Job description

We are thrilled to welcome a Marketing Manager to work alongside our Operational Director at a pivotal time for our charity.

After a challenging period of inactivity due to the impacts of Covid, we are excited to embark on a new chapter, as we are ready to restart our activities in 2025 and to develop our projects and create a positive impact in our community.

This is a unique opportunity for those eager to be part of a project evolving from its early stages to the launching of new initiatives. The volunteer will have ample opportunity to learn about charity structure, develop skills within the third sector, grow with the charity and see the results of their work as the charity develops.

What this position entails

The Marketing Manager will be responsible for formulating our marketing strategy, creating content, and managing the brand, while also laying a solid marketing foundation for the organisation.

Collaborating with the operational director, the manager will lead the crafting of our organisational strategic plan to implement marketing initiatives. This role involves developing our brand, enhancing communication and our online visibility, as well as providing robust support to the fundraising team in reaching our fundraising objectives by optimising digital presence, events and grant applications.

The ideal candidate should be capable of working autonomously, leading all facets of our marketing efforts, and managing a team. We seek a professional with experience in start-ups who can develop a brand from its inception and navigate budget limitations using free tools.

A key aspect of this position is the ability to strategically oversee and assist with marketing our fundraising events, which will take place during the summer months, as such experience with events is essential.

What do you need to become our Marketing Manager?

Commitment:

The estimate of time needed is 4 to 6 hours a week, and we welcome those volunteers that can offer more, although it is not a requirement for the role.

We can be flexible and work with you to find hours that fit ours and your schedule, including out-of-office hours and weekends- all help is much appreciated!

As a volunteer-led charity, we prioritise volunteers who want to become part of our operational team rather than those looking for a temporary assignment, as this role will involve a substantial amount of leadership. Therefore, we won’t accept applications from volunteers who cannot commit to at least 5-6 months with us.

The Islington Centre for Refugees and Migrants currently has volunteering opportunities from late April/early May available for our online English lessons.

The CHPI is a close-knit and committed group of people supporting an organisation that reflects our values. We meet every other month, face to face or online to support the director and oversee the governance of the organisation.

At Options for Life, we believe everyone has the right to live a fulfilled and independent life. We are a Sandwell based charity that supports adults with learning disabilities and/or autism to build confidence, learn new skills, access their communities, and make informed choices about their lives.

With two purpose-built centres and over 65 staff, we provide a wide range of services, from outreach and hub-based activities to supported community access and drop-in sessions. Our work takes place in one of England’s most disadvantaged areas, where our services can make the greatest impact.

Join Our Board as Treasurer

As we plan to expand our reach and develop new services, we are seeking a Treasurer to help guide our financial strategy and governance.

We are looking for someone with a background in finance or accounting, who can:

• Oversee our financial health in collaboration with our Head of Finance and CEO
• Ensure effective financial controls, policies, and reporting are in place
• Play an active role in the Finance Committee and wider Board decision-making
• Present clear and insightful financial information to fellow Trustees

We welcome applicants from all walks of life, including those with lived experience of disability or who are new to governance roles. A strong commitment to inclusion, good judgment, and a collaborative spirit are essential.

Commitment:

• Four Board meetings per year
• AGM and annual strategy/away day
• Quarterly Finance Committee and possible ad hoc sub-committee involvement
• Training and induction provided
• Travel expenses reimbursed

Our work involves using up-and-coming research and advocacy to address issues affecting young people, such as climate change, unemployment and skills training, and inclusion and diversity. Please note that this is a VOLUNTEER role.

Responsibilities may include

• To complete research tasks in line with timelines and agreed deadlines

• To help plan, write, edit and proofread reports, literature reviews and related writings

• To work alongside others in managing a workload, and actively communication 

• To analyse and interpret research data (mainly qualitative, secondary data analysis)

• To support and be accountable to the senior researcher 

• To assist in the design and planning of projects and research work

• To follow ethical guidelines

Requirements: 

• To have knowledge on children’s human rights in the UK and other related areas

• To have experience as a Research Assistant or Researcher or equivalent role in related areas

• Experience in qualitative research methods and secondary data analysis, quantitative experience a plus

• To be able to work well as part of a team and independently
