We are looking for our next Chair of Trustees – someone who will work closely with our Executive Team and Board to guide the organisation through what is both a challenging and genuinely exciting time. The funding environment is tough. The political context is difficult. And yet the need for what we do has never been greater.

This is an unpaid voluntary role. Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with our Volunteer Expenses Policy.

The successful candidate will lead a vibrant, well-established, national charity as it navigates the next chapter of its story.

Main tasks

• Developing and setting our future strategy, alongside the Executive Team and other Trustees
• Helping shape and deliver our future, identifying opportunities in an evolving landscape
• Leading the Board of Trustees, including regular 1:1s and providing space for reflection
• Acting as a 'critical friend' to our Executive Team, as well as formal line management to the CEO (and COO in their absence)

About Circular Kitchens

Circular Kitchens is a social enterprise and membership platform designed to help restaurants, cafés, pubs, food stalls, and other catering businesses become fully circular: Plastic Free, Ecological, Local, and Zero Waste.

By working with the hospitality sector, we are helping regenerate local communities, strengthen regional food systems, and increase demand for ecological and regenerative agriculture in the UK. Our current focus is launching Circular Kitchens in Whitstable and supporting our first mover restaurants to achieve 3 Star Circular Kitchens certification. Based on learnings from this pilot, we are preparing to scale across the UK, growing our environmental and social impact.

Role Description

We are seeking a volunteer to support our development of a sustainable wholesale products database. This role will involve researching products that restaurants use (e.g. paper napkins, take-away containers, condiments) and ranking them using our scoring system. The aim is to remove uncertainty from sustainable procurement, helping our members make responsible decisions and avoid purchasing from companies engaged in greenwashing.

As the scoring system is built, this role is primarily a data entry position that requires some research skills and strong attention to detail.

An Ideal Candidate Will Be:

Senior Data Scientist with Python skills

At betterSoil, we are building a digital solution, the betterSoil Farm Assistant, to support sustainable agriculture using data, satellite insights, and science-based recommendations. We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to help us take this product to the next level.

Your Role

You will support the development and improvement of our Farm Assistant, working on data models, AI integration, and analytical logic that translates complex data into actionable insights for farmers.

What you’ll do

• Develop and improve data models and analytical frameworks for the Farm Assistant
• Work with Python and data pipelines to process and analyse agricultural and environmental data
• Apply and experiment with AI tools (e.g. Gemini, LLMs, ML models) to enhance recommendations and user value
• Translate satellite, weather, and soil data into meaningful outputs

Position Summary
The M&E Assistant (Analysis) shall be  responsible for transforming raw field data into actionable insights. This role manages the project database, ensuring all data is entered correctly and analyzed to track progress against KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).

Key Responsibilities

• Data Entry: Accurately input data from physical forms into the central Management Information System (MIS).
• Cleaning & Validation: Identify and resolve inconsistencies, missing values, or outliers in the dataset.
• Statistical Analysis: Run descriptive and inferential analyses to measure project impact.

M&E Officer (Data Collection)

Position Summary
The M&E Officer (Data Collection) will lead the design and execution of all primary data collection activities. This role ensures that data gathered from the field is accurate, timely, and reflective of project indicators. You will be the bridge between the office and the field sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Tool Development: Design and pre-test digital and paper-based data collection tools (ODK, KoboToolbox, or SurveyCTO).
• Field Supervision: Lead field teams and enumerators during household surveys, focus group discussions (FGDs), and routine monitoring visits.
• Data Quality Assurance: Conduct "spot checks" and back-checks on collected data to ensure authenticity and minimize bias.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate with local district leaders and community members across Uganda to facilitate smooth field operations.

Requirements

In preparation for our International Biodiversity Arts Exhibtion, we are seeking volunteer support from a reliable and trustworthy person who wishes to gain experience working for an environmental arts social enterprise. 

This is a remote role for a UK based person who is able to populate application information from spreadsheets into our online gallery inventory within a programme called Kunstmatrix.

The volunteer will also be able to prepare word documents of name and artwork labels to feature in our physical gallery.

The work required should take the volunteer between 5 - 15 hours, depending upon how quickly they can work. Prior to starting work, the volunteer will be able to meet for a video call at a time convenient to them and Insecta Collective director Elizabeth.

The work can be undertaken at any time of day, on any day of the week, providing it is completed within the specified deadline given when the volunteer meeting takes place.

In return for volunteer hours, the volunteer can enter their artwork into our open call exhibition for free. They will also recieve a certificate for their time and dedication.

Herts Domestic Abuse Helpline is a registered charity led by a Board of Trustees.

The Trustees (all unpaid volunteers) act individually and collectively, to provide overall stewardship of the charity, in accordance with our governing document and relevant legislation. In essence we look after the staff, volunteers and the organisation, so they can support the community.

You don’t need specific qualifications or experience to be a trustee and we welcome people of all ages, backgrounds and experience.

As a Dependency & Recovery Support Volunteer, you’ll work closely with our Dependency and Recovery Coordinators and partner agencies based at Kitts Green probation office to deliver tailored support to adult males on probation. Your role will include:

• Assisting with drug and alcohol interventions
• Encouraging motivation and goal-setting
• Supporting individuals to reduce substance misuse and offending behaviour
