Role: Unpaid volunteer position

Purpose: To safeguard vulnerable adults accessing our services and address any potential safeguarding referrals that we receive within and outside of the organisation. The Safeguarding Team Volunteer will contribute to the completion of risk assessments for beneficiaries wishing to access our services, and complete incident logs for escalation to DSL/Deputy DSL where required. 

This role requires an Enhanced Adult DBS - please only apply if you meet the requirements for a DBS check to be carried out (a 5 year UK address history with a maximum of 12 months abroad AND a biometric passport/ID card for an online ID check).  

Key Responsibilities

Safeguarding Case Management

• Act as a point of contact for safeguarding concerns within the charity and its beneficiaries.

• Respond to incidents and complete escalations where appropriate.

Risk Assessment & Policy Oversight

• Manage risk assessment case load, ensuring high standards of safeguarding is maintained.

• Be involved in the review and updating of AuDHD UK’s Safeguarding Framework and related policies.

Compliance & Governance

• Maintain accurate and confidential safeguarding records.

• Contribute to audits, reviews, and continuous improvement activities.

Training & Awareness

• Promote a culture of vigilance, accountability, and reflective practice.

Time Commitment Estimate

A bit about this role

As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Will you share your counselling or psychotherapy skills as a counsellor or therapist to join an online counselling service for patients and families affected by a chronic pain condition (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome)?

We're looking for 3 qualified counsellors, psychotherapists or psychologists volunteers ideally with some experience of working with chronic pain patients or lived experience of chronic illness, who may want to volunteer their skills supporting our adult service users (aged 18 & over) and help us to continue developing a mental health support service. 

As a Volunteer Counsellor/Therapist you’ll be providing remote counselling/therapy support services to adults aged 18 and over many of whom are isolated and in need of mental health services. You’ll be providing one-to-one counselling/therapy sessions online via Zoom or by phone. With your recognised counselling qualifications and experience you will be an asset to our small charity and to our services users.  

Depending on your qualifications, skills and experience, our volunteer counsellors / therapists provide person centred counselling (general talking counselling) or integrative counselling, or specialist services such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), ACT, CFT and EMDR for CRPS patients, or their families & close relatives.

People will be referred both by health or legal professionals as well as having patients and carers themselves referring into to the service.

In this role you’ll be able to develop your counselling and therapy skills, organisation, communication and team working skills.

Most importantly you’ll be providing essential services that help make sure no one has to face CRPS alone. Be the hope for CRPS.

What the role involves

This role may vary depending on needs, but is likely to include:

• Undertake client assessments following triage by Clinical Lead, followed by counselling / therapy (via Zoom or phone) to our clients, offering up to 20 sessions for each client plus a check in and 4 psychometric assessments

• Providing one-to-one counselling sessions to clients aged 18 & over

• Update our database with the client’s information, sessional notes and session attendance

• Maintain succinct, relevant session notes and store these confidentially and securely in acccordahce with GDPR

• Attending and participating in monthly group supervision support of 1.5 hours a month

• Attend CPD training to ensure your knowledge stays current

• Participating in volunteer meetings
• Maintaining client confidentiality, upholding data protection and equal opportunities principles

We can support you to develop the skills you need for this role, including a full induction. You will have a chance to discuss your role and any additional needs with us. We can offer you a supervisor as well as expenses for annual insurance and an external supervisor if required.

What you need for this role

Essential

• Be a member (including student membership) of one of the recognised membership organisations (see below)
• Level 4 Diploma level qualifications as a minimum (unfortunately no students at this time), Degree or Masters in Counselling, Counselling/Clinical Psychology, Psychotherapy, Art Therapy, EMDR 
• Minimum of 100 hours supervised
• Proof of professional indemnity insurance annually - we may consider paying this as an expense but commitment to the charity is required
• A valid DBS certificate (enhanced version), which is less than three years old and renewed every three years (the charity can provide where necessary)
• Able to keep people’s personal data safe

• Willing and able to provide counselling via Zoom from a private location with a stable WiFi connection

• Able to support a minimum of 3 clients a week, being three hours of your time for therapy sessions plus time for administration and attending group supervision for 1.5 hours a month. We ideally hope you to offer the charity a minimum commitment of six months.

He loves doing jigsaws, reading gardening magazines, and watching television. This is a “stop and stay” role where you’ll spend relaxed, quality time together helping with a jigsaw, sharing quiet moments, and offering companionship.

This is a Stop and Stay visit role, meaning that the person you’ll be visiting might have some verbal communication skills or they use sounds and/or facial/body expressions to communicate with you.fr

We offer a lifelong befriending service for adults with learning disabilities. Matching the skills and interests of passionate visitors with the specific hobbies and interests of the people we visit. Visitors visit six times a year to create a 1-2-1 connection, offer companionship, encourage people to do the things they enjoy and check-in on their wellbeing. In many cases, the visitor is the only person in someone’s life who isn’t paid to be there for them.

Your volunteer manager will be happy to help you with ideas and suggestions for things you can do. Visits will vary in length but tend to be around half an hour to an hour long.

Job Purpose

The Volunteer Central Operations Director serves as the operational backbone of the organisation, ensuring departments, projects, and volunteer teams work efficiently, meet deadlines, and deliver measurable outcomes.

The role oversees project delivery, performance monitoring, reporting systems, KPI tracking, volunteer accountability, and cross-department coordination, helping turn organisational vision into effective execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate organisational operations across all volunteer departments.
• Manage the Central Operations Team, including Analysts, Coordinators, and Assistants.
• Oversee project delivery, ensuring milestones, deadlines, and objectives are achieved.
• Monitor organisational performance, identify risks and bottlenecks, and implement solutions.
• Establish accountability systems, workflows, reporting processes, and operational procedures.
• Develop and maintain KPI dashboards, departmental scorecards, and performance reports.
• Track volunteer engagement, project progress, fundraising outcomes, and organisational impact.
• Facilitate communication and collaboration between departments.
• Lead operational meetings and support monthly performance reviews.
• Produce reports, risk assessments, and recommendations for senior leadership.
• Support implementation of organisational priorities and strategic initiatives.
• Mentor department leaders and promote volunteer engagement, wellbeing, and retention.
• Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Skills & Experience

• Experience leading teams, projects, programmes, or organisational operations.
• Strong project management, organisational, and planning skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate cross-functional teams.
• Experience developing systems, processes, KPIs, dashboards, and reporting frameworks.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience building stakeholder relationships and facilitating collaboration.
• Ability to motivate, support, and manage volunteers and team leaders.
• High levels of professionalism, integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
• Comfortable working independently within a remote environment.
• Proficiency with tools such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Trello, Asana, ClickUp, Airtable, Notion, Slack, and Teams.
• Experience in charities, CICs, volunteer-led organisations, operations management, programme management, or community development is desirable.
• Understanding of trauma-informed, survivor-led, or social impact organisations is beneficial.

If so, St Giles is looking for a Lived Experienced Peer Volunteer to join our team and provide interventions and build meaningful, peer-led relationships with service users to encourage them to engage in drug and alcohol treatment following arrest.

About this key role

As a Peer Volunteer, you will increase client engagement with drug and alcohol treatment services by providing vital peer-led support and building trust and motivation among a client group that has been historically disengaged/not offered support previously.  You will provide holistic, short-term intervention to bridge the gap between referral and full treatment engagement, capture client experiences and barriers to improve service design and accessibility and develop a strong service user voice to inform future service improvements.

Areas of support from Peer Volunteers may also include initial engagement and motivation such as welcome calls, check-ins, peer-led conversations and motivational chats over coffee.  You may also offer practical support such as appointment reminders, transport assistance and paperwork support, plus help to build positive routines such as activity-based engagement and supporting small lifestyle changes, including meal planning, budgeting, and time management.

What we are looking for

• Personal experience of the criminal justice system or lived experience of the issues facing this client group (i.e. experience of substance misuse and recovery)
• Proven experience of working in a high intensity environment, being self-motivating, with an ability to effectively manage your own wellbeing
• Knowledge of the issues facing those arrested for potential criminal offences
• Knowledge of, and commitment to, safeguarding practices and policies
• The ability to use monitoring systems to record all aspects of the work
• Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills, verbal and written.
