Overview of the Philanthropy Manager role and the team

Barnabas Aid is seeking a proactive and experienced Philanthropy Manager to join our International Outreach team. This new role is integral to ensuring the growth and sustainability of our work through regular or one time organisational and personal donations. The Philanthropy Manager will develop and implement a comprehensive strategy in support of this, targeting potential supporters who wish to leave a lasting impact through Barnabas’ work. The role will involve cultivating relationships with current and prospective organisational and private UK based and international supporters, overseeing communications and marketing strategies, and ensuring that Barnabas Aid’s fund raising programme is promoted effectively across all channels.

As part of a dynamic fundraising team, the Philanthropy Manager will work closely with the Head of Campaigns, the Living Streams Officer, and the Head of Communications. The role will also involve engagement with donors, ensuring that Barnabas Aid is at the forefront of supporters' minds when it comes to making donations or leaving a legacy for future generations of Christians in need.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Fund Raising Strategy:
  •  Develop and implement a comprehensive donation, legacy marketing and stewardship strategy, with the aim of increasing the number of organisational, regular and one-off individual donations in addition to legacy gifts to Barnabas Aid.
  • Adherence to the Code of Fundraising Practice within this strategy.
• Fund Raising Marketing:
  • Create and execute marketing campaigns that inspire organisations and supporters to consider making one off or regular donations to Barnabas Aid. This will include writing promotional materials, organising events, and developing digital campaigns to raise awareness of the variety of ways of making donations and legacy giving.
• Donor Stewardship:
  • Cultivate relationships with existing and prospective donors, ensuring they feel valued and appreciated.
  • Provide regular updates and tailored communications to supporters to ensure long-term engagement and support.
• Engagement & Retention:
  • Work to retain donors by developing a robust stewardship programme that encourages ongoing involvement and loyalty.
• Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the Head of Campaigns and the communications team to ensure that the fund raising programme is integrated into wider campaigns and communications strategies.
• Reporting & Tracking:
  • Maintain accurate records of gifts and supporters, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations eg The Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Practice, charity law etc.
  • Report on campaign outcomes, analysing data to identify trends and optimise future strategies.
• Promote Donor Giving:
  • Represent Barnabas Aid at events, meetings, and speaking opportunities to promote the many different ways to donate and build awareness within all supporter communities.
• Target Achievement:
  • Set and achieve specific targets for the acquisition of new gifts and be a key player in meeting the overall goals for Barnabas Aid.

• Collaboration with Regional Offices:
  • Work with the National Directors of our Regional Offices worldwide to promote donor giving in different geographical areas and ensure strategies are relevant to regional contexts.
• Training & Development:
  • Provide training and resources to staff and volunteers to ensure the fund raising message is communicated consistently across the organisation.

Knowledge , Skills and Experience

Essential

• Fundraising Expertise:
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing successful fundraising strategies, ideally within a (faith-based)charity or not-for-profit environment.
• Campaign Management:
  • Strong background in developing, planning, executing, and measuring marketing campaigns across multiple platforms, including print, digital, and face-to-face engagement.
  • Demonstrable success in increasing donations

o Experience in major donor relations, or planned and unplanned giving campaigns.

• Relationship Building:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with experience in building long-term relationships with high-value and individual donors, including legacy supporters.
• Data Management:
  • Strong organisational and data management skills, with experience using CRM systems to track supporters, donors and gifts.

Purpose of the Role 

The HR Manager plays a key leadership role, working on, and closely with, the management team to ensure effective HR support across the organisation. This role combines strategic HR advice with hands-on operational delivery, helping to shape a positive working culture and ensure compliance with employment law and best practice. 

Key Responsibilities 

Strategic HR Support 

• Advise the management team on HR strategy, policies and people matters

Regional Youth and Community Director

At an exciting and key stage in our journey we have the opportunity for Youth and Community Directors to join our team supporting Oasis’ youth and community work in neighbourhoods in the following regions;

- London and South East (North, Central and South London and Kent - five local Oasis charities)

- North West (Greater Manchester – two local charities, and two regionwide youth violence contracts)

With accountability to the Oasis CEO for Youth and Community the role of the regional Youth and Community Director will have three main functions:

1 Strategic management oversight of local Youth and Community teams

2 Regional development, working alongside other functions within the Oasis family

3 Being part of the national Youth and Community leadership team

JOB TITLE: HR Coordinator

MAIN PURPOSE & SCOPE OF THE ROLE:

The HR Coordinator will provide specialist and proactive support to other departments within the charity to ensure organisational compliance in all relevant areas relating to HR.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Reporting to the People Engagement Manager, you will be supporting the Charity to set and deliver on its People Strategy. You will be responsible for providing operational HR services, advice, and guidance with a primary focus on HR transactions, employee relations management, engagement, recruitment and performance management.  You will identify, analyse and utilise HR data to inform decision making and identify more efficient ways of working.

You will lead the development and implementation of a best practice approach to recruitment.

You will advise managers on best practice techniques for monthly one-to-one meetings and annual appraisals to ensure staff feel confident to openly discuss challenges as well as successes.

You will review and update our existing HR policies and procedures, ensuring they not only comply with current HR law but importantly promote best practice.

You will also work with the senior leadership team to develop a set of organisational values that prioritise equality, diversity and inclusion and reflect best practice, ensuring these are then communicated to all staff, volunteers, and stakeholders.

This is an exciting new role to head up DanceSyndrome’s Community work across Lancashire developing, nurturing, growing, and managing our community workshops. At the heart of our organisation are our weekly bespoke Community Inclusive Dance Workshops; ‘Everybody Dance’. These workshops are co-delivered by a qualified Dance Leader with a learning disability, working side-by-side with a non-disabled Dance Artist. As part of our ambitious strategy, we will be establishing several new workshops across Lancashire over the next five years and co-delivering inclusive dance provision for all ages from early years through to adulthood by 2030.

As Head of Community, you will oversee several vibrant and active communities; build community engagement and cohesion; and to collect, collate and analyse key data to demonstrate impact and to drive forward strategic planning and decision making. This is alongside developing and managing both strategic and operational long-term partnerships & collaborations across communities in the North-West and building and executing an engaging and effective Volunteer Programme to support all Community workshops.

This role supports strand one of DanceSyndrome’s ambitious strategy; Vision 2023; ‘To deliver an outstanding, collaborative, and high-quality programme of co-produced and co-delivered inclusive dance across the North-West’.

We are looking for an exceptional, experienced, self-motivated, and enthusiastic individual to represent DanceSyndrome at the heart of our communities taking our inclusive person-centred offering to the next level.

You will pro-actively support our timetable of weekly Community inclusive dance workshops ensuring they operate to the highest standards of Quality & Excellence and making sure that all systems and processes are in place in relation to security, registers and payments.

You will line manage the Programmes & Operations Manager and Data & impact Manager and collectively drive forward all aspects of our Community work to the highest standards.  

You will manage key partnerships with Community Centres and be instrumental in engaging and onboarding new participants supporting DanceSyndrome’s ambitious Vision 2030 strategy to increase participation, and reach under-served and diverse communities, as well as executing our Children & Young People strategy working across all ages.

You will identify, understand and engage with key partners and Stakeholders who can support DanceSyndrome’s ambitions to be the ‘go to’ and ‘organisation of choice’ for people with learning disabilities, leadership opportunities and an inclusive unique co-led delivery model which doesn’t exist anywhere else. Through effective partnership working, you will work across sectors and reach under-served and diverse communities. You will also be able to identify key barriers to access, gaps in current provision across the region and seek valuable evidence to inform strategy and to feed back to funders.

You will turn leads in sales in a variety of ways from initiating unusual and impactful partnerships, growing the number of beneficiaries, increasing sales of our products and services, securing in-kind support and vital funding.

You will also develop and manage an engaging and rewarding Volunteer Programme across key communities including recruiting, training, onboarding and retaining volunteers.

Job Profile

CAFOD’s work in the Catholic community of England and Wales is to inspire and resource Catholics to participate in the Church’s mission to overcome poverty and injustice in partnership with CAFOD.

The main purpose of this role is to inspire and increase the participation in CAFOD’s work of Catholic parishes, schools and the broader Catholic community within the Portsmouth Diocese. CPCs are accountable for delivering CAFOD’s annual participation plans locally across England and Wales. As well as growing the number of parishes and schools participating to address global poverty and express solidarity with our global family, we aim to increase the breadth of their engagement, participation.

This will be accomplished partly by the recruitment and support of a team of committed, inspired and well-resourced volunteers working in parish and school communities to enable and equip Catholics to give, act and pray. The Community Participation Coordinator (CPC) is part of a regional team working across a group of dioceses and whilst having a primary focus on one diocese, is responsible for the results of the regional team plans in relation parishioner and school participation and volunteer recruitment and retention.

Key Responsibilities

Delivering participation plans

• Share accountability for delivery of annual participation plans for the region (a group of dioceses) with a primary focus on one diocese, and for fundraising, education, campaigns, and other targets, as delineated by the participation plan for the region. It is usually anticipated that the role will have an 80% focus on parish communities and a 20% focus on school communities
• Contribute to the development and delivery of a regional plan across a number of dioceses in support of the annual participation plans and appropriate for local contexts
• Achieve targets for increasing parishioner and children & young people participation primarily through recruitment and retention of volunteers and working with clergy, religious, diocesan and parish advisers and administrators etc.

Managing volunteers

• Be the local volunteer manager in a specific diocese or dioceses
• Hold the relationship with, and coordinate the work of, a number of volunteers in order to achieve the annual participation plan in the region
• Contribute to increasing the number and activity of parish and school volunteers and volunteer co-ordinators in line with the regional team plan
• Contribute to development of volunteering opportunities and volunteer leadership
• Match the offers, skills, experiences and expectations of volunteers with opportunities and needs in relation to CAFOD’s plans for parishioners and children & young people
• Ensure each volunteer is appropriately inducted, briefed, trained and resourced
• Increase and ensure volunteer retention through induction, support, affirmation and effective management of the volunteer throughout their involvement with CAFOD
• Organize and promote volunteer meetings and training opportunities to be delivered either by national programme teams or self or members of her/his regional team
• Ensure volunteer records are accurate and up to date on the database.

Managing relationships

• Build and maintain key relationships including with priests, advisers, school staff and others within a diocese as determined in the regional plan. Be point of contact with the local Bishop.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with diocesan communications officers and press and be a point of contact for local broadcast and print media, to increase opportunities for Catholics to hear about CAFOD’s work, working with and through media volunteers where possible.

• Contribute to the development and delivery of a regional plan across a number of dioceses in support of the annual participation plans and appropriate for local contexts
• Achieve targets for increasing parishioner and children & young people participation primarily through recruitment and retention of volunteers and working with clergy, religious, diocesan and parish advisers and administrators etc.

Managing volunteers

• Be the local volunteer manager in a specific diocese or dioceses
• Hold the relationship with, and coordinate the work of, a number of volunteers in order to achieve the annual participation plan in the region
• Contribute to increasing the number and activity of parish and school volunteers and volunteer co-ordinators in line with the regional team plan
• Contribute to the development of volunteering opportunities and volunteer leadership
• Match the offers, skills, experiences and expectations of volunteers with opportunities and needs in relation to CAFOD’s plans for parishioners and children & young people
• Ensure each volunteer is appropriately inducted, briefed, trained and resourced
• Increase and ensure volunteer retention through induction, support, affirmation and effective management of the volunteer throughout their involvement with CAFOD
• Organise and promote volunteer meetings and training opportunities to be delivered either by national programme teams or self or members of her/his regional team
• Ensure volunteer records are accurate and up to date on the database.

Managing relationships

• Build and maintain key relationships, including with priests, advisers, school staff and others within a diocese as determined in the regional plan. Be point of contact with the local Bishop.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with diocesan communications officers and press and be a point of contact for local broadcast and print media, to increase opportunities for Catholics to hear about CAFOD’s work, working with and through media volunteers where possible.

All staff are expected:

• To attend and contribute to regular Team, Group and CAFOD-wide meetings and briefings
• To participate in training and other activities as requested by the line manager
• To work as a supportive member of the team, providing cover for and training of other team members and volunteers as required

Job Title: Money & Energy Adviser

Reports to: Money & Energy Advice Service Lead

Home based with travel across the South West region as required – one post.

Hours: 35 hpw (full time) Monday to Friday. Hours to be agreed with successful candidate. Must be sufficiently flexible to work irregular hours as demanded by the requirements of the post

Contract: Full fixed term contract, ending 31 March 2026. Extension subject securing future funding.

To deliver money and energy advice service for kidney patients struggling with their energy and water bills and other costs of living challenges. You will provide subject matter expert support within our Patient Support Services team, and will work closely with our Patient Support & Advocacy Officers to develop and grow this service in your area.

Summary
To raise awareness of the service and build strong relationships with kidney patients, professionals, and other kidney stakeholder groups in your defined geographic region.

Key responsibilities
• With support, establish the Kidney Care UK Money & Energy Advice Service in the region for patients and carers at risk of fuel poverty to access independent support on money and energy matters
• Responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the Money & Energy Advice Service across the region, effectively managing an ongoing caseload
• Provide practical advice to patients, assessing their needs and identifying sources of support to resolve financial, practical and psychosocial challenges.

• Activities will include creating budget plans, completing income maximisation checks and benefit claims, carrying out switching exercises and Home Energy Surveys (this is not an exclusive list of tasks)
• Responsible for identifying cases where FSA approved advice is required, and supporting patients in the referral of their case to our approved partner organisation or other appropriate regional/national services

• Act as a gateway to local information and access to:

• Kidney Care UK Patient Grants service, raising awareness of the service and supporting applications
• Kidney Care UK Patient Support & Advocacy Service, to ensure patients have access to reliable and accurate patient information relating to kidney disease, patient pathways, models of care, and patient choice
• Kidney Care UK Counselling Service and other appropriate services to meet patients’ emotional and physiological needs

• Work closely with local Kidney Care UK Patient Support & Advocacy Officers to ensure that patients receive expert advice in all areas of need, with smooth, effective handovers ensuring that patients feel supported and part of the Kidney Care UK ‘family’ at all times
• Maintain records on the Kidney Care UK database to support service delivery and communications with patients, and facility effective reporting to Kidney Care UK and our funders
• Raise awareness of Kidney Care UK and the benefit of its full range of Patient Support Services amongst kidney patients, their families, carers and professionals across the region
• Provide insight on patients’ concerns and unmet needs to inform Kidney Care UK research, campaigns, and new service development activity
