About TESYouth
TESYouth (Training, Employment Opportunities & Social Development for Youth) is a NFP social enterprise which focuses on improving the rate of youth employment, through volunteering, interactive and skill-based workshops, work-experience and training programmes. Together with our strategic partners, we collaborate with organisations to provide youth to develop their skills, and to assist in achieving their career aspirations.

Sarcoidosis is a rare inflammatory disease which mostly affects the lungs, although other parts of the body such as the heart, eyes and nervous system can also be involved. It is not properly understood and there is currently no known cure.

SarcoidosisUK is a small charity with big ambitions! We want to make a difference to the lives of those affected by sarcoidosis in the UK by providing information and support, raising awareness and undertaking research into treatments and a cure.  We currently support over 9,000 people online and have strong relationships with both clinicians and patients.

We want to enlarge and strengthen our Trustee Board with the recruitment of new trustees who will bring their skills and passion to the work we do. The Trustee Board sets strategic direction for the charity, acts as guardian of our vision and values, and has responsibility for oversight and governance. 

We want our Trustee Board to represent our community, and welcome applications from anyone with an interest in sarcoidosis. To support the growth of the charity we are particularly looking for experience in the following areas:

· Fundraising in the charity sector

· Branding, marketing and communications

· Strategic development

· Community support and engagement

The Board is friendly and informal and meets online early evening each month for no more than 2 hours. We have a small staff team, currently 3 in number, and therefore Trustees may be asked to provide direct input and expertise on occasion. ROLE DESCRIPTION AND HOW TO APPLY

Key Responsibilities

To advise, govern, oversee policy and direction and assist with the leadership and general promotion of We Are Family to support the organisation’s vision, mission, values and needs.

• Contract: two years unless agreed otherwise on appointment. The Chair is eligible for re-election within their overall period of appointment as a Trustee.
• Hours: circa 8-10 hours per month (including evening meetings)

• Location: Remote (UK-based), twice yearly in-person meetings in London

Commitment

• Chair 4 Board meetings per year
• Attend 4 Sub-Committee meetings per year
• Help plan and chair 2 Board away days per year (on a Saturday)

Board and committee meetings are held in the evening via Zoom and dates of meetings are distributed a year in advance. The away days are held in person in central London.

Skills and knowledge

• Skills or experience in strategic planning, setting targets and monitoring and evaluating performance;
• Good organisational and communication (written and oral) skills;
• Proven track record in senior governance roles;
