We are looking for someone who loves grassroots promotion and storytelling to jump straight in and help us build immediate visibility, rally early supporters, and drive momentum throughout the campaign rollout. Once the campaign concludes, we would love to keep working together on a steady, ongoing basis to support our Substack, social media channels, and community announcements as our new hub opens its doors.
Key Responsibilities:

Reliable, self-driven, and comfortable working remotely.
Experience with crowdfunding or newsletter platforms is a welcome bonus, but proactive energy and dependability matter most.
Time Commitment & Way of Working:
The role is fully remote with regular Zoom catch-ups. Right now, during the launch and active crowdfunder push, we are looking for someone who can contribute from around 6 hours a week upwards, structured flexibly around your schedule. Once the campaign phase finishes, the role transitions to a lighter, steady rhythm (flexible according to your availability) to support ongoing community engagement. If you happen to be based in or around Dorset, you are always welcome to visit and attend in-person events, but being local is not required.
What We Offer:
A meaningful, high-impact role at a defining moment in building an independent community literary venue.
Real-world experience in live campaign launches, grassroots arts fundraising, and digital marketing.
Free access to Jawbone events, literary circles, and workshops (online and in person).
A warm, collaborative team culture that actively champions neurodivergent, LGBTQ+, and diverse voices.

Global Health Access Trust is looking for experienced professionals who can help open the right doors, make thoughtful introductions and advise on how best to approach important institutions, sectors and networks.
A single well-judged introduction can be as valuable to GHAT as months of cold outreach. This opportunity is designed for people who can contribute strategically and selectively rather than commit to a regular weekly volunteering schedule.
Global Health Access Trust (GHAT) develops, funds and coordinates defined projects that advance health, relieve illness and preserve life for the public benefit. Our work brings together professional and clinical expertise, human capability, responsible technology, essential infrastructure, trusted local relationships and accountable funding.
What you could contribute
• Make considered introductions to people and institutions who should know about GHAT’s work
• Advise on how best to approach a sector, market or institution
• Lend judgement on positioning, credibility and timing
• Help identify appropriate routes into professional, philanthropic, institutional, corporate, governmental, academic or community networks
• Share relevant insight that can help GHAT build strong and credible relationships
Who this could suit
This opportunity may suit senior professionals with established professional, philanthropic, institutional, corporate, governmental, sporting, academic or community networks.
It is particularly suitable for people who prefer occasional high-value input to a regular weekly role.
The commitment is deliberately flexible and advisory. You may, for example, tell us: “I can make introductions but do not want a regular weekly role.”
The opportunity can usually be undertaken remotely from any country.
The role is voluntary and unpaid. There is no salary, fee, employment benefit or entitlement to expenses.
How to apply
Applications are handled through the Global Health Access Trust website. When you click to apply, you will be taken to GHAT’s Partnerships, Networks & Door Openers section. There you can review this opportunity in context, explore the current opportunities within this area and select the opportunity that best matches your experience before submitting the GHAT application form.

About Care4Calais
Care4Calais is a volunteer-powered charity supporting refugees in northern France and the UK. We work alongside people seeking safety to provide daily essentials, fill the gaps state support leaves, and open up access to justice. We also press the public and policymakers to act. Our vision is an inclusive society where people seeking safety have a safe home and a bright future free from inequality.
In northern France we operate year-round from Calais, providing warm clothing, shelter, services and assistance to people living in dangerous conditions. In the UK, our Field Operations teams distribute clothes and essentials, run language lessons, sports and music workshops, and connect people to medical, educational and specialist services; our Legal Access teams secure legal representation and make sure people are informed and empowered throughout their asylum claim.
Our work is informed by an Advisory Board of people with lived experience of seeking safety, who provide strategic input and feedback.
About the role
We're appointing more Trustees with lived experience of seeking asylum. You'll join as we begin a strategic review that will shape our priorities for the coming years - so your insight will help decide where a charity working on the front line of the hostile environment puts its energy next, and make sure those decisions reflect the realities and aspirations of the people we exist to serve.
As a member of the Board, you’ll be working to set Care4Calais' strategic direction, hold us to our governing documents and legal duties, and support and challenge the leadership team so the charity can grow and thrive.
You don't need previous governance experience. We will support you and give you what you need to do the role well.
What Trustees do
Purpose and compliance
Ensure Care4Calais complies with its governing document, charity law and other applicable regulation
Ensure we pursue our charitable objects, and that all activities and resources advance that purpose
Contribute to regular reviews of our own governance
Strategy and direction
Shape and review strategy, and advise on our purpose, vision, goals and activities
Review what we're achieving and how effective our activities are
Stay alert to changes in our operating environment and ensure our purpose and activities remain relevant
Risk, finance and oversight
Ensure key and emerging risks are identified, monitored and mitigated
Oversee financial plans and budgets, monitor progress, and review and approve financial statements
Ensure robust processes for handling money and accurate record keeping
Ensure income generation is on target, lawful, and doesn't expose us to undue risk
Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation
Judgement and stewardship
Use your own judgement to make decisions that are honest, lawful and in Care4Calais' best interests
Avoid conflicts of interest or loyalty where you can; declare and record those you can't
Support and challenge the leadership team in exercising their delegated authority
Promote our aims and reputation through your skills, knowledge and contacts
Attend Board meetings prepared to contribute
Who we're looking for
Lived experience of seeking asylum
Willingness to understand and accept a trustee's legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities, and to act in the charity's best interests
Strong commitment to our cause, values and strategic objectives
A strategic, critical thinker who is comfortable asking questions, challenging assumptions and sharing views with respect and confidence
Ability to work as part of a team, understanding that trusteeship is collective
The time to do the role well - attending meetings and taking an active part in discussion
Support you'll get: structured onboarding, a buddy from the Board, and external mentoring through the Experts by Experience Employment Network.
Terms of service
The role is voluntary, with reasonable expenses reimbursed. Trustees are appointed for a 3 year term which is renewable. We expect trustees to attend all scheduled Board meetings, with reasonable allowances for extenuating circumstances.
As a small charity, there will be times we need you beyond Board meetings — scrutinising papers, advising on new initiatives, or lending expertise on a particular issue. Trustees are encouraged to visit our operations in the UK and northern France.
All appointments are subject to the standard requirement that candidates are not disqualified from acting as a charity trustee under the Charities Act; you'll be asked for the relevant declarations.
How to apply
Send a CV and a letter of interest (1–2 pages) setting out why you want the role and how you meet the person specification.
Skills and insight come from a wide range of life experiences, not only paid work - tell us about any experiences, learnings or perspectives you think would help you thrive here.
You will never be asked to describe your lived experience at any stage of this process unless you choose to.
Want an informal chat first? Contact Wilf Sullivan, Chair of the Board wilf [@] care4calais .org
Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed online after the closing date.
We can help with digital access or a quiet space for interviews. Tell us about any reasonable adjustments you need and we'll arrange them.
Equality and safeguarding
Care4Calais is an equal opportunities employer and an anti-racist organisation. We actively encourage applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities, people from refugee and migrant backgrounds, LGBTQ+ individuals, disabled candidates, and those with lived experience of the immigration system.
We are a proud member of the Experts by Experience Employment Network (EBE), which works towards a charitable sector led by people with lived experience of the asylum system. We've moved away from one-size-fits-all recruitment to make our process fair, supportive and accessible. Applicants are welcome to use the guidance at ebeemployment .com and to contact the EBE support team for help with your application and, where available, one-to-one interview preparation.
We are committed to safeguarding. Our selection process includes rigorous background checks and assessments to ensure post holders demonstrate attitudes and values aligned with a culture that promotes safeguarding.

Join Seen Sisters as a Non-executive Director!
Help us fund joyful, inclusive spaces for solo women with invisible disabilities. After a successful pilot, we have a goal to secure sustainable income generation and multi-year funding as we expand our grassroots mission.
Could you be the person to support our community?
This is a formal Non-Executive Director position, with registration as a company director of Seen Sisters and the associated legal and governance responsibilities. We’re looking for someone who can bring both strategic expertise and practical involvement, helping us shape sustainable income-generation and fundraising strategy, while also getting involved in opportunities such as developing income ideas, researching funders and writing funding bids. You’ll work collaboratively with the Co-Directors and members, providing strategic oversight and support rather than being expected to manage every aspect of delivery yourself.
This is a voluntary role for now, but we're actively seeking funding and would be happy to explore including your role in future bids.
We are looking for someone with a passion to support our mission, who already has experience of being a director of a company and is aware of the commitment, responsibility and trust required for this role.
About Seen Sisters
Who we are:
Seen Sisters is for solo women aged 25–55 who live with invisible disabilities. Our community is specifically for those who do not have children or a long-term, stable partner to rely on for emotional, financial, or practical support. These women often appear ‘well’ to others, which means their needs are frequently overlooked by wider society and services. Many face isolation, discrimination, and a lack of tailored support despite experiencing daily barriers that reduce their quality of life.
How we help (our services):
Seen Sisters is a lived experience project that creates joyful, inclusive spaces where solo women with invisible disabilities can reimagine the world on their own terms. We offer peer support, creative workshops, community-led events, and co-designed resources. Our spaces are designed to centre care, accessibility, and empowerment. Through conscious partnerships, collective nourishment, and community voice, we co-create opportunities to be seen, heard, and supported in ways that traditional systems fail to offer.
What will you be doing?
We are looking for a Non-executive Director who holds a speciality within finance and strategy.
Our goal as a grass-roots organisation is to secure multi-year funding and a strong focus on also developing sustainable income generation streams outside of grant funding, which you would be supporting us to accomplish.
We have explored sustainable income streams and some ideas to action, however to help this reach its full potential, we need someone with a strategic mind, who can ensure we can generate income in alignment to our mission and values. Alongside providing direct guidance of how to action this.
We would require you to set up and oversee this focus of work, though we would be able to get volunteers and members of staff to oversee the day to day deliverables. Your focus would be to oversee the important, strategic and legal requirements of this development.
We work alongside other incredible grass-roots organisations and have support from organisations such as VOSCUR and Black South West Network.
What this volunteer role involves:
* Ideation, strategic planning and development of sustainable income generation activities
* Overseeing sustainable income generation initiatives and delivery
* Support with researching funding opportunities
* Support with writing funding applications that reflect our mission, values, and deep listening approach
* Prioritising upcoming deadlines with support from the team
* Collaborating with other fundraising partners or members where needed
You might be a good fit if you:
* Are curious, empathetic, and values-aligned
* Can meet us where we’re at and help translate our story into compelling funding language
* Believe in joy, connection, and collective care
* Have experience in developing sustainable income streams for organisations outside of direct grant funding
* Have experience in grant writing, fundraising or storytelling
* Can commit about 2 days a month (ideally Monday or Thursday - flexible)
A few practicals:
* We work remotely and use a shared Drive
* We are a 100% global majority run organisation and we welcome people from all backgrounds to join us
* Allies and those with lived experience are warmly welcomed
* We do regular check-ins on capacity, access and preferences

Our work helps participants feel less alone, more empowered, and better equipped to advocate for themselves, while contributing to a more inclusive and liberatory world.
Our Values:
Seeing the experience of solo women with invisible disabilities as unique
Empowering ourselves through co creation
Diversity and inclusion - (intersectionality/decolonial/lgbt plus/flexibility)
Joy and collective nourishment - decolonial, sustainability and reimagining
Collective liberation - Conscious partnerships with allies

Lived Experience Projects - Creative, community-led work that reimagines spaces through the lens of solo disabled women.
Partnerships & Collective Care - Collaborating with organisations to design more inclusive, responsive environments and systems.
Garden Projects - Safe and accessible outdoor spaces for members to gather, connecting to each other and nature to improve wellbeing and develop skills.
