Our partner is an impactful women’s rights organisation working to empower women, offering them agency promoting gender equality in public policy. They are currently facing financial pressures and are seeking the support of an experienced finance professional, working alongside the Director of Operations.

Your role will be to:

• Assess their financial sustainability, reviewing existing financial analysis and cost recovery model, highlighting immediate areas of concern to address, and advising on how to continue operations.
• Evaluate core costs (including overhead and hosting fee costs) and identify what is affordable/a target overhead % for the organisation to maintain, and potential cost-saving opportunities
• Suggest actionable strategies to strengthen long-term financial health
• Help build a realistic and practical plan to address financial constraints
• Improve cost recovery on grants

This is a pro bono role. They are looking for someone able to start immediately, offering 4 hours of support a week over a period of 4 weeks. They will also be open to someone working from their office in London.

We are seeking motivated and skilled UK-based professionals to join our volunteer board. As a trustee, you will play a strategic role in guiding the organization, ensuring good governance, and supporting our mission to create meaningful social change in Uganda and the UK. The Chair role will suit someone living in Buckinghamshire or the Milton Keynes area, who has a keen interest in the countryside and is excited by the prospect of helping to direct the future of CPRE Buckinghamshire over the next 5–7 years. It is an exciting time to join our team, as CPRE nationally is celebrating 100 years in 2026; you can be involved in making plans as to how we will celebrate this with the Buckinghamshire community through various events and activities.

You will help to:

• direct our important campaigns, engaging the local community and raising awareness of the issues that the countryside faces
• lead our Trustee board, and recruit new Trustee members
• increase our membership, so that we can continue to do the work we are doing
• expand our team of volunteers, so that we can widen and increase the work that we do
• liaise with stakeholders and partners, and forge new partnerships
• ensure that we as a charity meet our legal requirements, adhering to our governing document, and have the necessary policies and resources

Our team works and meets remotely most of the time, but occasional travel may be necessary – to attend CPRE Head Office in London, for example.

Role Title: Treasurer
Reporting to: The Board of Trustees
Responsible for: Oversight of the financial management of the charity, ensuring that 
the charity operates in a financially sustainable and transparent manner, in line with its 
mission, legal responsibilities, and good governance practices.
Purpose of the Role: The Treasurer is responsible for the financial leadership of the 
charity, ensuring robust financial controls, clear reporting, and effective budgeting. The 
Treasurer works closely with the Board and the Chair to safeguard the charity’s finances 
and ensure long-term financial stability. The role involves providing advice on financial 
matters to the board and ensuring the charity adheres to statutory financial reporting 
obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Leadership:
o Lead the board’s financial oversight, ensuring that all trustees understand 
the financial position of the charity and are equipped to make informed 
financial decisions.
o Oversee the development of the charity’s financial strategy, ensuring 
alignment with its mission and long-term goals.
o Provide financial input on major decisions involving investment, 
procurement, and expenditure.
2. Financial Reporting:
o Ensure that accurate and timely financial statements are presented at 
trustee meetings.
o Liaise with external auditors (if applicable) and ensure the charity meets 
all its financial reporting obligations, including the preparation and 
submission of annual accounts in line with charity law.
o Ensure proper documentation of all financial records and transactions, 
maintaining a transparent and auditable financial trail.
3. Budgeting and Forecasting:
o Monitor income and expenditure against the budget, providing timely 
updates to the board and recommending corrective actions when 
necessary.
o Ensure that financial forecasts are regularly updated to reflect changes in 
income or costs.
4. Cash Flow and Reserves Management:
o Monitor the charity’s cash flow and reserves to ensure it has the 
resources to meet its current and future obligations.
o Ensure that reserves are maintained in line with the charity’s reserves 
policy and recommend appropriate action if reserves fall below the 
minimum levels.
5. Risk Management:
o Ensure effective financial risk management processes are in place, 
identifying and mitigating key financial risks.
o Work with the board and senior management to review and manage risks 
related to the charity’s finances, investments, and assets.
6. Compliance and Legal Duties:
o Ensure that the charity complies with all relevant financial legislation, 
including charity law and any applicable tax laws.
o Oversee the preparation and submission of statutory returns, including 
financial accounts, tax filings, and funding reports.
o Ensure compliance with the charity’s financial policies and procedures.
7. Supporting Trustees and Staff:
o Work with the Chair and Trustees to ensure they have the support and 
systems needed to maintain effective financial management.
8. Representation:
o Where appropriate, represent the charity at meetings or events related to

Term of Office:
• The Treasurer is typically appointed for a term of two years, renewable by Trustee 
support.
• If the role is to be extended, a vote by Trustees is required as part of an open

Remuneration:

Social mobility - a measurement of the strength of the link between a person’s childhood circumstances and their adult outcomes - has rightly become one of the most pressing policy matters of our time. The barriers faced by people from lower socio-economic backgrounds are higher in the UK than almost every other developed country and cause disadvantage for too many.

The Bridge Group’s mission is to change this. For over ten years, we’ve supported organisations of all kinds with independent expertise, research and practical know-how to enable them to make a real and lasting impact on socio-economic diversity and social equality.

Volunteer: The PR Officer of Hidayah plays a vital role in raising the profile of the organisation. The PR Officer will take the lead in managing relationships with external media, agencies, and partners to help Hidayah achieve its strategic aims. The PR officer will work closely with the Chair and two digital trustees, and focus on increasing visibility, strengthening our public image, and supporting advocacy through effective communication.
 

What are the key responsibilities of this role?

This role will have the following duties, but are not limited to:

• Act as the main point of contact for external media outlets, journalists, and PR agencies on behalf of Hidayah.

• Work with the Chair to help implement their media strategy and PR aims.

• Draft, review and issue press releases, statements, and media content as needed.

• Identify media opportunities that can help platform Hidayah’s work, voices, and campaigns.

• Cultivate and manage relationships with media partners, influencers, and relevant organisations.

• Provide PR advice and guidance to the Chair and help ensure consistent messaging.

• Contribute to the development of key messaging and ensure alignment with organisational policies and values.

How much commitment is required?

We are flexible around your own schedule. One average the role will require 2-4 hours per week. The following commitments are in place for all Hidayah volunteers:

• To be available for media requests or to coordinate timely responses as needed.

• To support Hidayah events through PR activity and promotion. 

• To help with fundraising efforts by securing media coverage for campaigns and initiatives.

• To check and respond to PR-related emails promptly.

• To maintain clear records of media engagement and press materials in the organisation’s shared systems (Google Drive).
