Fundraising volunteers wanted to help East London Waterworks Park reach its funding goals
East London Waterworks Park is working to acquire a 14-acre, concreted-over depot on the border of Waltham Forest and Hackney, and to transform it into a ‘brownfield rainforest’ with wild-swimming pools and creative learning spaces for the local community. We are showcasing an environment-first, community-led approach to land ownership that will help nature and people thrive together, revolutionising the way we think about green and blue spaces in cities.
Our Crowdfunder raised over half a million pounds towards buying the land, but we are waiting for the landowner to make decisions about the use of the site. Whilst we wait, we need to raise money for the other work we are carrying out. We have an exciting programme of community projects and work coming up, including carrying out biodiverse transformations on other sites in London.
If you have experience of planning or running fundraising campaigns and would like to get involved with a local charity, we would love to hear from you. Perhaps you are buzzing with ideas of how to raise money or are keen to get stuck in and help to make some events happen. Maybe you are a good writer and seller of ideas and would like to join our mini team of funding bid writers. We would especially love to hear from you if you have experience of writing funding applications.
If you are a professional fundraiser and would like to help but are short on time, we would still love for you to get in touch. Even if you are unable to get deeply involved, we would appreciate one-off or ongoing advice.
We hope that people bring radical imagination, peace with nature and courageous inclusiveness to the role.
We meet once a fortnight online on a Thursday evening
East London Waterworks Park is a charity campaigning to create a new biodiverse park with natural swimming ponds, forest schools and community spaces

WE’RE RECRUITING A GRAPHIC DESIGNER! (VOLUNTEER ROLE)
Help Us Create High‑Impact Designs That Shine a Light on Loneliness & Bring SUNSHINE to London
Hey you — yes, you, the imaginative, design‑obsessed human who loves turning ideas into visuals that make people stop, feel and connect.
SUNSHINE Charity is growing, glowing, and getting ready to launch… and we’re looking for a brilliant Graphic Designer to help us build a bold, beautiful visual identity that raises our profile, sparks awareness of loneliness, and helps us be seen, heard and valued across London.
If you love people, love purpose, and love using design to make a difference, this might be your moment.
Who Are We?
We’re SUNSHINE Charity, a brand‑new grassroots charity working to reduce loneliness and help people feel more connected: through projects, partnerships, and community support.
We’re a start‑up on a mission to bring connection, joy, confidence and belonging back into people’s lives. We create warm, uplifting, community‑based activities that help people step out of isolation and into a world where they feel seen, heard, valued and supported.
We’re all about:
-
Human connection
-
Positive role models
-
Fun, interactive activities
-
Confidence‑building experiences
-
Community, belonging, and joy
And we want our visual identity to shine just as brightly as our mission.
Your Role: Graphic Designer
This isn’t just any volunteer role — this is your chance to shape the look, feel and creative heartbeat of a brand‑new charity.
As our Graphic Designer, you’ll create high‑impact digital and print assets that help SUNSHINE stand out, raise awareness of loneliness, and build a strong presence across London and beyond. Your work will help us be recognised, respected and rooted in the communities we serve.
You’ll be the creative spark, the visual storyteller, the “let’s make this unforgettable” energy behind our brand.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll help us build a bold, beautiful visual identity by:
-
Designing high‑impact digital and print assets for campaigns, fundraising, events and social media.
-
Creating visuals that raise awareness of loneliness in warm, human‑centred ways.
-
Helping shape SUNSHINE’s visual identity and creative direction.
-
Designing posters, flyers, social graphics, banners and campaign materials.
-
Bringing fresh creative ideas to the table (we LOVE ideas).
-
Helping us build a recognisable, trusted presence across London.
-
Ensuring everything we create feels inclusive, uplifting and full of sunshine.
You don’t need to be a senior designer — just someone with creativity, passion and a desire to make meaningful work.
Who You Are
You might be perfect for this if you’re:
-
A creative thinker with a strong visual eye.
-
Someone who loves designing for social impact.
-
Confident using design tools (Canva, Adobe, Figma — whatever you prefer).
-
A warm communicator with a positive, people‑centred approach.
-
Passionate about community, wellbeing and human connection.
-
Excited to help build a charity from scratch.
-
Happy to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in.
-
Someone who believes in kindness, joy and belonging.
If you’ve ever thought “I’d love to use my design skills to help people feel less alone”… this is your chance.
What You’ll Get Out of It
-
A meaningful creative role in a brand‑new charity
-
Real experience designing for campaigns, branding and social impact
-
A supportive, friendly, uplifting team
-
The chance to shape SUNSHINE’s visual identity from day one
-
A portfolio full of high‑impact, purpose‑driven work
-
New skills, new confidence, new connections
-
The joy of knowing your designs are helping people feel seen and supported
-
That warm “I made something beautiful today” feeling
