VOLUNTEER: Chair of the Board of Trustees
SUNSHINE Charity — Bringing positivity, human connection, community and belonging across London
SUNSHINE Charity is a vibrant, 100% volunteer‑powered start-up movement dedicated to bringing SUNSHINE into people’s lives . We aim to help smash loneliness and social isolation by creating welcoming opportunities to connect, participate, learn, volunteer, make friends and feel like that people belong.
Why We Need You
SUNSHINE is growing into our next chapter — fast. Our programmes, events and volunteer opportunities are about to get starting up across London.
But our Founder, who has been carrying the charity forward with enormous heart and energy, now needs to step back from leading the board, to focus on the operational aspects of the charity. He will remain as Vice Chair, offering support, continuity and passion — but we need a new Chair who can confidently take the reins.
Our current trustees are passionate, committed and enthusiastic, but apart from the Founder, they are new to trusteeship. We need someone who can:
Lead with clarity
Mentor with patience
Govern with confidence
Inspire with warmth
And help shape a board that reflects SUNSHINE’s culture of positivity, connection, community and belonging
If you’re an experienced trustee or former Chair who loves developing people, strengthening governance and building a thriving board culture — this role is made for you.
What You’ll Do
As Chair of SUNSHINE Charity, you will:
Provide strong, steady leadership to a developing board.
Support the Founder (now Vice Chair).
Ensure excellent governance and strategic oversight.
Drive momentum, accountability and positive culture.
Champion SUNSHINE’s mission and values internally and externally.
Help shape a charity that is 100% volunteer-powered and community-focused.
You’ll be joining a charity where kindness is a superpower, community is everything, and every volunteer helps bring SUNSHINE into people’s lives.
Time Commitment
We keep things simple, structured and manageable.
Board meetings: Every 3rd Monday, 7–9pm
Working groups: Light involvement between meetings
Total commitment: Around 4 hours per month
This is a role designed for someone who wants to make a meaningful difference without an overwhelming time burden.
Who We’re Looking For
You’ll thrive in this role if you are:
An experienced trustee or Chair.
Confident in governance, leadership and board development.
Warm, encouraging and people-focused.
Skilled at mentoring newer trustees.
Passionate about tackling loneliness and building community.
Energised by SUNSHINE’s culture of positivity, human connection, community and belonging.
What You’ll Gain
The chance to lead a charity with huge heart and huge potential.
A close, collaborative relationship with the Founder/Vice Chair.
The opportunity to shape a board, culture and movement.
The joy of helping people feel connected, valued and part of a community.
A role where your experience will genuinely change lives.
Ready to Bring Your Light to SUNSHINE?
If you’re a seasoned trustee who wants to help build a joyful, human, community-powered charity — we’d love to hear from you.
Help us bring connection, community and belonging to London.
COME SHINE WITH US.

RANGER CADETS — DEPUTY CHIEF RANGER (VOLUNTEER ROLE)
Stand beside the Chief Ranger. Build the organisation. Shape the future.
Ranger Cadets is a new, independent, inclusive youth organisation with a bold mission: prepare young people aged 11–21 for life through service, community, skills and positive leadership.
We’re launching something fresh. Something modern. Something meaningful. A uniformed youth organisation built on values, not hierarchy. On community, not competition. On leadership, not labels.
To make this vision real, the Chief Ranger needs a partner — a second‑in‑command with heart, drive, clarity and purpose.
If you’re someone who thrives in start‑up energy… If you love building systems, teams and culture… If you want to help shape a youth organisation from day one… This role is for you.
THE VOLUNTEER ROLE: Be the Chief Ranger’s Right Hand — and a Leader in Your Own Right
As Deputy Chief Ranger, you will help lead the entire organisation. You will be part strategist, part organiser, part motivator, part culture‑builder.
You will:
Support the Chief Ranger in leading the organisation day‑to‑day
Help build our first units, volunteers and youth leadership pathways
Shape the culture, values and identity of Ranger Cadets
Oversee early programme delivery and ensure quality across units
Support community partnerships and public engagement
Help design systems that make the organisation safe, inclusive and effective
Be a visible leader at events, activities and community projects
Mentor volunteers and youth leaders as the organisation grows
This is a leadership role with real influence. You won’t just support the Chief Ranger — you’ll help build the organisation alongside them.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

RANGER CADETS — CURRICULUM & PROGRAMME LEAD (VOLUNTEER ROLE)
Shape the programme. Shape the future. Help young people become leaders.
Ranger Cadets is a youth organisation with a simple mission: prepare young people aged 11–21 for life through service, community, skills and positive leadership.
We’re independent. We’re inclusive. We’re volunteer‑powered. And right now, we’re building something special — a programme that gives young people confidence, purpose, and real opportunities to contribute to their community.
To make that happen, we need a Curriculum & Programme Lead who can turn our mission into a powerful, engaging, life‑changing youth programme.
If you’ve ever wanted to design something meaningful… If you’ve ever wanted to build a youth programme from the ground up… If you believe young people deserve opportunities, not obstacles… This is your moment.
THE VOLUNTEER ROLE: Build the Ranger Cadets Programme from Day One
As our Curriculum & Programme Lead, you will be the architect of everything our cadets experience — from weekly sessions to skills modules, leadership development, and community service projects.
You will:

Build skills modules around leadership, teamwork, communication, community service and practical life skills
Create cadet progression pathways (Recruit → Cadet → Senior Cadet → Corporal → Sergeant)
Develop community service projects that make a real impact
Support Youth Leaders with session plans, training and resources
Ensure every activity reflects our values: service, community, inclusivity, positive leadership
Help shape a programme that young people will be proud to be part of
This is not a paperwork role. This is a creative, strategic, youth‑impact role.

This is an ideal opportunity for anybody keen to get first-hand experience of the inspiring and exciting small charitable and community sector in London.
In the first instance, you will be working with our grants manager, appraising grant applications, visiting applicants and preparing reports on applicant suitability for consideration by the board, including a recommendation as to whether to make the grant or not. This is your opportunity to get to grips with the thriving community sectors in Ealing, Hounslow and Hillingdon and it is your judgement which will determine who is to receive funds.
Full training will be given and you will be able to shadow our grants manager in her work until you feel comfortable enough to take on your own cases.
As the role develops, you may, if you choose, get involved in our advice-giving, training and research activities. We are a fast-growing charity with ambitious plans, so this is your chance to get involved in our exciting activities right from the start.
The role would ideally suit someone who works part-time as during certain periods of the year (our grant rounds), you will be working 1-2 days a week.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
