About the Role

Are you looking to build experience in HR, recruitment, and administration while working for something meaningful to the community?

WFRC is seeking a proactive and organised HR Admin (Onsite Volunteer) to support our growing team. You’ll play a key role in helping us attract, screen, and onboard volunteers, ensuring we have the right people in place to support families in need.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in HR operations, talent acquisition, and coordination within a charity environment.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Talent Support

• Post volunteer and role advertisements across platforms
• Screen applications and shortlist candidates
• Coordinate interviews with hiring managers
• Conduct initial screening calls (if required)

HR Administration

• Maintain applicant tracking systems and recruitment records
• Update spreadsheets and manage candidate data
• Ensure accurate and organised documentation

Onboarding & Coordination

• Support onboarding of new volunteers and team members
• Share SOPs, guidelines, and onboarding materials
• Assist with system access and documentation processes

Process & Reporting

• Follow structured recruitment workflows
• Provide regular updates on recruitment progress
• Support continuous improvement of HR processes

What We’re Looking For

• Interest in HR, recruitment, or administration
• Good written and verbal communication
• Basic knowledge of Google Sheets / Excel / Drive
• Ability to handle confidential information professionally
• Reliable, proactive, and detail-oriented

The Women & Families Resource Centre (WFRC) is a registered charity based in Wolverhampton that supports, empowers, and advocates for women and children.

We aim to encourage women to become self-reliant by helping them identify their needs, make informed choices, and create their own solutions. Our services include a baby bank, a charity shop, and a range of community support initiatives for women facing crises or challenging circumstances.

Our Wolverhampton Baby Bank is a flagship project supporting families with children aged 0–3 by providing essential items and connecting them to vital community services.

Help4Homeless is a youth-led charity in Peterborough delivering £10 wellbeing packs to people sleeping rough in our city. As our Community Outreach Volunteer, you'll be the eyes and ears of Help4Homeless - heading out into Peterborough to locate rough sleepers, build trusted relationships with them, and report back so we can get packs to the right people at the right time.

No experience needed. Just compassion, reliability, and a genuine desire to help the people in our community who need it most.

What you'll do

• Patrol areas of Peterborough to locate rough sleepers
• Build trusted relationships with people experiencing homelessness
• Report locations and needs to coordinate pack deliveries
• Provide information about available local support services

Requirements

• Age 16 or older
• Must live or work locally in Peterborough
• Willing to undergo background checks

What we're looking for

• Compassion and empathy for people in difficult circumstances
• Good communication skills - comfortable talking to strangers
• Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently

Time commitment

Flexible scheduling based on your availability. Most volunteers contribute 2–4 hours per week, but we can work around your schedule. Evening and weekend opportunities are available.

Help4Homeless is seeking experienced professionals to join our Management Committee (also known as Trustee) and provide strategic governance for our youth-led charity. Committee members guide our direction, ensure proper governance, and help us make informed decisions that maximise our impact.

This is genuinely low commitment. No operational responsibilities, no fundraising targets, no hands-on delivery — just strategic governance and decision-making. One hour a month, and we mean it.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in monthly governance meetings (online or in person)
• Contribute to strategic decision-making and policy development
• Provide expert guidance in your area of professional expertise
• Ensure compliance with charity governance requirements

What we're looking for

• Professionals with business, legal, or financial experience
• People who care about homelessness and want to make a difference
• Good judgement and common sense
• Charity board experience and local Peterborough connections are a bonus

Time commitment

One monthly meeting (1 hour) plus around 10 minutes of reading beforehand. Optionally, join our annual strategy day (2 hours, free lunch included). No hidden obligations.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

Our Wandsworth Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

Volunteering in the shop

Mary's Living & Giving for Save the Children is unique - a vibrant result of the generous gifts of local individuals and companies being turned around by the skills and passions of volunteer teams, to create a destination retail experience. Selling womenswear, menswear, shoes, and bags to household goods, our shops can be found in the London villages and bring in vital funds for Save the Children.

Our East Dulwich Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied. We would also love to hear from people willing to volunteer on Sundays.

Skills and experiences we seek

We welcome applications from people with a wide range of skills and experiences. You don’t need any retail or shop experience as full training will be provided. What’s important to us is that you are a team player, open to learning and to follow our policies as well as be an excellent representative for Save the Children. 

We know that our shop teams are stronger when they are inclusive and representative of their communities. Everybody can make a real difference. People come to us for all sorts of reasons, from all backgrounds, and we will do what we can to find a role that works for you.

What happens next?

After you’ve filled in an application, we will invite you for an informal trial shift. It’s a great opportunity to visit the shop, meet some of our existing volunteers and have a go at some of the tasks that you would be supporting with as a shop volunteer. Hopefully allowing you to get a feel for the role and make sure it’s for you. We also ask for a couple of references (these don’t have to be formal workplace ones, just someone who has known you for over 6 months and isn’t related).

We are looking for a Volunteer Researcher / Guest Relations Officer to support our Podcast Production Team.

This role combines research, guest outreach, and communication to ensure podcast episodes are well prepared and guests feel informed and supported.

Key Responsibilities

• Research podcast topics and relevant background information
• Identify and approach potential podcast guests
• Communicate with confirmed guests and coordinate availability
• Prepare guest briefing notes and episode research summaries
• Maintain organised records of guest communication
• Support respectful and professional guest engagement

Who We're Looking For

Essential

• Strong research and information-gathering skills
• Clear written communication
• Strong organisational skills
• Ability to manage multiple conversations and tasks
• Comfortable working with sensitive topics

Bonus Skills

• Experience in research, journalism, communications, or outreach
• Experience working with communities or social impact organisations
• Interest in media, podcasting, or storytelling

Formal qualifications are not required — relevant experience or transferable skills are welcome.
