As Fundraising and Communications Manager, you’ll influence strategy while driving hands-on delivery. You will lead and develop our fundraising and communications functions, ensuring they work seamlessly together to increase income and engagement.
You’ll oversee the operational running of these two key areas, line-managing our Fundraiser and Communications Officer, and working closely with the management team to ensure our messaging reflects the impact of our work.

- Leadership

- Ensure all communications reflect best practice in accessibility, inclusivity, and neuro-affirmative language.
- Strategic Collaboration & Governance
- Work closely with the CEO and management team to deliver a fundraising and communications plan that supports CAAS’s strategic objectives.
- Prepare risk management, quality assessment, and process documents to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
- Monitor and evaluate output, outcome, and impact measures across fundraising and communications activities, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Provide written reports as required by the CEO and Board.
You may be required to attend events, so occasional travel is necessary.

You’ll bring experience in marketing, ideally within charity fundraising, with a proven ability to grow income and deliver successful campaigns across multiple channels. You are:

These opportunities make the Marketing & Fundraising Manager position varied and interesting, with plenty of possibility to grow and develop in the role.
Job Purpose:
The Marketing & Fundraising Manager will play a key role in developing and implementing St Hilda’s East’s marketing strategy and will take the lead in organising fundraising events and securing funds from individual donations, and rental and room hire income.
They will lead on communications with external stakeholders through the development and implementation of SHE’s marketing plans and social media strategy. There will be a particular focus on strengthening our unique link with the Guild (alumnae) of Cheltenham Ladies’ College, as well as with parents and pupils of the school – to raise awareness of the impact of St. Hilda’s East and to organise joint events. The postholder will work alongside freelance fundraisers who focus on maximising grant income.
It is not essential to have experience in the non-profit sector; we would love to hear from you if you have experience in sales and marketing in a commercial environment and are looking to bring your talents to the charity sector.

Prospect Research:
- Identify and develop a pipeline of opportunities from grant-giving trusts and foundations.
- Use internal database, online resources, desk research, and contact mapping to identify new funder opportunities.
- Review trusts’ and foundations’ funding criteria to grow the prospect pipeline.
- Develop a thorough understanding of our work and future developments to identify new funding opportunities.
Submitting grant applications:
- Create compelling and persuasive funding appeals.
- Complete grant application forms and follow application processes as required.
- Work closely with colleagues across the Directorate and the wider charity to articulate our work and build strong funding propositions.
Leadership & Relationship Management:
- Lead and manage the Trusts and Philanthropy Executive by developing skills, conducting appraisals and overseeing ongoing development.
- Lead & steward a portfolio of existing charitable trusts and foundations, and cultivate new potential donors, ensuring their support is recognised and celebrated.
- Ensure funders are thanked promptly and that grant terms and conditions are applied.
- Provide progress reports and manage all formal reporting requirements on time.
- Build relationships in person, by phone, email, or virtual meetings to secure long-term commitment.
- Identify opportunities for funders to meet key staff and attend events and site visits that strengthen their relationship with the charity.

Income generation

What the job involves
Our Events and Community Fundraising team raises vital funds for Prostate Cancer UK through a wide range of activities, events and challenge events. As Senior Community Fundraising Executive, you’ll be a key member of our sector-leading team, raising over £5 million each year from individuals organising their own fundraising events and local-level corporate partnerships.
You’ll work closely with the Community Fundraising Manager to identify, test and develop new opportunities across our community fundraising programme, supporting our ambitious five-year strategy and growth plans. You’ll project manage mass-market fundraising campaigns to recruit, convert and inspire community fundraisers, working in partnership with colleagues and external agencies to brief, plan, deliver and evaluate paid marketing activity.
A key part of your role will be to design and own supporter journeys that use innovation, technology and personalisation to deliver an exceptional supporter experience. How and where we work

The focus of the Senior Fundraising Manager role will be to deliver and run the successful fundraising appeals and draws function, delivering against targets of c. £1.25m for 2025/26. Managing a small appeals team within the wider membership function, you will grow our income and innovation in this space, ensuring fundraising best practice principles are adhered to.
Our ideal candidate will be results driven, with an open, curious, intelligent approach to analysis and reporting. You will be able to work successfully in partnership with other teams and departments as well as influence key stakeholders across the organisation. You will be able to demonstrate:
- Substantial professional experience of the project management of appeals and campaigns fundraising gained within a charity or other fundraising organisation including their planning, development, running and evaluation
- Experience of running fundraising appeals or campaigns across a range of channels and running lotteries or draws for fundraising
- Outstanding written communication skills, including the ability to tailor communications for different audiences and media whilst maintaining consistent tone and messaging
- A track record in setting and meeting income targets

About the role
Over the last two consecutive financial years, we have raised approximately £1 million each year – primarily through trusts and foundations, corporate donors, and individual supporters. As the successful candidate, you and the team you lead will play a pivotal role in maintaining this level of fundraising success, ensuring our vital work with young people continues to flourish. This role will involve:
- Reviewing and evaluating our funder qualification processes to ensure donors align with our values and meet our ethical standards.
- Ensuring that detailed research on prospective funding opportunities, including trusts, foundations, corporate partners, HNWIs, are carried out and that plans for making approaches are developed and carefully implemented.
- Initiating, nurturing and maintaining strong relationships with prospective funders and donors.
