The Role

The Supporting Chapter Manager provides support to Chapter that are deemed to be struggling. They should assess chapters frequently to ensure they have a clear awareness of what a chapter requires support, in addition to input from other Trustees. They will then provide hands on support to the struggling chapters with focus on recruitment, events and costumes.

Action Tutoring is a national education charity that offers free maths and English tutoring to pupils facing disadvantage. 

By volunteering as a tutor at a local school or online, you'll be supporting children to build their confidence and help ensure they leave school with the grades needed to build a bright future.

What will I be doing?

• Tutoring 1-3 pupils in Year 5 or 6, or Year 7, 10 or 11.

• Commit to one hour a week, for up to 20 weeks. You choose the day and time to sign up to.

• Use our tutor workbooks to guide your pupils through activities that will boost their confidence and grades.

Community Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers (CARAS) is a registered charity that has been supporting refugees and asylum-seekers since 2002 empowering them to integrate and engage in the local community.

About the CARAS ESOL Team:

Our ESOL team offer English language classes to adults at a wide range of levels. This provides vital skills, opportunities and social contact and is crucial for enabling people to attend college and access other services in the future.

About the Role: 

CARAS is looking for volunteer ESOL Teaching Assistants to support our online Zoom classes on Monday mornings: 

• ESOL Entry 2+ level: 1:30am to 2:30pm (plus a 10-minute debrief) 

Please note that ESOL classes do not run during school holidays, and we follow Wandsworth Council term dates.

As a volunteer ESOL Teaching Assistant your role is flexible and varied. It will involve supporting the Adult ESOL Teacher in the delivery of online Zoom classes, as well as providing learners with one-to-one or small-group support. 

Volunteer tasks and responsibilities: 

• Providing learners with one-to-one or small group support within ESOL classes; 

• Helping learners build confidence in digital literacy; 

• Attending and contributing to volunteer debriefs after each session; 

• Making use of any community languages you may know to help students during the class; 

• Working collaboratively as a team and helping to shape the lessons; 

• Supporting people to develop their knowledge and skills, encouraging and inspiring participants to reach their full potential; 

• Assisting participants to recognise and celebrate their achievements; 

• Following CARAS’ confidentiality, safeguarding, health & safety, equal opportunities, data management, online communications and all other policies as relevant.  

Requirements:  

Essential  

• To be 18 years or older; 

• An interest in education and English language teaching; 

• To be non-judgemental and able to engage with people from diverse cultural backgrounds; 

• To be reliable and punctual; 

• Excellent communication skills, especially with people with varying levels of English; 

• The ability to volunteer on Tuesday mornings during Wandsworth term time for a minimum of three months;  

• Able to provide five years’ worth of addresses, and willing to undergo a DBS check; * 

• Able to attend compulsory volunteer induction training (online) general and safeguarding prior to start of role 

• UK resident; has asylum-seeker or refugee status 

*DBS and proof of residency is not necessary if you are a CARAS community member who is more recently arrived in the UK. 

Desirable  

• Knowledge of community languages, such as (including Arabic, Tigrinya, Amharic, Pashto, Dari, Farsi, Kurdish, Somali and Spanish). 

Through volunteering with us you will:

Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

We are a small and friendly team of Trustees who are currently looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join us and become a Trustee for our wonderful charity, Wiltshire Portage. Wiltshire Portage supports families who have children aged birth to school entry with additional needs, empowering parents and carers to help their children to reach their full potential as they transition into school and beyond.

There has been a rise in the number of children who have additional needs over the past few years and research has shown that early intervention is vital in helping these children to develop. At Wiltshire Portage, we have a team of experienced Home Visitors who regularly visit families who have young children with additional needs. During visits, Home Visitors identify areas of support that are needed and deliver child-led learning activities through play. Having a child with additional needs can be challenging and Home Visitors are also able to support parents and carers; providing information and sign posting them to organisations who can help.

As a charity, Wiltshire Portage relies on a team of Trustees to work with the CEO in the running of the charity. Trustees are asked to attend a meeting (this is currently carried out virtually) once every two months in the evening. Training wil be given to first time Trustees and we welcome applicants from a diverse background of knoweldge.

Popham Kidney Support’s counselling service provides individual counselling to clients who are kidney patients and parents /carers who are affected by kidney disease

Working in a confidential setting counsellors provide nondirective support to clients in exploring feelings, anxieties and life events that impact on their emotional wellbeing.

Through this process clients can feel more empowered to manage their mental health and make positive life changes.

Looking for a way to give back to your local community without a long-term commitment? Not sure exactly what you’d like to do, but know you want to help?

Sometimes we come across one-off community tasks that just need a few volunteers to give us a good old Yorkshire helping hand. We also know life can get very busy and people don’t always have time to commit to a regular volunteering role.

Being a Community Squad volunteer is a flexible way to get involved. You’ll find out when and where one-off tasks are happening near you, and you can choose to help whenever it suits. There’s no ongoing commitment, you’re in control.

Job Summary
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate one to one Youth Mentors to support and guide young individuals in their personal and educational development. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and youth, providing mentorship, and fostering a positive environment. This role is vital in helping young people navigate challenges, build self-esteem, and develop essential life skills.

Duties

• Provide one-on-one mentoring to youth, offering guidance and support tailored to individual needs.
• Meet with your young person once a week for up to 3 hours and go out into the community and do fun activities with them, from going for some food, a walk or a paid activity (expenses will be reimbursed to the volunteer).

• The Treasurer is a member of the GFS Board of Trustees and is responsible for leading the Board’s oversight of the organisation’s financial strategy, governance, and sustainability.
• The Safeguarding Trustee provides strategic leadership and assurance on all aspects of safeguarding across GFS. They ensure that the Board of Trustees fulfils its collective duty to protect all children, young people, and adults at risk who come into contact with GFS’s activities.

The Safeguarding Trustee provides strategic leadership and assurance on all aspects of safeguarding across GFS. They ensure that the Board of Trustees fulfils its collective duty to protect all children, young people, and adults at risk who come into contact with GFS’s activities. Working closely with the Chair, CEO, and Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL), this trustee champions a proactive safeguarding culture built on trust, transparency, and accountability. Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring that the values and mission of GFS are upheld in all of the decisions and decision-making processes of the Board.
• Contributing actively to the Board’s discussions on the strategic plans for GFS and supporting the Leadership Team to implement them.
• Lead the Board’s responsibility for safeguarding and ensure statutory and regulatory obligations are met.
• Review, approve, and monitor safeguarding policies, ensuring they are updated regularly and effectively implemented.
• Provide assurance that safeguarding risks are identified, managed, and escalated appropriately.
• Offer informed scrutiny and constructive challenge to ensure safeguarding remains a strategic priority.
• Receive regular updates from the DSL and senior leadership, and report key issues and learning to the Board.
• Promote awareness, understanding, and accountability for safeguarding across the organisation, including among volunteers and trustees.
• Keep up to date with safeguarding developments, legislation, and best practice in the charity and youth sectors.
• Act as a visible ambassador for safeguarding, attending relevant committees, events, or training sessions as required.

Time Committment

• Board Members serve an initial three-year term and are eligible for reappointment for an additional term.
• Three Virtual Board meetings and an in person in either in Central London or a central city (meetings are currently held on Saturdays).
• Occasional strategy days, workshops or working groups. Quarterly Sub - Committee membership depending on skills and capacity.
• Regular liaison with the Chair and DSL (typically 3–4 times per year).

Join our team to help make sure children, young people and vulnerable adults are always protected and can participate fully in the life of the church.

The Team Safeguarding Officer plays a vital role in building a strong safeguarding culture across our 16 churches. They are the key link between the central Safeguarding Team, local clergy and churches concerning safeguarding matters. They will have an overview of all church activities involving children, young people and vulnerable adults, working closely with Parish Safeguarding Officers to implement safeguarding policy. 

The key aspects of the role are:

• Safeguarding point of contact: Respond well to safeguarding concerns or disclosures and, with the Team Rector or Team Vicars as appropriate, refer them to the Diocesan Safeguarding Team and relevant statutory agencies.

• DBS and training oversight: Ensure staff and volunteers have up-to-date DBS checks and safeguarding training recorded and monitored within the Safeguarding Hub.

• Promote good practice: Uphold Church of England safeguarding policies and guidance 

• Trustee engagement: Keep the Team Council and PCC (Parochial Church Council) members informed about safeguarding developments and risks.

• Compliance and safer recruitment: Use online tools such as Safeguarding Hubs and Dashboards to support compliance.

The role of the Team Safeguarding Officer does not need to be fulfilled by one individual and instead could be shared, with one person taking an outward facing lead (e.g. named point of contact) and another focussing on administrative functions (e.g. managing DBS and training)

About You

We are looking for one or more people who can fulfil some or all of these aspects:

• Approachable and trustworthy, able to listen and respond sensitively to concerns.

• Organised and detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accurate records.

• Committed to safeguarding and willing to champion best practice across the parish.

• Willing to learn online tools such as Safeguarding Hubs and Dashboards.

The role requires an Enhanced Adult & Child DBS with Barring and is subject to the Church of England’s Safer Recruitment process and leadership level safeguarding training. You will be supported by the Diocesan Safeguarding Team, an out of hours service and your local clergy.
