve? 

Sculpt UK is hiring a youth programme officer who would deliver our direct intervention work with young people with a focus on skills building around employment through our holistic work experience programmes. Approximately 75% of our work involves working with young people who have SEND or who are at risk of becoming NEET (not in employment, education or training).

Responsibilities: 

Youth Programme Officer: 

• Adhere to Sculpt UK’s safeguarding practices and procedures at all time  

• Deliver funded programmes focused on youth employability, leadership and youth voice in line with Sculpt UK’s delivery style and ethos 

• Lead on the Futures Unlocked programme delivery – working with 375 students across London on Free School Meals with SEND to run work experience days with a range of employers 

• Engage employers to deliver work experience days 

• Work with other Youth Programme Officers to successfully to deliver projects and support in data collection required for reporting 

• Use their experience and knowledge of the issues affecting young people to tailor the workshops accordingly to age, need and interest 

• Run mock interviews with programme participants 

• Ensure young people complete relevant entry and exit surveys  

• Undertake relevant training associated with Sculpt UK’s work included but not restricted to child protection & safeguarding 

• Contribute toward and keep up to date with Sculpt UK’s internal / external communications platform such as slack, newsletters and social media  

• Engage with Sculpt UK’s Youth Advisory Board members when invited to do so.

• Capable to maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries with young people, peers and professionals 

Requirements  

• Hold an enhanced DBS certificate or be willing for us to undertake a check on your behalf 

• Have a recent safeguarding qualification from a recognised provider or be willing to undertake additional training in this area 

• Ability to travel - the role will require you to travel around London when delivering at schools or employers 

• Comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, confidentiality, data protection and commitment to reporting concerns to an appropriate staff member

The Role

Future Advocacy is seeking a Research, Advocacy and Communications Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity to support the work of a small psychotherapy and mental health charity 

Working alongside our office administrator and houses coordinator, you will support the Chair and Treasurer to ensure the smooth running of the finances of the organization.

This is a permanent role for the equivalent of one day a week (8 hours) hybrid working. You will be based in our office in Hampstead, London one afternoon a week (day can be negotiated), and the other hours will be worked when needed.
