We are looking for a Community Engagement & Accountability Officer who is responsible for assisting in the implementation of integration activities and projects and ensuring that the needs and opinions of Second Tree community members are used to guide our work.

Your role would include:

• Creating timelines and coordinating plans for community engagement events

• Summarising relevant data collection in reports and project deliverables

• Communicating with community members and building trusting relationships

• Managing the organisation of proposals and other documents created by the CEA team

• Maintaining necessary records, files, reports, databases, and resource materials for the CEA team

• Researching information and gathering data necessary for community reporting

• Working with the wider Second Tree team to ensure that all community engagement events and projects align with organisational and programme strategies

• Supporting the CEA team by ensuring good levels of engagement with the community during activities and projects.

You should be able to:

• Be flexible with changing approaches and processes dependent on adjusting needs and contexts

• Take initiative and show high motivation

• Oversee the delivery of program activities and the completion of vital administrative and logistical tasks

• Be accountable and efficient, making sure that tasks that you take up are completed in the agreed timeframe

• Training in facilitating focus groups and interviews;

• Knowledge of European projects and deliverables

This role involves supporting at a range of events to help raise money and awareness to tackle the housing emergency. It’s a really flexible opportunity. Once you’re signed up, we’ll let you know about upcoming events and tasks, and you can decide which you’d like to do.

Location: Sheffield

Suggested contribution: It’s up to you! Ideally, you’d help out at least 4-5 times per year, but this is flexible.

• Represent us at a range of events including, community fairs, gigs, Pride marches, sporting events and street stalls.

This role fights the housing emergency by raising funds that enable Shelter to provide advice and support and campaigning for change. The events you’ll be attending are also great for raising awareness of the housing emergency and how people can get involved to help tackle it.

Key tasks

1.  Audience & planning

○ Define priority audiences and what genuinely motivates each of them to turn up.

○ Own the marketing calendar, mapped to the programme, event and fundraising calendars.

○ Set and publish targets: reach, sign-ups, attendance and return rate.

2.  Campaign execution

○ Build campaign plans with objective, audience, message, channels and timeline.

○ Write clear briefs for Creative, Video and Social, with realistic lead times.

○ Manage paid promotion within budget, and adjust mid-campaign on what the numbers say.

3.  Measurement

○ Track performance against target daily while a campaign is live.

○ Run post-campaign reviews with honest conclusions.

○ Own analytics, CRM data quality and GDPR compliance for marketing communications.

4.  Coordination

Activity

The aim of social and activity groups is to help improve the quality of life older people who are socially isolated and may only get out to this activity. Volunteers helping in our social groups assist with providing group members with the support they need to join in the activity, including working one to one with an older person to help them enjoy the activity, serve refreshments, and help people with activities. For example some weeks you might help a member enjoy a craft activity, or participate in a board game.
